Saturday: Freshman defenseman Jake Levin, playing his first career game, scored two goals as Air Force and Holy Cross skated to a 3-3 overtime tie in an Atlantic Hockey Conference game, Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Hart Center in Worcester, Mass. Air Force (5-5-2 overall and AHC) ended a 140-minute scoring drought as Levin scored his first career goal to put the Falcons up 1-0. Levin s first shot was blocked by a Crusader, but Levin regained the puck and snapped a wrister from just inside the top of the right circle. Evan Giesler and Phil Boje assisted at 9:36. The Crusaders scored two goals in the final six minutes of the period for a 2-1 lead. Ryan Ferrill scored on the rush at 13:52 in a 4-on-4 situation. Then with 1:49 remaining, Scott Pooley was wide open in the slot and scored his league-leading ninth of the season. Early in the second period, the Crusaders took a 3-1 lead in another 4-on-4 situation. T.J. Moore took the puck out of a scrum and skated into the slot. His shot was saved, but Pooley put back the rebound at 5:41. Late in the period, junior Matt Serratore scored his team-leading fifth of the season. Boje s shot from the point was redirected on net by Giesler. Serratore collected the rebound in the left circle and cut the Crusader lead to 3-2 at 15:43. Early in the third period, Billy Christopoulos was busy as the Crusaders outshot the Falcons, 7-1, in the first five minutes. Levin s second of the game tied the score at 3-3 at the 5:20 mark. Jordan Himley s shot was saved, but Levin s blast from the point got past Paul Berrafato. Air Force controlled play the rest of the period, but the game was tied at the end of regulation. Air Force had one shot in overtime while Holy Cross had two, but neither team was able to score.
