To hunt in any state park or game refuge, or to carry firearms thereon except by permission of Director of Game and Fish. To take any migratory game birds with a rifle or pistol or in any other way than with a shotgun not larger than a ten (1) gauge fired from the shoulder or with bow and arrow. To take migratory game birds with automatic loading or hand operated repeating shotguns capable of holding more than three shells at one time in the magazine and chamber combined. To shoot game from a motor vehicle or to carry firearms therein except they are taken apart or contained in a case, unloaded in both barrels and magazine. To bait hunting grounds for the purpose of taking migratory waterfowl or mourning do. ::s. To use live decoys in hunting migratory waterfowl. To ship, transport or carry upland or migratory game birds with their heads or feet removed. To transport Christmas trees without a ;J;J. of sale from the land owner showing legal description from whence trees were cut, or bearing Forestry Division Tag. STATE PUBLIC SHOOTING GROUNDS Public Shooting Grounds on which hunting is allowed are subject to special regulations. These regulations can be obtained from the Division of Game and Fish or on the areas concerned. IMPORTANT NOTICE Do not fail to report to the Division of Game and Fish the kinds and numbers of game birds and mammals taken under your hunting license each year. If no game is obtained, that report must be made as well. Convenient cards for this purpose are attached to hunting licenses. Return these cards not later than January 31st. The information obtained from these reports is valuable and, therefore, in the interests of good hunting, be sure to make your report promptly. Report banded birds according to instructions on the band. Give all data possible, including date, place, and manner of recovering band. RUFFED GROUSE AREA OPEN: In all of that area lying north and east of the system of highways, described as follows : Starting on the border line between the Province of Manitoba and Minnesota, where it is intersected by the county road db.e north of Roseau, Minnesota, thence southerly along said county road to Roseau, thence southerly and westerly on state trunk highway number 11 to Greenbush, Minnesota, thence southerly on highway number 32 to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, thence southerly on highway number 59 to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, thence southerly and easterly on highway number 1 to St. Cloud, Minnesota, thence easterly on highway number 95 to Taylors Falls on the Wisconsin-Minnesota boundary. PRAIRIE CHICKEN (PINNATED GROUSE) AND SHARP TAIL (WHITE-BREASTED) GROUSE (N. W. ZONE) Commencing at International Falls, thence southerly on highway number 53 to its intersection with highway number 73, continuing southerly on highway number 73 to Cromwell in Carlton County, Minnesota, thence easterly on highway number 21 to Duluth, Minnesota, thence northeasterly along the shore of Lake Superior to the Canadian boundary, thence westerly along the Canadian-Minnesota boundary line to the point of beginning. HUNGARIAN PARTRIDGE-SOUTHERN ZONE AREA OPEN: That area contained within the following described boundary: Commencing at the North Dakota-Minnesota state line at Oslo in Marshall County, Minnesota, thence easterly on highway number 1 to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, thence southerly on highway number 59 to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, thence southeasterly on highway number 1 to Wadena, thence southerly on highway number 29 to Montevideo in Chippewa County, thence southeasterly on highway number 212 to Granite Falls, Minnesota, thence southerly on highway number 23 to Marshall, Minnesota, thence continuing southerly on highway number 59 to Slayton, Minnesota, thence westerly on highway number 47 to the South Dakota-Minnesota boundary line, thence northerly along said South Dakota-Minnesota and North Dakota-Minnesota boundary lines to the point of beginning. QUAIL AREA OPEN: Hennepin, Carver, Scott, Dakota, LeSueur, Rice, Goodhue, Wabasha, Winona, Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Washington, and upon the regularly prescribed public hunting grounds of the Carlos-A very area in Anoka and Chisago Counties. CLOSED SEASON CHUKAR PARTRIDGE, CANADA SPRUCE GROUSE, WILD TURKEY, UPLAND PLOVER, SHOREBIRDS (except Woodcock) CRANE, WOOD DUCK, JACKSNIPE, ROSS'S GEESE, and SW AN may not be killed at any time. GRAY AND FOX SQUIRREL AND RABBIT GENERAL PROVISIONS AGGREGATE SEASON LIMIT: Not more than 3 in the aggregate of pheasant, ruffec grouse, quail, prairie chicken and sharptail grouse may be taken. POSSESSION OF GAME AFTER CLOSE OF SEASON: All game to be retained must be tagged by Director or Game Warden within five (5) days after the close of the season. Migratory game birds if properly tagged may be retained only 2 days after the close of the season during which they were taken. Upland game birds, except migratory game birds, may be retained if tagged until April 3 