1 BOSTON BRUINS PROSPECT REPORT March 15, 2011 Semi-monthly Statistical and Noteworthy Updates on all players in the Bruins organization not currently on the Boston roster Notes: Professional Player Spotlight: Anton Khudobin (Providence Bruins, AHL) Amateur Player Spotlight: Ryan Spooner (Kingston Frontenacs, OHL) All statistics are current through games of March 14, 2011 Carl Soderberg is not listed, as he remains under contract to a European team.

2 PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT PROFESSIONAL PROSPECT AMATEUR PROSPECT ANTON KHUDOBIN Providence Bruins (AHL) Goaltender lbs. Age 24 Acquired: Feb. 28, 2011 trade w/minnesota for Jeff Penner & rights to Mikko Lehtonen RYAN SPOONER Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) Center lbs. Age 19 Acquired: 2010 Entry Draft (3rd pick/45th overall) On the day of the trade deadline, Anton Khudobin did not expect to be traded. The 24-year-old goaltender had gone with a 2.58 GAA for the Houston Aeros of the AHL, and also made four appearances for the Minnesota Wild. His stint in Minnesota included a 32-save shutout of the Vancouver Canucks, who have scored more goals this season than any other team in the NHL and currently lead the NHL in points with 101. [The trade] was actually surprising for me, Khudobin said. I didn t even think about it, I didn t even expect it. The General Manager of Providence called me and asked if somebody from the Minnesota Wild had called me. And after that I figured I got traded. The 5 11, 199-lb native of Kazakhstan has played well since joining the Providence Bruins, going with a 2.29 GAA in six appearances. On March 6, he shut out Bridgeport in only his second appearance with his new team. Coming here is a good fit, a good team, Khudobin said. I met everybody, the coaches, some of the guys, and yes, I m comfortable with this group of guys. Originally drafted by Minnesota in the 7 th round (206 th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Khudobin first played in North America for the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL in the season. He played the next season in Russia with Metallurg Magnitogorsk before coming to play professionally in the U.S. I had to come back because I had a conflict in Russia, Khudobin said. So I came back and played one year in Russia and after I said, I m going to sign next year. Khudobin has played in the AHL with Providence and Houston, and also in the ECHL with the Texas Wildcatters and the Florida Everblades. After getting 102 AHL games under his belt, Khudobin feels he is ready for the NHL. Guys [in the NHL] have more skill than the AHL, guys think faster, guys shoot faster. Everything is pretty much faster, Khudobin said. For me, it was actually easier playing in the NHL than the AHL. I think I ve played enough in the AHL, so I m ready for the NHL At just 19-years-old Boston Bruins prospect and Kingston Frontenacs center Ryan Spooner, is already being recognized as a top-level player in the Ontario Hockey League. Recently, Spooner was named one of the best stick-handlers, skaters and smartest players in the league as part of the OHL Eastern Conference Coaches Poll. That was awesome it was nice to see that my hard work is kind of paying off, Spooner said of the recognition. Through 59 games with the Frontenacs this season, the five-foot-ten, 175-pound lefty has totals, and finds himself second on his team in scoring. I think I m trying to get the puck on the net, when you do that things happen and use my speed, Spooner said. That s probably my biggest strength, my speed. The Kanata, Ontario native began his OHL career with the Peterborough Petes in the season, where he had totals in 62 games. Following his second year with the Petes, Spooner was drafted by the Bruins in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft with the team s second round pick (45 th overall). I was pretty nervous on draft day, Spooner said. But I was happy to be drafted by the Bruins, they re a great organization and I look forward to maybe playing for them one day. After being drafted, Spooner participated in the Boston Bruins Development and Rookie camps, where the B s coaching staff worked with him on improving his defensive game. I really focused on that because I knew that was the only way I was going to be in camp, was to play smart and play well in my own end, Spooner said. I m just looking to learn from that and the experience I had there. Spooner will look to take the advice from the Bruins coaches and translate it into a deep playoff run for the Frontenacs, who have already secured their post-season bid. I d probably say just helping my team get as far in the playoffs as we can, Spooner said of his goals for the remainder of the season.
