1 2016 Florida Football Postgame Quotes Jim McElwain, Florida Head Coach Opening Statement: Both teams played their tails off and it s a lot of fun to see the guys compete out there. [Also], a lot of them know each other, so to see the handshakes [after the game] is something special. The town of Jacksonville and what they do to support this game, both schools and both [its] fan bases, it s special. It s great to win. I think some freshmen were jumping a little bit, but we seemed to handle that in the second half and played OK. Defensively, other than not losing contain, which really hurt us, that quarterback (Jacob Eason) they have is something special. He s going to be a guy we are going to have to contend with here at Florida for a lot of years to come. We did a great job of scrambling out of the pocket with our rush lanes in the second half and stayed disciplined with our eyes in the secondary. I m disappointed on the early sack. But, overall being able to get a few first downs [was good] for our O-Line and team. This never gets old, this one. It s a lot of fun. On having Jarrod Davis play: I can t say enough. He (Jarrad Davis) practiced Wednesday and got beat up by a tackling dummy on one play. He was there Thursday and at the full walkthrough Friday. He came back in after warmups and said, Coach I m playing. That was up to him. He is the heart and soul of this team and for him this game meant a lot. On defensive confidence: They were a little rattled when they gave up those scrambled throws. As long as you do your job [and] stay disciplined in what you re doing, then you have a chance to be pretty good. I thought our defensive front did a great job. I think Daniel McMillian played as a good of a game as he has played. It was that personnel grouping that fit that. There s a lot of happy Gators out there.

2 Redshirt Sophomore QB Luke Del Rio 2016 Florida Football Postgame Quotes Florida Players Opening Statement: It was big for us today. Obviously an SEC East opponent, but also being Florida-Georgia. The biggest thing we wanted to do was establish the line of scrimmage, and be able to run the ball when we wanted to. And usually when you can do that, you end of winning, so I thought the offensive line did a tremendous job today. They are growing up quick. They are really young, we have some freshman on the offensive line and wide outs doing a good job of taking advantage of the opportunities they were given. I need to do a better job at giving them accurate balls, but for the most part I m really happy with the team s performance. It was a good team win, we are happy to be ahead in the SEC East, and we are looking forward to this stretch that we have coming up. Coach Mac said no matter you guys are still good enough to win the SEC, how much do you believe that and how much is focused on no matter what is going on? One hundred percent. I believe it with every bone in my body. We are getting better every week. We eliminated some of the turnovers. Other than the first throw I had today, I felt like I didn t force many balls. Just coming back from the injury I was a little rusty, but as an offense we are doing such a great job of getting in rhythm in our drives. Getting eight, 10, 12-play drives are big. It tires out and demoralizes a defense. Redshirt Junior LB Alex Anzalone On the emotional impact of having Jarrad Davis play: "He's our Mike linebacker, so he's the guy who runs the show. If you lose him, it's a big hole to fill. You saw on the field today what he can do, and how he's a big emotional leader on our team." On how tough it would be to play against the Gators defense: "It's hard. You see the speed on our defense. There aren't a lot of holes on our defense from the DBs down to the linebackers and the defensive line. There aren t a lot of places that you can pick at. One guy who stepped up today was Duke Dawson. You saw two or three huge plays that he made and I know he wanted to step up. He showed that he can cover very well." Junior CB Duke Dawson On what he saw on the fourth down play: "The two routes that I was thinking Georgia would run were a slant or an out-cut, and he (Eason) gave me the out cut, so I under cut it and made a play on the ball." On how much he felt like Georgia threw his way to avoid throwing at Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson: "A lot. You've got to respect those two guys. They re the best duo in college football. That's one thing I talked to everybody about; I thought they were going to come at me, Marcus (Maye), Marcel (Harris), and Nick (Washington). This whole week, we practiced on getting our hands on guys, pressing in the slot, and that's what we did."

3 Sophomore RB Jordan Scarlett On how he felt Florida was prepared for Georgia: Coach Mac definitely preaches on knowing our opponent, and all week we have been studying them and their defense. I think offensively and defensively, we were prepared for what they had going on. On how he thinks this win makes a statement for Florida: I think that we did a great job showing the nation what we can do in the trenches and how we can control the offense. Like I said, we can do a lot better. We need to improve on our passing game, and we need to be able to take a couple more shots and get some more explosive plays.

