I recognize and acknowledge that such risks of participation in an outdoor festival include, but are not limited to, personal injury and property damage due to crowds, vandals, traffic, inclement weather conditions, including rain, snow, as well as losses to theft. On behalf of myself, my heirs, successors and assigns, I do further agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify the Caseville Area Chamber of Commerce, its members, the City of Caseville, Caseville Resort & Marina and its officials, employees, agents and volunteers from any and all liability or responsibility whatsoever for injury (including death) to persons, for any damage to any City and/or Chamber and/or Caseville Resort & Marina property, or the property of others, arising out of, or resulting from, my participation in the 2019 event. I do hereby waive, release and discharge the Caseville Area Chamber of Commerce, its members, the City of Caseville, Caseville Resort & Marina and its officials, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all claims, demand, actions, damages and liabilities resulting or arising directly or indirectly out of my participation in the 2019 Broomball/Shanty Days Events. 3 27th ANNUAL SHANTY DAYS Caseville Chamber of Commerce 2019 Broomball Rules No High Brooms Unless It s a Penalty Shot 1. The size of the broomball arena is at the discretion of the Shanty Days Committee. 2. The goal size is at the discretion of the Shanty Days Committee. 3. An official broomball shall be used and provided by the Shanty Days Committee. 4. No devices for a player s protection shall be worn which are liable to cause injury to other players. Shin pads, if used, must be underneath clothing. Helmets for playing broomball are mandatory. (Snowmobile helmets are OK) No spike, studded or cleats of any kind. 5. Players will provide their own brooms, helmets and shirts. Commercial strength brooms are highly recommended. 6. A team shall consist of five players. No age restrictions apply to players on the ice, providing they are not high school students. All players must have attained the age of The teams shall change ends at the beginning of the second half. A toss of the coin will decide which team defends which end at the start of the game. Officials will call team captains to center ice. 8. After the ball has left the rink, the ball will be put in play by the opponents of the team causing the ball to leave the rink. 9. There shall be two halves of 10 minutes running time with a 5-minute break in-between. 10. In case of a tie score at the end of regulation play, there will be a shoot-off, alternating, until one team scores more goals than the other. 11. A goal shall not be allowed in any of the following cases: a) When the attacking team has committed a foul during the goal; b) When the attacking team has too many players on the ice; c) If any members of the attacking team were in or running through the goal crease when the goal was made from outside the crease, unless the goal keeper was outside the crease when the play was made. 13. Substitutions may be made only during a dead-ball situation. 14. An injured player may be substituted for at any time, but the injured player may not return to the game at any time. 15. The ball shall be faced off at center ice at the beginnings of each period, after a goal and a penalty shot and tie-up. 16. If the ball leaves the rink for any reason, the team causing the ball to leave will lose possession of the ball. 17. The ball may be played or stopped with the broom when the straw end of the broom is not more than waist-high off the ice. If any attempt is made to play the ball when the straw end of the broom is more than waist-high above the ice, the ball shall be awarded to the opposing team.

4 18. A team shall have only one goalkeeper or player with goalkeeper privileges on the ice at any one time. 19. The ball may be stopped by any part of the body, but may not be caught and thrown, batted or kicked. 20. During free ball situations, all defensive players must stay back six (6) feet. 21. In stopping the ball, the goalkeeper may catch it, propel it underhand/sideways or bat it with his hands or broom sideways, providing he is in the goal crease. 22. The goalkeeper shall be given three seconds, after catching the ball, to clear it. If after three seconds he has failed to clear the ball, the opposing team will take possession and play the ball in from the side of the rink. 23. When the ball is on the ice, no player other than the goalkeeper shall pick up, cover or trap the ball with his hands or body. 24. No player shall leave his feet to play an opponent. 25. A player without a broom may not participate in the game. A broken broom handle must be dropped to the ice immediately. A broken broom stops the game, and the team in possession retains the ball. 26. Interference with an opponent not playing the ball is not permitted anywhere on the ice under any circumstances. 27. No defensive player (except goalie) may stand or position himself in the goal crease. 28. There shall be NO charging, roughing, elbowing, or kneeing, pushing from behind, cross-checking, tripping or slashing with the broom, or jabbing with either end of the broom. 29. There shall be no charging into, roughing, interfering with, or any other outside fouls against the goalkeeper while he is inside of his crease. 30. There shall be no fighting, slugging with fists or broom, kicking, or attempting to do so to anybody involved in the contest. It will mean ejection from the game, and possibly, the balance of Shanty Days. 31. The official time-keeper will stop the clock only when a goal is scored, ball is out of the rink, referees time out, or when a penalty shot is being attempted. 32. Minor Penalty is awarding of the ball to opponents to be played from the side of the rink nearest point of infraction. 33. A Penalty Shot is a free shot at the goal keeper. The ball will be set on the ice 15 feet in front of the goal and the player attempting the shot may stand stationary and shoot the ball, or run up to the ball and shoot. No rebounds will be played. 34. During the Penalty Shot, the goalkeeper must remain completely inside the goal crease including the broom. Violation will result in awarding the goal. 35. The player fouled will attempt the shot (injured excluded). 36. A Penalty Shot that is not caused directly by a foul against a certain player will be attempted by any player of the offended team.

5 37. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES MAY BE CONSUMED BY PLAYERS DURING THE EVENT IN WHICH THEY ARE PARTICIPATING. SUCH VIOLATIONS COULD CAUSE EJECTION FROM THE GAME AND WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. 38. Referee s decisions on all matters will be final and absolute! Failure to comply with the ruling and unruly conduct will be cause to immediate forfeiture or dismissal. Any protest to a decision or goal must be rectified immediately. (Person involved: Referee) 39. Penalty Box will be used instead of penalty shot at the sole discretion of the referee making the call. 40. If at any time, ball is in any corner, only one player from each team is allowed to play the ball. Any other player or players who are involved while ball is in corner shall be given a two-minute penalty in the penalty box. Referee s Discretion. Penalty shot * Attempting to or playing ball above 3 feet * Catching, holding, carrying, throwing, batting or kicking ball * Goalkeeper holding ball for more than 3 seconds * Pick up, throw, cover, or trap ball with hands * Leaving feet to play opponent - not flagrant * Interference - not flagrant * Player in crease. 1 st : Warning 2 nd : Penalty shot * Holding player or broom MAJOR (Two Minute Penalty) * Conduct of persons other than players * Injury broom, high broom * Leaving feet to play opponent - flagrant * Playing with broken broom handle * Interference - flagrant * Throwing broom * Defensive player in crease (after warning) * Charging, roughing, elbowing, tripping, slashing, or broom jabs * Pushing, body charging into boards or goal cage * Foul against goalkeeper * Intentional delay of game (after warning) * A Penalty shot will be taken if a team commits a major penalty twice in one period of play. GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY * Flagrant roughing * Fighting * Foul or abusive language (after warning) 1 st 2 min. penalty 2 nd ejection. * The player in question will be ejected from the game and the opposing team will be awarded 2 penalty shots. FORFEITURE OF CONTEST * Refusal to obey decision of referee
