2 Description This document describes how to start using a Euroscan MX2. Requirements - Euroscan MX2 PF7 If the MX2 will be used for a connection to a fridge: - Fridge Harness cable The integrated Remote On-Off on the MX2 gives the ability to remotely and manually switch on/off a Fridge unit. To be able to successfully use this feature, the following requirements are needed: - Euroscan Remote cable set Euroscan Partnumbers MX Harness (without Toggle / Override Switch) MX Harness (with Toggle / Override Switch) MX2 2.1 (without Harness, without Toggle / Override Switch) MX Harness (without Toggle / Override Switch) MX Harness (with Toggle / Override Switch) MX2 1.9 (without Harness, without Toggle / Override Switch) MX2 selection The MX2 2.1 is the UMTS/3G 900MHz and 2100MHz variant, which should be used in: - Europe - Asia - Africa - Oceania The MX2 1.9 is the UMTS/3G 850MHz and 1900MHz variant, which should be used in: - North America - Latin America Please check with your provider before ordering! 3 Toggle/Override Switch This switch is used to enable or disable remote on/off control of the Reefer. If the switch is not connected, the remote on/off control will always be enabled. Remote control will always be possible. If the Remote functionality is required for the MX2 connected to a fridge, please see the additional Reefer manuals for proper installation: - Carrier EN-MAN Thermoking EN-MAN Fridge Harness When ordering the MX2 for use with a fridge, recommended is ordering a unit with Fridge Harness cable. The connectors of the Fridge Harness cable are: - Reefer (COM2 of MX2). Used for communication to a Fridge. - Debug (COM1 of MX2). Used for communication to other Euroscan products or EuroTool7. - Remote. Used for remote and manual fridge on/off control. For proper installation instructions see the additional Reefer manuals. General mounting guidelines The Euroscan MX2 embeds an internal GSM/UMTS antenna and GPS antenna. Both antennas require at least 5cm distance from any metal or conducting material. EN-MAN of 10

4 The SIM Configuration of the Euroscan MX2 Skip this chapter if the SIM card is supplied by Euroscan The MX2 requires an activated SIM card to come online and show data in the webinterface. To configure the MX2 with your SIM card, please follow these steps. Requirements: - A powered Euroscan MX2 PF7 - A RS232 service cable (Partnumber ), or a Bluetooth port / dongle (in the near future). - The EuroTool7 application (Version or higher) Hook the MX2 via the RS232 debug/programming cable to your PC/Laptop, or connect over Bluetooth (in the near future). Select the correct COMport in EuroTool7 under the Settings tab. Then go back to the Local tab. Once the unit is detected press View/Change Configuration and start adjusting the following settings: 1) Enter the APN SIM settings of the used card. 2) Unscrew lid of MX2 housing with a Torx TX20 screwdriver. Be careful while power is still supplied! EN-MAN of 10

5 3) Open SIM card holder. Insert SIM card. Close and lock SIM holder. EN-MAN of 10

6 4) Screw lid on MX2 housing with a Torx TX20 screwdriver. The required torque is 1,2Nm. 5) In EuroTool7, go to the Terminal tab. Go to menu (igprs Status). Wait for Status: Connected to server. You may press 0 on your keyboard to refresh this screen. This may take a few minutes. If this takes longer, please review your APN settings and SIM card contract if card is activated. Environmental In the case of the MX2 recorder being discarded, potential environmental hazardous components should be removed and discarded safely. A 3,2 V backup battery has been integrated in the recorder circuit, to preserve clock settings etc. Separate the lithium cell from the recorder s main PCB and deliver it to the appropriate waste treatment centre. Dispose separately: Do NOT throw batteries into the regular waste bin! EN-MAN of 10

7 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Q: I can t connect with the unit using EuroTool7. A: Are you using the correct PC COMport? Is the unit powered on? Are you using the correct connector? Q: Why are the LEDs not blinking anymore? A: Supply voltage is too low. Please make sure you apply either 12V or 24V at system startup. Q: Why does my unit not go online? A: Are the APN settings (Communication menu, EuroTool7) correct? Is a SIM card inserted? Is the SIM card activated? Is the unit powered on? Q: Which screwdriver do I need to open the MX2? A: Use a Torx TX20 screwdriver. Closing the MX2 needs to be done with a torque of 1,2Nm. EN-MAN of 10
