Wolf Trax Innovative Micronutrients 2 The Wolf Trax approach to research Our approach We take seriously our job of correcting deficiencies and ensuring that a grower s crop can gain access to the micronutrients it needs. We make sure that our foliar and soil-applied products will correct deficiencies, regardless of conditions. With every trial we run, we take tissue tests at regular intervals to confirm that the needs of the crop are being met so that the grower has the opportunity to maximize yield potential. The research data summarized on the following pages demonstrates again and again that Wolf Trax DDP products provide superior application and improved uptake, regardless of crop or geography. How to get the most out of the data in this publication Most graphs in this publication indicate plant uptake in ppm (parts per million). Because Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients can be applied in different ways (as a fertilizer coating and soil-applied, or as a foliar application), the data has been separated. Plant uptake from DDP Micronutrients that have been coated on dry fertilizer blends is measured through tissue tests, after emergence. Plant uptake from DDP Micronutrients that have been applied as a foliar application is measured through tissue tests after application. Where available, soil type and soil ph are indicated. Find the soil type and ph that most closely represents your area. (Note: Wolf Trax tests our products under adverse conditions specifically under high ph wherever possible. Generally, the higher the ph, the lower the micronutrient availability. If your soil ph is lower than those listed here, you can be extra confident that your micronutrient deficiency will be corrected). List of Abbreviations: ppm Parts per million DAE Days after emergence DAA Days after application n/a Data not available Not all products are registered for all uses in all areas. 5 The Wolf Trax Approach To Research 3 About research program Wolf Trax products undergo some of the most extensive testing of any micronutrient products on the market today. Our products are tested for stability, efficacy and compatibility in the lab and field. Through research and evaluation program, you can be assured of the following: Our products are tested under a variety of conditions on a variety of crops. Wolf Trax products have been tested around the world in countries such as Australia, Canada, the United States, Mexico and in the European Union. We continue to expand our research into new geographical areas. Our products are tested under the most challenging conditions. Wolf Trax products are tested under a wide range of climatic conditions some of which are extremely challenging. We test on light and heavy soils, in cold soils where crop emergence is slow, and in searing heat where crop safety is a concern. We also test over a wide range of soil ph (as high as 8.2). High ph soils tend to complicate a plant s ability to take up some important micronutrients. Wolf Trax products are proven to work under these conditions; we know they ll work for your customers. 0 Effect of ph on the availability of micronutrients to crops. As soil ph increases, micronutrients become less available to the plant. Ca 2+ Plant Availability (log Activity [mol/l]) Fe 3+ Fe 2+ Zn 2+ Mg 2+ Cu 2+ Mn Note: A drop in availability of one tick mark means a ten-fold drop in plant availability. Soil ph Micronutrients tend to be less available to the plant in higher ph soils. Serious issues regarding micronutrient availability are more common at soil ph above 7.0.

W olf Trax Innovative Micronutrients 4 Our products are tested by third-party researchers. Wolf Trax products are tested by both private and public researchers. This ensures we have a broad range of information about our products. Strict research protocols are followed in the development and testing of all Wolf Trax products. Before our products go into field-scale testing, they undergo multi-year, multi-site, replicated small plot trials. We make sure there are statistically significant benefits before we bring a product to market. Our products are tested under field conditions. To ensure that Wolf Trax Micronutrients will work in your customers fields, field-scale, side-by-side trials using farmers own equipment and crop management systems have been conducted since During the growing season, tissue samples are taken at regular intervals to confirm that Wolf Trax products are addressing nutrient deficiencies. Our products demonstrate a successful track record. Wolf Trax has one of the most successful records for new product registrations due in large part to the cleanliness of our products, as well as the strict protocol of our R&D team. Our products are stability tested. In addition to testing the agronomic performance of Wolf Trax products through program, we also test the stability of the physical product itself. An extensive evaluation program to ensure robust formulations that provide superior mixing and efficacy is utilized when it comes to manufacturing Wolf Trax Micronutrients. We have conducted many on-site blending trials in batch and volumetric blenders with both independent retailers and larger retail networks. Our testing has shown that when blended with granular fertilizer, the DDP micronutrient remains thoroughly adhered to the fertilizer prill. In foliar fertilizer, it stays in suspension under agitation. With respect to mixability, tests done by the Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI) show that Wolf Trax Micronutrients mix well up to ph 9 and water temperatures as low as 3 C, or 37 F. Our products are compatibility tested. The ability to mix Wolf Trax products with pesticides is a valuable benefit that saves your customers time and money. We regularly screen our micronutrient products with a variety of herbicides, fungicides and insecticides in tank-mixes in order to provide the best information possible about this dynamic area of agronomy. This screening goes beyond simple compatibility tests. On-going field-testing on the in-tank compatibility and efficacy of mixes is done to ensure crop protection is not compromised.