following the open seasn in which they were taken. LICENSE PROVISIONS RESIDENT: Small game hunting license, One Dollar ($1.), required of residents sixteen years of age or over, must be purchased in the county in which the applicant resides. NON-RESIDENT: Small game hunting license, Twenty-five Dollars ($25.), required of all non-residents. FEDERAL MIGRATORY BIRD HUNTING STAMP REQUIREMENT It is unlawful for any person over sixteen (16) years of age to take migratory waterfowl without having on his person a Migratory-bird Hunting Stamp validated by writing his signature in ink across the face of it. These stamps are sold at $1. each and may be bought at post offices and at other points convenient to waterfowl centers. GAME BIRD SHIPPING PROVISIONS RESIDENT HUNTERS: Each resident hunter may. ship or transport during the open season by common carrier consigned to himself only at any point in the county of his residence, not more than three (3) shipments of game birds including not more than twelve (12) waterfowl, rails, or shore birds combined, and not more than three (3) upland game birds in each of the three (3) shipments. The licensee must attach the proper license coupons to the game birds submitted for shipment in the manner described on the resident small game hunting license. NON-RESIDENT HUNTERS: Each non-resident hunter may ship or transport by common carrier during the open season to a point within or without the state, consigned to himself only, one shipment only, including not more than twenty-five (25) game birds of all kinds combined according to the possession limits described above. The licensee must attach the proper license coupons to the game birds submitted for shipment in the manner described on the non-resident small game hunting license. TRAPPING REGULATIONS: MINK: Dates: November lst to January 31st, both dates inclusive. SKUNK: Dates: October 2th to March 1st, both dates inclusive. RACCOON: Dates: November 1st to December 1st, both dates inclusive. BEAVER AND MUSKRAT: Season may be opened by order of the commissioner. Watch newspapers for announcements. BADGER, OTTER, FISHER, MARTEN: No open season. LICE.NSE PROVISIONS: Trapping license, issned oniy to residents, must be obtained in the county where applicant resides, one dollar ($1.). GENERAL INFORMATION: It Is Unlawful- To hunt raccoon with a dog in territory inhabited, or frequented by deer. To molest or take raccoon in any manner in a den or hollow tree. To cut down tree inhabited or occupied by raccoon. To set trap for raccoon in or under water or in any muskrat runway. To set traps for mink in muskrat house& or runways. To dig mink from dens. To take mink with the aid of dogs. To retain pelts of fur-bearing animals more than five days after the close of the season without retaining tag issued by the Director or game warden. SHIPPING PROVISIONS: When shipping furs taken under trapping license, the parcel must be plainly marked on the outside stating the name, address and license number of shipper and -kind and number of skins contained in the package. When skins taken on one's own land are shipped, package should be marked, "Taken on my own land", in addition to stating the kind and number of skins contained therein. HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS LEARN to shoot and handle a gun by practice before hunting. ADOPT the slogan "All Guns Are Always Loaded." CARELESS shooting endangers the lives of others. BE SURE to identify your target before you shoot. HELP PREVENT FOREST FIRES BE CAREFUL with burning cigars, cigarettes, and pipe coals. BE SURE your match is out before you throw it away. REPORT fires to nearest forest ranger or game warden. PUT YOUR CAMP FIRE OUT WITH WATER. SUNRISE AND SUNSET SCHEDULE Longitude of St. Paul, Minn. Variation approximately 4 minutes to each degree. Add to determine time for points west, and subtract for points east of St. Paul. One degree is equivalent to 6 miles at latitude of St. Paul. Upon returning to the car show your kill, if any, to the farmer, and offer him a portion. If investigation shows no one at home on a farm-do not hunt. Prevent your dog from chasing stock-do not kill cats on farms. Do not discharge firearms within 2 yards of a farm home, near domestic animals-especially those in harness, or from a highway, Do not climb over fences; crawl under or use the gate where possible. Close all gates securely, when found closed. Report all damage you may do while hunting or that you will find has been done. Never run away from an approaching farmer in the fieldall men despise a coward. Never hunt in a sneaking manner-hunting is manly when conducted in a legal and proper manner. Always ask permission. Rowdyism and vandalism have no place in a sportsman's program. Protect our hunting privileges-observe the golden rule. Co-operate with the game wardens-they are serving you. Never post land you do not own or lease. Learn to distinguish our game and always know what you are shooting at before you shoot. Leave a clean camp. Be careful of your cigarets and matches.
