From there you cross the lake Lauwersmeer to the finish in Esonstad. In this first stage there will be a limited speed zone in the city canals of Groningen.

3 Races & Routes This two-day race goes from Groningen, via Esonstad, to Leeuwarden. Stage 1: Groningen Esonstad Stage 2: Esonstad Leeuwarden The first stage will start through the city canals of Groningen and up north via the Reitdiep towards Zoutkamp. From there you cross the lake Lauwersmeer to the finish in Esonstad. In this first stage there will be a limited speed zone in the city canals of Groningen. Later on, at the lock Dorkwerdersluis, the race will be neutralised, with a restart after crossing the Van Starkenborgh canal. A possible second neutralisation will be at lock Lammerburen. This lock is only closed in heavy weather conditions. In case the weather conditions do not allow us to cross the Lauwersmeer, the finish will be in Zoutkamp. The final decision about the possible second neutralisation and early finish will be announced in the General Team Briefing. The second stage will go from Esonstad, via the city of Dokkum, to Leeuwarden. There will be a neutralisation after the first part over the Lauwersmeer towards the lock Willem Lorésluis. It is possible that this first part will be taken out of the route in case the weather doesn t allow us to cross the Lauwersmeer. The final decision about the route will be announced early in the morning at Thursday July 5. The rest of the route contains two limited speed zones in the cities Dokkum and Leeuwarden. Therefore there is no special award ceremony for the stages. Regulations The race will be conducted subject to the provisions of the Notice of Race (NR), the current 2018 version of the Technical Regulations (TR), the current 2018 version of the Race Elements Catalogue (REC), the current 2018 version of the Young Solar Race Instructions (RI) and the Inland Navigation Police Regulations (BPR = Binnenvaart Politie Reglement). Collectively, these documents form the Rules, with possible subsequent additions and/or amendments to be implemented by the race organization. A deviation from the regulations above is the limited speed. There is no limited speed for participants during all races (except the limited speed zones). A new version of the Race Elements Catalogue is published on the website, version 2 July,

11 Inspections All boats will need a fully approved passport before the start of the race. Scheduled times for inspections will be announced by the organisation. Estela All teams are requested to use the Estela app for track & trace during the races. Please make use of this app with a separate phone. Team Captains Group app All teams should be member of the WhatsApp group for direct information on races and rules or other organizational info. Registration You are officially ready to race when: - All team members are registered - Team captain or first sailor has signed the Notice of Race - Entry fee has been paid (please show testimony of payment on arrival) - The boat has completed all technical steps - Team captain or first sailor has attended the palaver - One or more team members is member of the event WhatsApp group 11
