Be sure to think about getting your work hours in. Monthly Shoot News The monthly shoot had 21 shooters. This tied last month s turnout. This month was a Hog Shot. But with a twist. See Figure 3. The hog was certainly entertaining to shoot. Different parts of the target were worth different scores. But if you hit the white portion (even inside the balloons or nostril) you were docked two points. Howie won the shoot but gave the steaks to Greg in second place. He claimed he had a tactical advantage by being able to examine the hog s behavior ahead of time. There was an additional prize for first place so he didn t go home empty handed. Figure 3 And the Target Figure 5 Shiny Archery MASS is hoping that a Boy Scout project would help build some projects. This could include a fence around the archery area. Nine home schooled students and parents were hosted by MASS. That is a great activity for home-schooled kids. Explore Archery classes (mixed adults and kids) continued through May. MASS also hosted a Central MD Girl Scout Service Unit camping across the street, and trained 8 adults as Level 1 Certified Archery Instructors through USA Archery. Holding the red bow is Wyatt who is also a club Sharp Shooter! Figure 4 Howie With the Winning Hog Next Monthly Shoot on July 8: This will be a service rifle shoot. It will be shot off-hand. No scopes. Website Stats and Info The Mt. Airy IWLA website had 400 visitors in one month. Half of those visits were from Google and Yahoo searches. Another 40% actually typed in the URL just to visit us. Only 2% of the visits came from social media. Figure 6 Don (white shirt) Shooting Laurie's Mongolian Bow Table That The shooting benches on the rifle range are being repainted and re-varnished. Four of the six are done so far.
