ANNOUNCEMENT: The Queensland Motocross Subcommittee (QMX) will co-ordinate the promotion of the 2017 YAMAHA QUEENSLAND MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS, for senior riders in Open & Lites classes and junior riders (male & female) in Junior Lites, Mini-Lites, 65cc and 50cc Auto classes. The promotion is on behalf of QMX and the Townsville Motorcycle Club and Moreton Districts MX Inc and will be held at (Rnd 1 Lang Park, Woodstock, Rnd 2 Tivoli Raceway, Coal Road, Chuwar). The Clubs hereinafter are referred to as the Promoters. Please be aware that these Supplementary Regulations may be updated prior to the event with the approval of Motorcycling Queensland (MQ) and/or the event Steward. ALL RIDERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE WILL BE INVITED TO NOMINATE BY THE RACE SECRETARY ON BEHALF OF THE QMX SUBCOMMITTEE. WILDCARD Entries are encouraged. 2. JURISDICTION: 2.1 The abovementioned meeting has been authorised by Motorcycling Queensland (MQ), who has issued the Motorcycling Australia (MA) Permit Number as listed above and is open to holders of current Motorcycling Australia Senior and Junior National Licenses. Junior National Licence holders must hold and be able to present a Junior Logbook to be eligible to compete. (All competitors must have a current annual competition licence). 2.2 Competitors with comparable licenses from another FMN who have obtained written clearance and provide verification of personal FIM insurance to a standard accepted by Motorcycling Australia are also eligible to compete if accepted as a Wildcard entry. 2.3 Qualifying for the Yamaha Qld Motocross Championships will come from the following series: Senior Riders: Airoh Helmets MX Series top 20 riders in each class MPE CQ MX Series top 7 riders in each class JR s Motorcycles Tropical NQ MX Series top 7 riders in each class 2016 Top 3 at Yamaha Qld MX Championships Wild Cards will be accepted at the MX Subcommittee s discretion. Junior Riders: Airoh Helmets MX Series top 20 riders in each class MPE CQ MX Series top 10 riders in each class JR s Motorcycles Tropical NQ MX Series top 7 riders in each class Wild cards will be accepted at the MX Subcommittee s discretion. 1

2 Senior riders who previously placed top 3 in 2016 Yamaha Qld Championships will be requested to complete intention to compete to enable entries to be finalized prior to wild card considerations. Qualifying riders through participating Series will be requested to complete ENTRY to compete by date advised in invitation letter to enable entries to be finalized prior to wild card considerations. Wild card entries will only be considered from riders who submit an application prior to the due date of 3 rd July The meeting will be held in accordance with the 2017 Manual of Motorcycle Sport (MOMS), these Supplementary Regulations, Motorcycling Queensland Bylaws and any Final Instructions approved by MQ. By entering this meeting, all parties agree to comply with these rules, regulations, by-laws and instructions. 3. ENTRIES: 3.1 All Riders who are eligible will be invited to Nominate by the Race Secretary on behalf of the Qld MX Subcommittee. 3.2 Riders are encouraged to submit Wildcard Entries. 3.3 Entries open to qualified riders forthwith and will close on the dates advised in letter from Qld MX Subcommittee. 3.4 Entries will only be accepted online via Entries close on date advised on invitational letter. 3.7 CLUBMAN CLASS will not receive an invitation letter these classes can be entered either round by round or as a Series entry closing date for Clubman Support will be 10 days before each round. 3.8 Senior 125cc Championship class (added class) will not be required to qualify to enter this championship. 3.9 All entries will receive information via . Please ensure that the address utilised for your online entry is CORRECT ONLINE ENTRY CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS VIA INCUR A 3.3% HANDLING FEE. Only MasterCard and Visa will be accepted. 4. LATE ENTRY POLICY 4.1 LATE entries may not be accepted due to the entry process. 4.2 Late entries if accepted WILL NOT be listed in the event program. 4.3 The acceptance OR NOT of late entries is entirely at the discretion of the Race Secretary in conjunction with the Motocross Subcommittee. 4.5 You MUST still enter on time according to your invitation letter. 4.6 Qualified riders as per Item 2 and accepted wildcard entries will be eligible to enter this event. 5. CANCELLATION POLICY 5.1 In the case of abandonment of the meeting, all or any part of the entry fee may be retained by the Promoter, if such retention is approved by Motorcycling Qld. 5.2 Any announcement in regard to a complete event cancellation based on information at hand at the time, will be made available by 5pm Friday before each round. 5.3 Announcements will be posted via the following methods: - The Motorcycling Queensland website ( - The promoting Clubs website (if applicable); and - The Event Co-ordinator s voice message on the mobile phone. 5.4 The Race Secretary will make all possible attempts to notify all entered competitors; however, the onus rests with the competitor/parents to remain up to date with event information. 5.5 If in any doubt as to the cancellation or not of the event, please contact the Race Secretary or Series Co-ordinator. 5.6 In the event of complete cancellation, a $25 Administration charge will be retained from each competitor s entry fee. This administration charge will be utilised to cover costs incurred by the administration, club and timing services of the event. 5.7 In the event of the cancellation of a day of competition, that days schedule will be abandoned. Racing shall recommence the next day as per program if circumstances permit. 5.8 If a reschedule must take place due to unforeseen circumstances, those classes that do not have the required two races to constitute a championship, shall have priority scheduling above other classes. 6. REFUND POLICY 2

