Auburn (#2 in both polls), Georgia (#6 - USA Today/ESPN; #7 - AP), Tennessee (#13 - AP; #15 - USA Today/ESPN) and LSU (#16 in both polls) were ranked in both final polls while Florida was ranked #25 in the final USA Today/ESPN poll. Counting post-season bowl games, the Southeastern Conference was (.667) against non-conference opponents in The SEC has won at least twothirds of its non-conference games every year for the past 14 seasons (since 1991). This year, the SEC s winning percentage was third among the 11 Division I-A conferences - Big 12 (32-11,.744) and ACC (27-13,.675). For the 24th straight season, the Southeastern Conference led the nation in total attendance with 5,879,323 fans attending 79 home games in SEC stadiums. Also, for the seventh straight season, the SEC led in average attendance, with an average of 74,421 fans at SEC stadiums in SEC stadiums were filled to percent capacity in Seven Southeastern Conference football studentathletes won individual post-season awards following the 2004 season. Georgia senior defensive end David Pollack earned the Chuck Bednarik Award (top defensive player), Rotary Lombardi Award (top defensive lineman), Lott Trophy (excellence on and off playing field) and the Ted Hendicks Award (top defensive end). LSU senior Ben Wilkerson was a co-winner of the Rimington Award as the nation s top center and Auburn senior cornerback Carlos Rogers won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation s top defensive back. Tennessee senior offensive lineman Michael Munoz won the Vincent DePaul Draddy Award as the nation s top football scholar-athlete while South Carolina freshman wide receiver Tim Frisby was the recipient of the Disney Wide World of Sports Spirit Award and Kentucky senior punter Sevin Sucurovic won the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl Inspirational Award. Georgia senior quarterback David Greene, along with Munoz, were recipients of National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete fellowships. The Southeastern Conference had six players listed on the NCAA Consensus All-America Football Team. The players listed on the consensus All-America team had to reach the majority of votes competing against players at that position only in the five first-team All- America squads used by the NCAA for this chart - Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation and The Sporting News. The SEC's six players are Tennessee offensive tackle Michael Munoz, LSU center Ben Wilkerson, Georgia defensive end David Pollack, LSU defensive end Marcus Spears, Auburn cornerback Carlos Rogers and Georgia safety Thomas Davis.