The Wolf Trax Approach To Research 5 When you correct a deficiency, you unlock yield potential Countless research has shown that micronutrients provide a key to unlock a crop s yield potential. If a crop is micronutrient deficient, it can t possibly use to best advantage the other crop inputs your customer applies fertilizer, herbicides and fungicides and it can t withstand environmental challenges as effectively. Wolf Trax has done extensive field-scale research to demonstrate that yields can be increased by correcting micronutrient deficiencies. The following data sets, summarizing many trials, show the results of side-by-side, field-scale trials that demonstrate the response of crops to Wolf Trax Micronutrients, applied as a foliar application compared to untreated crops. 11 Wolf Trax DDP Fertilizer Coating Results 9 Wolf Trax DDP Technology provides superior application There really is no comparison between Wolf Trax DDP Technology and the traditional granular micronutrient products. When applied as a coating on granular, prilled fertilizer, Wolf Trax Micronutrients are available to the crop the instant the crop accesses the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. This represents a revolutionary leap ahead of old-style, granular products, where it can take weeks for the crop to find sparsely spread chunks. With Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients, root-to-nutrient contact is no longer left to chance. DDP Technology vs. Granular Micronutrients DDP 3 4 Granular Micronutrient granules of fertilizer (interception points for roots), all coated with DDP micronutrient in a 15 x 5 x 3 soil profile based on 150 lb/acre of fertilizer blend. 5 2 granules of granular micronutrient in a 15 x 5 x 3 soil profile based on 35% Zinc at 5 lb/acre. In 2003, a study was conducted to look at the distribution of micronutrients in the soil. Wolf Trax Zinc DDP, coated on fertilizer, was compared to traditional granular micronutrients. Within a corn-row, 9 cores were sampled, down the row. Wolf Trax Zinc DDP was found in levels high enough to correct the micronutrient deficiency in each sampled core. Any roots would have the opportunity to find the soil-applied Zinc DDP. This was not the case with the granular micronutrient. In one-third of samples taken, there was not enough zinc present to correct the deficiency. This study demonstrates you get more even distribution and superior application from DDP Micronutrients, and nutrition is available in greater abundance for plant uptake.

W olf Trax Innovative Micronutrients 10 Because of the superior application and distribution offered by unique DDP technology, Wolf Trax Micronutrients are significantly more available than granular micronutrients. The following data show that DDP coating technology is far superior in terms of uptake than with the older granular products. A portion of all Wolf Trax Micronutrients is available almost immediately while a second portion is available over the next 21 to 28 days. This means that Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients are always available at key times during crop growth. % increase in uptake over untreated Uptake of Wolf Trax Zinc DDP over time Days after emergence Micronutrient Deficient This study shows that uptake of zinc continues by the plant during critical growth stages. (Average increase in uptake of Wolf Trax Zinc DDP, coated on fertilizer, by soybeans, peas, corn and wheat). At 28 days after emergence, the plant is still demonstrating uptake (an increase over untreated of 20%) of Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients.

W olf Trax Innovative Micronutrients 12 Wolf Trax DDP s unique Dual Action formulation means that micronutrients are available immediately and provide sustained feeding up to 28 days, even under adverse soil conditions (soil ph of 8.2). 15 W olf Trax DDP Fertilizer Coating Results 13 Once coated with Wolf Trax DDP, fertilizer prills stay coated Because of the Wolf Trax unique formulation and micro-static adhesion, the DDP Micronutrient adheres thoroughly and strongly to each fertilizer prill and it does not flake or dust off. We have studied the stability of DDP Micronutrients through various handling stages. The data prove little variance from the blender to the truck, to the field. More information about blend consistency is available at Evenness of DDP/Dry Fertilizer Blend as it moves from Blender to Truck to Seeder N (Pounds) Zn (ppm) 0 From Blender Blender to Truck Truck to Seeder 0 Wolf Trax Zinc DDP (ppm) N (pounds) This data shows the variance of a Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrient coated onto a nitrogen blend. The bottom line shows the normal variance of nitrogen content when a dry fertilizer blend is handled. The top line shows the variance in the levels of DDP in the blend. As the blend travels from the blender to the truck to the seeder, the DDP Micronutrient stays blended evenly throughout. The evenness of the blend stays true right through to the field.