3 6.1 The return of entry fees for any rider withdrawing from the meeting is at the discretion of the Promoter. 6.2 In the event of a rider/s not being able to attend a meeting due to unforeseen circumstances, a REFUND of entry fees may be issued if the following conditions are met: 6.3 The Race Secretary are notified via racesecretary@mqld.org.au. The Event Race Secretary will acknowledge notification via return as soon as able. 6.4 Refunds approved will be issued minus an administration fee of $ Refunds approved, will be paid into the credit card payment was made from. 6.6 Dates and requirements for a refund are: Round 1 & 2 Without a Medical Certificate 27 th July 2017 Medical Certificate Required 28 th July up to and including 3rd August 2017 NO REFUND CONSIDERED 4 th August ENTRY FEES: 7.1 Each entry fee will consist of a base class fee per series as listed below AND mandatory per RIDER levies as listed below. Transponder hire will only be available in exceptional circumstances. The rider must advise on on-line entry form the transponder number/s applicable. The cost of hire will be $32 per transponder hired per round. 7.4 Any competitor may acquire his/her own transponder(s). Transponders available through There are various subscription fees Refer to For transponder owners you need to have current subscription in place for transponder to work. 7.5 Please refer to item 3 in regard to how to enter and pay the relevant fees. 7.6 A 2 nd Class occurs when a second motorcycle is entered into a second class of competition. 7.7 Camping shall be available from Friday through to the Sunday Night at a fee of $10 per site, per day payable to the club on arrival. 8. ENTRY PASSES/CREDENTIALS: 8.1 Entry passes will NOT be sent by post. A RIDERS LIST will be given to the Club. All competitors must stop at this gate prior to entering the pit area. 8.2 COMPETITION LICENCE and LOGBOOK, in the case of junior competitors MUST BE PRESENTED at scrutineering/sign on. 8.3 Once signed on and any entry issues are resolved the following will be provided: - One (1) Competitor admission and one (1) mechanic admission, Junior competitor will receive two (2) Guest admission to allow both parents admission. - - One (1) Event Program. - Required Sponsor Sticker Kits. - Any other information deemed relevant. 8.4 Competitors entering two classes WILL NOT receive additional passes. 3

4 8.5 Additional WEEKEND passes for riders families may be purchased at a set price of $10 Adults, $5 Children and $25 Family pass from the promoting club. Round 1 ACCESS WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED INTO THE VENUE FROM: 2 pm - FRIDAY, 4 th August 2017 Round 2 ACCESS WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED INTO THE VENUE FROM: 2 pm Friday 25 th August INSURANCE: 9.1 Details of the National Personal Accident Scheme are available from or the current Manual of Motorcycle Sport. 9.2 Ambulance insurance is compulsory for all competitors including competitors holding a competition licence issued by another Motorcycling Australia State Controlling Body. 9.3 It is strongly recommended that competitors give serious consideration to obtaining weekly benefits insurance. 10. MEDICAL SERVICES: 10.1 Rnd 1 - QAS will be in attendance prior to any on track motorcycle activity until at least 15 minutes after the completion of the last race for Round Rnd Medics Medical Services will be in attendance prior to any on track motorcycle activity until at least 15 minutes after the completion of the last race for Round CLASSES OF COMPETITION: 11.1 To be eligible to compete in each of the Senior Classes, certain grades apply. Please refer to your State Controlling Body for your current Motocross grading Juniors wishing to participate MUST have a suitably endorsed competition licence OR a Junior Logbook showing that coaching accreditation has been undertaken on that particular capacity of machine. If this is unable to be presented, the junior is INELIGIBLE to compete in that chosen class. JUNIOR LOGBOOKS MUST BE PRESENTED AT SIGN ON. 11.3The age of junior competitors will be their age as at 1 January. Preference will always be given to top 3 place getters regardless of which class they are competing in (exception will be Junior Lites 15 from 2016 Qld Championships). 