2 General Information 110th Semi-AnnuAl SAle LOCATION: The sale will be held at the South Central Regional Stockyards located in Vienna, MO on Highway 42. Physical Address: 221 Highway 42 West, Vienna, MO TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash unless other arrangements are made in advance with the owner. Settlements are to be made with the clerk of the sale immediately at the conclusion of the auction. All stock will be at buyer s risk as soon as bidding ends, but the management will attend to loading on trucks in compliance with instructions from the purchasers. GUARANTEE: All cattle will sell under the suggested sale terms and condtiions of the American Hereford Association. HEALTH: Individual health papers will be furnished with each lot sold. A numbers are Calfhood Vaccinated. All bulls are semen tested. All bulls will be weighed and measured from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on the Friday before the sale. BIDS: The Auctioneer-In-Charge will have final say in regard to all final bids. MAIL or WIRE BIDS: We hope each and everyone interested can attend the sale in person, but those who cannot may mail or wire bids to the Auctioneer or any of the Representatives. AI CERTIFICATES: Any female that is bred to an AI sire not owned by the seller will NOT have an AI certificate furnished. SALE ORDER: The sale order will be as follows: Cow/Calf Pairs, Open Heifers, Bulls, Bred Heifers, Bred Cows, followed by Commerical Females. CATALOG ERRORS: Statements from the auction block take precedence over printed material. The most current EPDs from AHA issued registrations were used when available. The progeny of the very best sires in the industry like Revolution, Logic, Online, Enhancer 2D, Mr Felt 3008,262D, Wrangler, 103T, and Feltons 517 and are offered in this sale. It is a great time to be in the beef cattle business. The demand for beef is growing. A lot of low quality cattle are going to market at this time. Cattle numbers are in decline and good quality cows will be extremely hard to find next spring. Now is a great time to send those old inefficient cows to market and replace them with young feed efficient herefords. There are several groups of young heifers in this sale that are half sisters that will put consistency in your herd while remaining productive for many years to come. The fertility, longevity, disposition and efficiency of the Hereford breed is unsurpassed. A study in England proved that for the same amount of feed you could feed 106 Hereford cows or 100 of the same size Angus based cows. The combined feed efficiency and heterosis of the hereford bull has caused the demand to exceed the supply. There several high quality service age bulls as well as young prospects in this sale. 37 CentrAl missouri Polled hereford BreederS ASSoCiAtion HOME SWEET HOME Protecting your Home from Probate Court Home is where your heart is. It s where you take refuge from winter blizzards and summer storms. And for most of us, our home is also our greatest asset. When we worry about what will happen to our belongings after we pass away, our home is often the most important possession we consider in passing on to the future. Missouri law offers several great options in helping pass on the home to future generations. Some people choose a Last Will as the method for determining what will happen to their home after they pass away. A Will can be simple, easy and often, effective for this purpose. But many people do not realize that with only a Will, the family home must still go through the process of Probate Court. The beneficiary deed is a fairly new addition to Missouri s options in estate planning. Unlike the Will, a beneficiary deed does not go before the Probate Court, and the transfer does not wait several months for a court s approval. Instead, the deed simply becomes effective upon the individual s death, and the property is automatically transferred to those designated in the deed. The deed is also a relatively simple and inexpensive method to plan for the future of one s home. Joint tenancy and common titles to property can also be a good method to provide effective property transfer. Particularly for couples or company partners, joint tenancy can be an excellent estate planning tool. On the down side, while a joint tenancy avoids Probate, it does require the surrender of some property rights prior to one s death, giving up some control. Other methods, such as trusts, are more detailed, and often more expensive. However, each individual s needs are always unique, and given the importance of ensuring the work of your life is well provided for, it is often best to seek professional advice. A carefully drafted estate plan can provide a sound future for everything you have worked hard to accomplish. Economic models also predicted that after 10 years, due to increased fertility and longevity Hereford-sired females would generate a 20% advantage in herd size versus the straight Angus commercial cows due to increased calving and replacement options. 39 CentrAl missouri Polled hereford BreederS ASSoCiAtion History of the Central Missouri Polled Hereford Breeder s association The Central Missouri Polled Hereford Breeder s Association was organized in Linn, Missouri in June 1952 as an effort to promote the Polled Hereford breed. Early members sought to exhange ideas at association meetings and cooperate to present their cattle at annual shows & sales. Over the past sixty years, more than one hundred sales of quality hereford cattle have been hosted by the assoication. Under the early leadership of Mr. Richard Seifert, as president, and Mr. Lawrence Renn as secretary & treasurer, the association grew beyond the limits of Linn, Missouri, and became a collaboration of breeders throughout Central Missouri. In the Fall of 2012, Valley View Farms was recognized as the only breeder who has sold in every sale since the founding of the association. That tradition continues through his sons and grandsons who are still active members to this day. Today, the association owes its longevity to the tradition of selling high quality Polled Hereford cattle to breeders across the country. Cattle purchased at their sales have gone on to win championships at the Denver National shows. 39
