19 Figure Bear Hunt Information STATE OF MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES 1 General Only those persons selected by a computerized drawing will be eligible to purchase a Minnesota bear hunting license for Applications for the drawing will be accepted through May 15, A quota of applicants will be selected for each Bear Permit Area. The quota for each Permit Area is shown on the map inside this folder. Each applicant must apply for only one of the Bear Permit Areas. A total of 4, 73 applicants will be selected. An application form is provided on the last page of this folder. BEAR SEASON DATES All AREAS September 1 -October 12 LIMIT -One adult bear per licensed hunter. LICENSE FEE-$25.75 resident, $15.75 non-resident Price includes issuing fee. WEAPONS-Firearm or bow and arrow legal for big game. A hunter cannot have in possession in the field a firearm and a bow at the same time. Areas Open to Hunting Each hunter obtaining a license will be restricted to hunting in the Bear Permit Area for which his license is issued. A map of permit areas with the number of permits available is provided inside this folder. Who is t:ll~:3h>lle Anyone who is at least 12 years of age prior to August 16, 1986, and who has not had his big game hunting privileges suspended pursuant to M.S. Section Preference will be given to applicants who have previously applied but were not selected. The applicant's Driver's License number or Identification Card number* (issued in lieu of a Driver's License number by the Department of Public Safety) is necessary for computerized identification. One of these numbers must be supplied by the applicant. Information supplied on the application form will be matched against existing state records for validity and eligibility. Incomplete or otherwise invalid applications will be rejected. Preference svs1ta1m Permits are made available by a drawing that re~ognizes several levels of preference. A hunter's preference level is determined by the number of valid but unsuccessful applications made since last receiving a permit.!jor ~nrl<:! may appty individually or with a group (maximum of 4 people). The group option is to accommodate those who do not want to hunt unless they can hunt with one or more hunting partners. Those who wish to apply as a group should their for the in one envelope. All applications mailed in one envelope will be treated as a group. The preference rating a group will be determined by the member who has the lowest preference level. Faulty applications within any group will be rejected before preference of the group is determined. Applicants should make sure that everyone in their group applies for the same Permit Area; otherwise, applications will be placed in the drawing individually. Caution Any person making more than one application per year or making a faulty application will be disqualified from this drawing. Further, improper application may violate Minnesota Statues and related Commissioner's Orders, which would ( subject the applicant to prosecution for a misdemeanor. No application for the drawing, application for the license, or license shall be transferable to another person at any time or for any reason. SEND NO MONEY-Applicants successful in the drawing will receive further instructions and an application for obtaining their bear license. Only applicants who are successful in the drawing will be notified. Minimum time to obtain an Identification Card is 3 days.