12. AWARDS & PRIZEMONEY: 13.1 Championship trophies will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd overall in each class based upon cumulative points scored over all races at the completion of the required allocated protest time. Overall reward given for Highest Placed Intermediate grade Rider for each of the three Senior Championship classes. The top 3 highest placed Clubman grade riders in the Senior 125cc class will also receive an award. Motorcycling Queensland in conjunction with the Motocross subcommittee will determine the 1-10 plate winners Taking into account Item , prize money will be awarded as per the following table overall in each class listed based upon accumulative points scores achieved over all legs. ENTRIES TO CONSTITUTE A CLASS: 14.1 To constitute a CHAMPIONSHIP class, the number of competitors entered and competing in each class shall be ten (10) Should there be insufficient entries in any class of competition, that class will be CANCELLED and full refunds will be issued into the credit card payment was made from or competitor s nominated bank account For the purpose of determining whether the number of entries constitute a class or not, entries shall be calculated on those that have been officially received by the 26 th July SCRUTINEERING 15.1 Machines entered in the competition must have successfully passed machine examination prior to taking part in any practice or racing. A machine sticker will be placed on the machine by the scrutineer/sign on officials to indicate that it has been successfully examined Machines must be submitted to scrutineering along with Helmet, Boots, Juniors Body Armour, and Back Numbers. 7

8 15. MACHINES & RIDERS: 16.1 All machines entered must comply with the current MOM s for Motocross competition Multiple entry of the one machine in the same class of competition is not permitted Change of machine may be permitted if submitted in writing to the Clerk of Course via the Race Secretary and approved at least ten (10) minutes prior to the start of the event in which the substitution is requested. Substitute machines must be eligible to compete i.e. already be entered for the meeting, have passed machine examination, be eligible for the class and replace a machine that cannot reasonably be repaired. Spare machines may be entered using the space provided on the entry form Substitution of riders is NOT permitted It is a condition of acceptance of entry that all machines entered for the meeting MUST carry ANY SPONSOR STICKERS the promoter determines. All sponsor stickers will be supplied at machinery and the onus is placed on the competitor to ensure that these stickers are placed on machinery in the correct locations. There are NO exceptions to this rule Eligibility checks can take place at any time during the meeting It is the competitors /parents responsibility to ensure that any machine that suffers accident damage during practice or racing is repaired and will meet the required safety standards as outlined in the MOMS prior to further participation in the event In addition to pulling down and checking of machines after official protests have been received by the Clerk of Course in accordance with the MOMs, the Scrutineer with approval of the Clerk of Course, can check and pull down, at their discretion, any machine that has taken part in the event. Failure to comply with this rule will result in automatic exclusion from the event results Machines will not be sealed for later checking after the event. All machines that are to be pulled down and scrutineered will take place at the venue before the machine is released by the Scrutineer. A member of the rider s team must be available at all times to assist with the strip down. Failure to comply with this rule will result in automatic exclusion from the events results Capacity and fuel testing may be utilised by the Scrutineer at any round to assist with machine eligibility Helmets are mandatory. All persons including officials using any bike, trike or quad at an event must be wearing a properly secured helmet. 16. IMPOUND: The top four place getters machines based on accumulative points scores over all legs, will be impounded in an area to be designated, for a period of thirty (30) minutes directly following the completion of that machines final event. (Final round) 17. RIDING NUMBERS: 18.1 Competitors WILL BE allocated their Registered Qld MX Riding Number; however, the Promoter does reserve the right to allocate numbers at their discretion COMPETITORS MUST HAVE THEIR REGISTERED MQ MX RIDING NUMBER ON THEIR MACHINE PRIOR TO SCRUTINEERING. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS REQUIREMENT, COMPETITORS NOT DISPLAYING THEIR REGISTERED MQ MOTOCROSS NUMBER ON THEIR MACHINE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN COMPETITION UNTIL RECTIFIED Holders of Motorcycling Qld issued licences will have preference over interstate or international riders when issuing riding numbers for this event All number plates MUST comply with the current MOM s. Refer to SECTION for all number plate regulations, as these rules will be enforced. **SIZE, FONT, COLOUR and FINISH are covered in this chapter*** 18.5 Number plate colours will be as per MOM s for age groups for junior competitors and MOM s for all other competitors. NB: Back numbers are compulsory for all Junior and Senior competitors in this and other Qld MX series. Failure to wear a back number WILL result in a competitor being stopped from competing, until they comply. Back numbers that correspond to the machine number must be shown at machinery. 18. GATE POSITIONS: 18.1 Each class will have their own Qualifying session purely for the purpose of gate selection. Practice will change to qualifying for Gate selection purposes after the 1 st Lap of Practice under waved yellow flag. Clubman Support will have peg draw for gate positions. For Senior Classes: Priority Gate Selections: All riders who directly qualify from one of the three (3) qualifying series, and Senior Riders who finished in the Top 3 of 2016 Qld MX Champs. The Rider with fastest time receives gate selection #1 and so forth Secondary Gate Selections: All Senior Riders who are offered and accept a contingency place in the field; and All Senior Riders who are offered a Wildcard The Rider with the fastest time out of the Secondary Gate selections Gate Pick commence immediately after all Priority selection. 8

