2 SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS THE FREEDOM SPRINTS 30 June 01 July 2012 For 2012 Club Racing Events organized by the Colorado Region SCCA, Inc Published by the Colorado Region Sports Car Club of America, Inc All events held under the 2012 General Competition Rules 1. GENERAL A. Permanent numbers are assigned through the Rocky Mountain Division Numbering Program. Temporary numbers are on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to race group configuration. B. Every participant must display proper credentials at all times. C. Track rides may be available at the discretion of the Chief Steward, in conjunction with Race Administration. D. PA / Track announcements can also be monitored via FM Radio frequency on 88.9 MHz. E. Race Control uses radio frequencies MHz, MHz, MHz, , , and All participants must avoid these frequencies. F. The organizers reserve the right to refuse entry and/or issuance of credentials to the premises or event for any reason except race, color, creed, sex, or national origin. G. The organizers reserve the right to postpone, abandon or cancel the event, or any part of the event. Entry fees will be refunded to those offered no opportunity to compete. H. Alcohol may not be consumed on the premises until the last car in the last group is off the track at the end of the day. I. Any test day or session not on the official schedule is NOT sanctioned by SCCA and is NOT covered by SCCA Insurance. J. The racecourse is closed to all motorized traffic until 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning unless express permission from the Chief Steward or his/her designee has been received. K. The time limit for protesting the validity of a car (mechanical protest) is hereby waived if the car under protest has been approved by the chief steward to race without appearing on track previously during the requisite practice or qualifying session. L. All vendors wishing to display and/or sell any items must obtain prior approval from High Plains Raceway management. 2. REGISTRATION A. Online registration is handled by Acceptable payment includes Visa, MC, Discover, Check or PayPal and payments are processed at the time of registration. See entry form for additional registration options. Telephone registration is not accepted for Colorado Region events. B. Colorado Region recognizes shared or team entries whereby drivers share a car (one driver per day). Teams must register as such and will be charged the weekend rate, without additional fees. A change in an entry requires re-registering and may involve additional fees. C. A $50.00 fee will be assessed on returned checks/bankcards. D. Online registration will close at midnight of the Sunday prior to the event, unless extended by registration officials. A $50.00 late fee will be assessed after registration closes. E. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations should be made through the Chief Registrar prior to the event. A refund of the entry fee, minus a $25 processing fee, will apply for cancellations made by the midnight of the Sunday prior to the event. Cancellations made after such deadline shall incur a $50 processing fee. Refund requests for cancellations without proper notice must be made to the region treasurer within 7 calendar days following the event. Approved refunds, minus the processing fee, will be issued in the form of a check mailed to the entrant. F. Refunds due to mechanical failure will be considered by the Chief Registrar for cars that have not been on the racing surface as verified by the Chief of T & S. Requests must be submitted to the Chief Registrar before the end of the event. Refunds will be issued by the region treasurer in the form of a check mailed to the entrant. G. SCCA requires Photo I.D. for all licensed members. H. All drivers, volunteers, and officials must sign the track waiver and the SCCA waiver. Only members who hold a current SCCA license may be credentialed for the hot areas. Weekend memberships can be purchased for a fee of $ Registration hours are posted on the schedule. 3. MEDICAL INFORMATION A. Drivers must fill out a medical information helmet tag which is then folded and placed in a plastic stick-on holder which attaches to the driver s helmet. Helmet tags and holders are available for $1.00 at Registration and Tech. B. Volunteers are encouraged to fill out and carry the medical tag and keep it with their credentials at all times during the event. 4. TECH / IMPOUND A. Tech inspection hours are posted on the event s schedule. B. There is no smoking or alcohol allowed in the Impound area. C. An event Tech sticker will be issued after a receipt has been presented, the vehicle logbook has been examined, approved for competition, signed, and the driver s gear or helmet sticker has been checked. D. The order of inspection at the track will be: 1. Minimal inspection, logbook and helmet sticker. 2. Re-inspection, logbook notation. 3. Annual inspection. 4. Cars with no logbook, i.e. new cars or lost logbooks. E. Driving on or off the scales is prohibited unless otherwise instructed by Tech personnel. Motors must be turned off and competitors and/or crew must push cars on and off scales. F. Any car reported to have metal-to-metal contact may be called to report to Impound at the end of that session. G. Fuel will be tested in accordance with the GCR. All competitors will be allowed two voluntary fuel tests. H. Compliance and/or safety inspections may be performed on the pre-grid. I. Annual inspections will only be performed by Tech personnel at the track or race headquarters if the competitor has made prior arrangements with the Chief of Tech. J. New logbooks will only be issued by SCCA Tech at the track if the competitor makes prior arrangements with the Chief of Tech. 5. PADDOCK A. Event organizers may assign paddock spaces and issue parking passes whenever necessary. All trailers and support vehicles must be parked on the crushed asphalt surface between paved paddock lanes and in a perpendicular orientation to Hwy 36, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Race Chairman. Stationary awnings, trailers, cars and support vehicles must remain within the marked paddock space and must not encroach on areas designated for tech/scales, pit/grid, or volunteer parking. Tie-down stakes may not be driven into the paved surface of the paddock. B. Event organizers may exclude areas as off limits and designate them unavailable for any parking or paddock space. There will be no encroachment into designated Emergency Vehicle or Emergency Access areas. Access ways for general paddock traffic and Emergency Vehicles must be kept clear at all times or vehicles will be towed. C. You must have a valid motor vehicle license to operate any 2, 3, or 4-wheeled motorized or non-motorized vehicles in the paddock. Skateboards and roller skates are prohibited. D. The paddock speed limit is 10 M.P.H. Vehicles in the paddock are the responsibility of their respective entrant and must be operated in a safe manner. F. Entrants are responsible for the conduct of their crew, guests, minors, and pets. All minors must be under direct adult supervision at all times. Pets in the paddock must be leashed and under direct supervision of an adult at all times.
