1 President s Corner HAPPY LABOR DAY! First, I ve got to apologize to everyone. There was no excuse for my actions and getting the club all upset. I had just been told that I was not running the club very well then I go and act like a jerk. Sorry!! Rochester Fair- September 13 th at 1 PM with the transfer sled. There will be no 3000 LB. class. There will be a 12,500and 14,000 Lb class.there will be speed limits. September 21 st There will be a stone boat pull at 10 AM, fair rules. There will be no 3000,12,500 or 14,000 LB. class. On September 18 th, the club will be helping Lenny with a pickup truck pull. Lucien will probably be scared to pull against my DODGE with his ford. September 28 th and October 5 th we will be at Greg Reed s for stone boat pulls at 9AM. At this point, I am unsure whether there will be a food concession. Check the website for an update. October 19 th, there will be a fun pull at Lenny s Mother s farm. There will be a potluck lunch, bring something and have a good time. This will be a stone boat pull. Willie Ball is having his Tilton Northfield pull the same day, October 19 th. November 5 th is the end of the year banquet at 5:00 PM at the Knights of the Pythias Hall in Berwick. The price is $10.00 per person. BYOB. We have to have a count by October 19 th so the hall can order enough food. The menu includes roast beef and ham. Punky and the garden tractor club had a pull in Saco to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. Lots of money was raised and the kids had a great time with a barbecue at noontime. Great job, Punky and crew, to see more SMGTC website. SOUTHERN MAINE TRACTOR CLUB SEPTEMBER 2008 WEBSITE: IMPORTANT BANQUET INFORMATION!!!! I am getting embarrass to bring a tractor to the pulls anymore. I have been beaten by Willie Whitten every time and she has been beaten by Dick Smith every time he has pulled. BAD!! 2 PUNKY S TIDBITS Hi Everyone, I have two fabulous pulls to report on. First one being the fun pull we had at Charlie Coles to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation. What can I possibly say I am so proud to be a part of an organization with such big hearts. What we did, as a small group of people, has just tugged on my big ol, tough guy, feelings. In a short amount of time and little knowledge of what we were doing, we raise $ by just getting together and putting on a pull and inviting some children to spend a day having fun with us. The Boom Road Team, as I like to call them, had the idea and pulled it all together. The kids were awarded trophies, hats and small toy tokens that several of our members sponsored for them. Mac Tools, Shaw Brothers Construction, Flaherty Farms, Dayton Sand and Gravel, and several others donated and participated in the event. An auction (by Ernie Lowell), a raffle on a generator by Georges Small Engine Repair (George Bragg), a Lemon aid stand (by some of the youth pullers), a 50/50 that was donated back into the fund by Patricia Tarbox, and some personal donations. All of this made a big huge smile on the face of Ilene Chretian s face as her hand covered her heart when she accepted the moneys we raised that day. There were many door prizes donated for the cause and there are too many for me to mention them all, but I do thank each and everyone of you for that generosity. I have been dreaming up some ideas for this event for next year. I truly look forward to doing this again. Thank you everyone!! The Acton Fair was another successful pull. You all did such a nice job. Things went smoothly and safely, and I appreciated everyone being on deck when called. We all seemed to have a good time, even though we were sort of rushed on time. Sorry for the confusion on the final class. Some wanted to carry it over to the next pull, others did not. I am glad we completed it that night. John Mayo won the 50/50 and donated part of it back to the club. Thanks John and Heather. There were very few chances sold on the mini tractor, so we will sell again at the next pull and draw the winner then. Check it out at the registration table. We have t-shirts, hats and stickers for sale also. We have had a banner donated to us from Napa Auto in Sanford and we have also a new banner from the Make a wish pull. They will be on display at our future pulls. Our next pull is at Acton Fairgrounds on Sept 6 th at 9am. I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