9 For Junior Classes: All Junior Riders who directly qualify from one of the 3 Qualifying Series. Junior Riders with the fastest time receives gate selection #1 and so forth Secondary Gate Selections: All Junior Riders who are offered and accept a contingency place in the field; and All Junior Riders who are offered a Wildcard The Rider with the fastest time out of the Secondary Gate selections Gate Pick commence immediately after all Priority selection. Qualifying times will be the riders Gate pick position for all races at that round. Round 2 Gate picks will REPEAT the steps above Qualifying times will be the riders Gate pick for all races at that round. (as above) 18.3 In the event that any qualifying sessions are cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, leg 1 gate position will be determined by random peg draw. Successive legs will be determined by the finishing order of the previous leg. I.e. The 1 st place getter of leg 2 will have 1 st gate pick and so on to 40 th position. Round 2 Gate picks will REPEAT 18.1 to RIDERS BRIEFING: 19.1 A riders briefing will be held prior to any on track motorcycle activity each day. It is compulsory for all competitors and a parent or legal guardian of all junior competitors to attend. A random attendance role may be utilised by the Clerk of Course to determine a competitor s attendance at riders briefing. The Clerk of Course may at his/her discretion, penalise any competitor who is called randomly at riders briefing and is proven not to be in attendance by not responding to that call Riders Briefing times shall be indicated on the race format which will be included in the Final Instructions Smoking is strictly prohibited at Riders Briefing. 20.PITBOARD ACCESS: 20.1 As the pit board area is generally located within the boundary of the race track itself, any person wishing to access this area MUST sign the required indemnity and be identified by a supplied wristband and be wearing Hi-Viz vest Pit board sign on will be available at the Timing Tent each day. must sign on each day of the event. 20.3Any person wishing to enter the pit board area must be over 16 years of age, must be wearing enclosed footwear and must be utilising a pit board. (you must supply your own Hi-Viz vest). Vests may be available for sale at the venue by the Race Secretary The pit board area is only for communicating with the rider, it is not to be utilised for physical or mechanical assistance during racing, this will be considered outside assistance and penalties may be imposed One (1) person per senior competitor is permitted within the pit board area at any one time Junior pit board communication is not permitted The Clerk of Course reserves the right to evict any person for any reason from this area. 21. DRUG AND/OR ALCOHOL TESTING: 21.1 All competitors, parents/legal guardians of junior competitors and officials are advised that as part of the MA drug education program, drug testing may take place at any competition in accordance with Australian Sports Commission policy as implemented by the Australian Sports Drug Agency If any doubts exist over banned substances, it is recommended competitors telephone the Drugs in Sport Hotline on When drug testing takes place, the payment of prize money may be delayed at MQ s discretion until the results of the tests are known. 22. CODE OF CONDUCT: All competitors, officials, parents and legal guardians are reminded of the Motorcycling Australia By-Law CODE OF CONDUCT (as stipulated in the MOM s) which is a guide to appropriate behaviour at all motorcycle race meetings. This CODE OF CONDUCT applies to this event and WILL BE ENFORCED. 9

10 23. TIMETABLE: 23.1 Full Timetable/Race Schedule will be included in final instructions. All children must be back at their own camp by 9pm. Failure to comply may result in penalties ranging from fines to exclusion from the meeting. Please note the venue is under the control of meeting officials from gates open Friday to gates closed on Sunday afternoon For the purposes of drug and alcohol testing, the commencement of the meeting will be deemed to be the start time of scrutineering with the completion of the meeting for the participant being when the participant has vacated the venue. 24. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION: Circuit Description Rnd 1 Townsville 1450 metres of clay base with added sand and loam. Rnd 2 Tivoli Raceway Tivoli Raceway is a clockwise track, 1.65 km s in length, it is a mixture of clay and loamy soil, with man-made obstacles. 10