4 2016 Georgia Football Postgame Notes vs. #14 Florida, Oct. 29 *Bulldogs Become First Team To Score Early On UF: Coming in today, No. 14 Florida had not allowed any points in the first quarter this year and only 13 total in the 1st half. Georgia managed 10 points in the first half and trailed In the second half, Georgia failed to score in falling Entering the game, UF s scoring defense led the SEC and ranked second nationally at 12 points per game. *Defense And Field Position: Georgia s leading tacklers were sophomore Deandre Baker, making a career-high 10 stops plus his first career sack and sophomore Roquan Smith with nine stops including a TFL. For the game, UF s average starting field position was its own 41 while Georgia s was its own 29. In the first half, Florida s average starting field position was its own 39 while the Bulldogs began on average at their own 28. The Bulldogs held the Gators to 14 points as they tallied 133 yards on 35 plays. UF s first TD drive covered just 39 yards and gave them a 7-3 edge with 17 seconds left in the 1 st quarter. Their second TD drive was just 44 yards and made it with 1:37 left in the first half. In the second half, UF s third TD drive covered 56 yards on 10 plays and made it Overall, UF had 73 plays and 231 yards of offense while limiting Georgia to 52 plays and 164 yards of total offense. Georgia was held under 50 yards rushing for the first time the LSU game in 2009 when it had 45. In the second quarter, he had a six-play, 75-yard TD drive that put Georgia in front The drive featured a 38-yard completion to sophomore Terry Godwin on 3 rd and 8, which was a career long for the sophomore. The drive was capped by a 14- yard TD pass to freshman Riley Ridley on a 3 rd -and 4. Ridley injured his ankle late in the first half and did not return, finishing with the 1 TD catch. Godwin was Georgia s leading receiver today with five catches for 57 yards. *Another INT For Sanders: On Florida s opening possession of the game, junior DB Dominick Sanders had a 31- yard interception return that gave Georgia the football at the UF 25. It led to a 25-yard field goal. It was the first points surrendered by the Gators in the first quarter this year. It was a seven-play, 18-yard drive in 3:50 for a 3-0 advantage. For Sanders, it was his second interception of the year and 11 th of his career. Sanders now has 300 career INT return yards, moving him up to 3 rd in school history, trailing only Jake Scott (315) and Scott Woerner (303). *Points Off Turnovers: Georgia scored 3 points off 1 turnover in the first quarter. Junior Dominick Sanders notched his 11 th career interception and returned it 31 yards to the UF 25 as it led to a field goal and a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs now are +6 in Turnover Margin for the year. This year, Georgia has converted 16 turnovers into 33 points while Bulldog opponents have scored 45 points off 10 Bulldog miscues. Today, the Bulldogs did not have any turnovers for the second straight game. *For Starters: A couple of Bulldogs extended their team-leading starting streaks with center Brandon Kublanow at 33 consecutive games for the offense and cornerback Malkom Parrish at 21 in a row for the defense. Junior wide receiver Javon Wims and sophomore defensive tackle Jonathan Ledbetter made their first career starts. Ledbetter had a career-high six tackles. *Punting Options: After freshman Marshall Long had three punts for an average of 32.0 yards, junior Brice Ramsey came in for the final punt of the first half, and it covered 36 yards. Coming in today, Long had handled all the punts with a 39.3 average on 39 punts. Ramsey took over primary punting duties last year starting with the Florida game and finished the 2015 season with a 41.9 average on 25 punts. In the second half, Ramsey punted twice and finished with a 32.0 average on three total while Long ended the day with five punts for a 32.0 average including a long of 41. *Captains: Georgia s captains were junior Nick Chubb (TB), junior Dominick Sanders (DB) and senior Brandon Kublanow (C). *Up Next: Georgia (4-4, 2-4 SEC) wraps up its regular season road schedule with a trip to Kentucky (5-3, 4-2 SEC) Saturday. 5 2016 Florida Football Postgame Quotes Kirby Smart, Georgia Head Coach On the running game and its impact on the offense: It s hard any time the (opponents) make you one dimensional. It s hard to be successful. It s frustrating because I really thought we d be able to run in this game. There were glimpses, but nothing consistent. When you can t run consistently, it makes you onedimensional. On the effect of Florida s pass rush: Great pass rush. That s what they do best. The pass rush protects the secondary, and they ve got some really good pass rushers. (Jacob Eason) made some throws that helped us, but we couldn t sustain it. We were one-dimensional, and that made it tough. On the field position battle: What s disappointing is a lot of it was special teams but some of it was our defense not stopping them on third down. We had two 3rd-and-10s (that Florida converted), and you should stop that nine times out of 10. We re better defensively than giving up first downs on 3rd-and-10. On the fight of the team throughout the game: I wouldn t expect anything less. We ve got a good group of leaders, a good group of men. They fought hard, and I m sure they ll continue to do so. On moving forward to Kentucky: They re much improved. Coach Stoops has done a great job defensively, and they ve got a good team. Our kids have great leadership within them, a lot of pride. They want to perform well, it s important to them. They ve got a lot of pride. They ll be ready to go. I believe in them.

6 2016 Florida Football Postgame Quotes Georgia Players Georgia Center Brandon Kublanow On what went wrong for the offense... I m not sure. We have a lot of things to work on. Florida outplayed us and that s that. They played extremely hard, and they outplayed us, and that was the story of the game. On where the team goes from here... We stick together. We want to build a program here, Coach Smart is building a program here, and we believe in that. I know there is a bright future for UGA and we just have to keep working. Georgia Tailback Nick Chubb On the play of the offense... It s just frustrating. We couldn t really get things going. I felt like it was always threeand-out, and we weren t getting in a rhythm or anything, so it feels pretty bad. On the season to this point Every year you have expectations of coming in, doing good and eventually being undefeated. We re not that, so we have to accept who we are and continue to play. Georgia Defensive Back Deandre Baker On what the team needs to do moving forward... We have to get back this week and work hard. Kentucky is a good team also. We have to execute and get better. On defending Florida s Antonio Callaway... He s a great receiver. He and I have a history, we ve known each other since we were about 7, so it was a good matchup. Georgia Defensive Back Maurice Smith On the team s recent stretch... It s been kind of rough, but I really can t say I don t love it. Wins or losses, I just love to play football, just playing the game I love. I d go to war with those guys every time. Whether we lose or not, I just love playing. I don t think so. If people are doing that, then I ll try to step up and let them know that we have the rest of the season to go, and regardless of what happened in the past, we have to continue to improve and get better as a team.