3 G. Minors and non-members must remain behind the chain link fencing paralleling the Hot Pit lane. No one will be allowed to view from in front of the Race Control and Timing structure. 6. PIT & GRID A. Crew/Guests must leave the grid at the two-minute warning. B. Drivers are prohibited from scrubbing tires in the paddock, grid and hot pit lanes. 7. TIMING & SCORING A. AMB TRANX260 System transponders or other systems compatible with the this system are required for all cars in all classes for all races. B. Transponders may be available for rent at the rate of $50.00 per day or $75.00 for the event, along with a $500 credit card deposit. It is the driver s responsibility to make sure their transponder is working properly AND that the correct transponder number has been provided in the registration system or directly to the registrar. A vehicle without a working transponder or without the correct transponder number may not be scored for the event. Any competitor needing a rental unit should alert the Chief Registrar at the time of entry submission. C. Personal timing beacons are not allowed within 20 feet on either side of the T & S system, or across track from Start/Finish. 8. SOUND CONTROL A. LOCATION: Sound control will be on the south side of the track along the back straight between turns 3 and 4. B. LIMIT: Sound will be monitored according to GCR guidelines (103dB). Sound readings will be posted at Hospitality. 9. FLAGGING A. In a RED FLAG situation, drivers shall stop immediately at the nearest staffed corner station that can be reached safely and await further instructions. B. In a FULL COURSE YELLOW situation, each vehicle must slow (preferably less than 50 mph) and prepare to form up behind a pace vehicle. If a pace car is not used Start/Finish will designate the car number of the race leader with a PACE signboard. All competitors shall then form up behind the leader. C. The BLACK FLAG stations are as follows: Full Course - Corner 9, West Course Corner 7, Short Course Corner 4S. D. For practice sessions a CHECKERED FLAG signaling the end of the session may be displayed at BOTH Start/Finish AND Corner 9. Cars receiving the Checkered Flag at Corner 9 must proceed directly to the pit lane / paddock. 10. RESULTS & TROPHIES A. Results and trophies will be available in the Hospitality area. Sunday s results and trophies will be available in the Hospitality area until 1 hour after the results are finalized. Trophies not picked up will be considered forfeited unless prior arrangements have been made with the Race Chair. B. Sunday July 1 is the designated BF Goodrich Super Tour Event. 1. Special Super Tour checkered flags will be presented to all class winners prior to pit out and drivers will be directed to proceed onto track for their victory lap. 2. Driver s finishing 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd in class will be escorted from impound to the Winner s Circle Ceremonies. Final results and trophies will be available in the Hospitality area. 11. MAJORS PROGRAM INVITATIONAL EVENT A. Only the Chief Steward and the representative from the SCCA national Office may modify the Schedule of Events and/or race group configurations. B. Drivers competing in the Saturday and Sunday Invitational races (SM, SRF, STU, EP, FP, HP, F500, FV, FM and FF) will earn points in the Majors Series Championship (based on GCR 1-9) for top finishers. C. Special event elements for the Invitational classes include consistent class groupings throughout the Series, Qualification Races, Split Starts, Victory Laps & Victory Circle Ceremonies. D. All Major Invitational Classes and Run Groups will be required to go to Impound after each National Points Race for Victory Circle Ceremonies.