11 25. CIRCUIT INSPECTION: All competitors will have the opportunity of walking over the length of the course to be used for racing prior to practice commencing, for the purposes of familiarising themselves with the layout and condition of the course. 26.STARTS: All starts will be by self-penalizing gates. A two minute board will be displayed and competitors must be ready to start after the two minutes as per MOM s. After this time a 15/5 second signal will be used with the gate dropping a minimum of 5 seconds after the 5 second board has been displayed. Starts may not be delayed after the two minutes has expired. Forty (40) gates will be utilised. 27. PRACTICE: 26.1 The 1 st lap of practice will be under a waved yellow flag. Practice is limited to 125% of the grid per group (50 bikes). Practice will also become Qualifying after lap 1 for gate pick purposes Race format will be as per paragraph twelve (12) There will be one sight lap on Sunday before the start of the first race. 28. NOISE: 29.1 Generators will be required to be turned off by 10 pm each night until 6 am in the morning Sound testing may take place at any time at the discretion of the Steward, Clerk of Course or Sound Control Officer. Machines which fail a sound test will not be allowed to compete until satisfactory passing a re-test. Refer to Motocross chapter for details. It is suggested that all competitors be prepared to adjust/replace exhaust systems that do not comply. 29. GST: The Goods and Services Tax affects the payment of prize money. If you do not provide an ABN or declare the sport is a hobby, the Promoter must withhold 48.5% of prize money over $75.00 which is otherwise payable to you. Please tick one of the boxes on the entry form and if appropriate provide your ABN to ensure the full amount of prize money is paid to you. 30. ELECTRONIC TIMING: 32.1 Electronic timing will be utilised at this event and is compulsory for all competitors Transponders must be fitted for all practice sessions It is the competitor s responsibility to ensure that the transponder is mounted correctly and securely to prevent damage from fouling other components on the machine The onus is on the parent/guardian of junior competitors to ensure that the correct transponder is on the correct machine prior to each event All competitors are required to provide their MA Licence in exchange for a timing transponder if hired Transponders must be picked up and returned to the designated person/s MQ have agreed that they will not re-issue or renew the licenses of anyone until their transponder/s is returned and/or all outstanding fees are paid. MQ will enforce payment of any costs or fees When a transponder is transferred to the competitor, it then becomes the competitor s responsibility to pay for any repairs or replacement costs of the transponder if damaged or lost whilst in their care For transponders not returned on the same day, or not returned to the designated person/s, in addition to the late return fee, the hirer is responsible for the transponder until it arrives back at the designated place (Motorcycling Queensland, PO Box 2072, Ipswich 4305) This includes whilst in transit with Australia Post and by Courier. No excuse will be entertained for non-delivery. It is recommended transponders be hand delivered. If returning by Courier or hand delivering, please ring first for an address It is the competitors responsibility to ensure that transponders are returned in a good, clean condition at the end of the event, or if due to machine failure or injury before the machine leaves the pit area. Competitors MAY be charged an additional LATE RETURN FEE of $20 per day per transponder for transponders that are not returned correctly. Some leeway may be given in special circumstances, if the transponder is returned on the Monday following the meeting or posted (post marked) on that Monday, however, any leeway given is strictly at the discretion of Motorcycling Queensland. Transponders returned after the Monday will be charged $20 for every day late. (i.e. 5 days late = $100 late fee) TRANSPONDER LOSS OR DAMAGE: If you have PURCHASED your transponder any damage is fully insured. Loss of your transponder will incur a replacement cost. Please note that the subscription is not insured if lost or stolen If RENTING a Transponder LOSS or DAMAGE up to $405 replacement cost. 11

IMAGES AND VISION Advertising and Endorsements: 31.1 The Promoter reserves the right to use the images and names of any competitor, team or manufacturer in any present or future event merchandising, videos, TV commercials, posters and printed material as it sees fit In the event of any incident, the Promoter has the right to request a copy of any relevant recorded footage. 32. PRODUCT OR SERVICE RETAILING: 32.1 No person other than an official event sponsor, who has signed an agreement stating such, may retail any product or service within the venue bounds unless prior written approval has been granted by the Promoter The penalty for undertaking the retail of a product or service without express permission will be eviction from the event. No exceptions. 33. SPECIAL NOTES & WARNINGS: 34.1 Pit bikes, pushbikes, quads, scooters, golf buggies and ATVs are not permitted at any time during the meeting including evenings Body piercings must be covered with tape or removed Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied and secured under clothing whilst competing Smoking is strictly prohibited whilst trackside, this includes the start and marshalling areas The Club reserves the right to enforce a designated bike wash area No DOGS (with the exception of guide dogs) are permitted at the venue No PA, Bike or loud noise before 8am or after 9pm 34.8 Generators must be off at 10pm Pit areas to be left clean.
