2 1. General Information Competition Venue Whistler Olympic Park hosted the Nordic events for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The biathlon stadium features 30 electronic HoRa targets, with covered canopy and lights. The trails are open with natural snow from mid-november until mid-april. There are on-trail wax cabins and a wax testing area within 100 metres of the range. The range is at 870 metres elevation. The highest point on course is at 890m elevation and the lowest point is at 849m elevation. Whistler Olympic Park is located 16km south of Whistler and 40km north of Squamish on Highway 99, then 9km West on Callaghan Valley Road. Refer to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police website to obtain a Non-Resident Firearms Declaration. Firearms Permits It is mandatory that all athletes have in their possession, and be able to show upon request, their Possession and Acquisition Licence or Minor s Permit. All competitors must comply with Canadian firearms laws and provincial/territorial firearms regulations. 2

3 Ammunition Teams and individual competitors are advised that stores in Vancouver or the Sea to Sky Corridor do not stock target ammunition in significant quantities. Make sure to bring enough ammunition with you for your training and competition needs. For ammunition purchases in Vancouver, visit Reliable Gun at Rules The event will be conducted in accordance with the current versions of the following rules and regulations as applicable: the IBU Event and Competition Rules, the Biathlon North America Hosting Policy for North American Championships and North American Cups, and the Biathlon Canada Hosting Policy. Eligibility to Enter As per the applicable Hosting Policy. Training Prior to Event The trails and biathlon range are available for training prior to March 26. Teams are responsible for purchasing their own trail passes and lane rentals for training prior to March 26. To purchase trail passes and lane rentals contact Whistler Olympic Park guest services at or Official Training The range will be open on March 26 and 29 for official training. Lanes will be assigned by the Organizing Committee based on registration by number. Trail passes and lane fees for training will be provided by the organizing committee. Trail Passes Trail passes for athletes without seasons passes to Whistler Olympic Park can be picked up by coaches each day from the Competition Office. Trail passes must be available when skiing on non-competition trails. If you lose your trail pass, replacement passes may be purchased through the Whistler Olympic Park daylodge. 2. Competition Information Entry Fees $210 plus on-line charge for all competitions and banquet. Entry fees include 4 competitions, wax room, ski pass, range pass and banquet ticket. 3

4 Registration Registrations by number, specifying the number of athletes by category and the number of team staff, are due by February 26 by to All finalized registrations, by name and category, are due and must be paid in full by 23:59 on March 11, 2019 through zone4.ca. No entries will be accepted after this time. All competitors must have a 2018/2019 membership with their division or State/Nation. Proof of membership is required to register. Cancellation Policy If an athlete withdraws before the registration deadline a $20 processing fee will apply before a refund is sent. No refunds will be given after the registration deadline for athletes who withdraw. If the event is cancelled due to poor weather or force majeure on or before March 23 then a 50% refund of registration fees will be provided. If the event is cancelled after March 23, no refund of registration fees will be provided. *Note - non-ibu category relays may be 2, 3, or 4 person relays, same gender or mixed. The formats will be determined after the registration deadline. 8 Competition Office The competition office is located in the downstairs of the biathlon. The office will be open as follows: 25 March 2019: 12:00-16:00 26 March 2019: 8:00-16:00 27 March 2019: 8:00-16:00 28 March 2019: 8:00-16:00 29 March 2019: 10:00-16:00 30 March 2019: 8:00-16:00 31 March 2019: 8:00-17:00 Team Captains Meetings The Team Captains Meetings will be held at 16:30 on March 25, 26 and 27 in the biathlon flex space at Whistler Olympic Park. Entries will be confirmed, juries will be elected, and draws will be conducted. Equipment Check Equipment check will be located in the biathlon stadium. Trigger weights will be checked, and rifles will be marked before each competition. Equipment check will be open starting at 8:45 and 12:15 on March 27, 28, 30 and 31. Hours of Access to Whistler Olympic Park From March 26-31, the hours of access to Whistler Olympic Park will be from 7:00-18:00. All teams must be off-site by 18:00. Awards Awards will be presented in the biathlon stadium following the posting of final results. Medals for the North American Biathlon Championships and the Canadian Biathlon Championships will be awarded as prescribed by the appropriate Hosting Policy. 3. Logistical Information Banquet The banquet is included in the registration fee for all athletes, and will be held at 19:00 on March 28, 2019 at The Westin Resort & Spa, 4090 Whistler Way, Whistler. Additional banquet tickets for team staff and others may be purchased in connection with registration at a cost of $50 per person. 8

9 On-Site Services Food services are available at the Whistler Olympic Park day lodge. There are no food service facilities at the biathlon. Parking for teams is available in front of the biathlon. Washrooms can be accessed from the parking lot of the biathlon. Accommodation Teams are responsible for arranging their own accommodation during the event. The organizing committee has negotiated discounted rates in Squamish and Whistler. Details on these rates are available on the Whistler Biathlon Society website at whistlerbiathlon.com/calendar/2019-nationals. Each wax cabin contains a table and a chair. Wax cabins will be assigned to teams based on the registration by number. Due to the limited number of wax cabins available, some teams may be required to share a cabin with other teams. Keys must be picked up and dropped off at the competition office. There is a refundable deposit of $50 cash per key to the wax cabins.
