3 Rules Pool matches 1. Each game will be played over 2 chukkas of 8 minutes. Playing time 2. 2 minute rest period between chukkas. 3. Point allocation: 2 points for a win 1 point for a draw 0 points for a loss 4. The highest number of points shall determine the final pool positions. 5. In case of two teams on equal points, further classification will be as follows: The team winning the game between the two tied teams will be placed higher If the game was tied then the comparison will be based on goal difference If still tied then the most goals scored If still tied then the least goals conceded Penalty shootout 6. In case of three teams on equal points, further classification will only be determined by goal difference. If still tied, the best placed team from the previous year s tournament will occupy the higher ranking. New teams will be ranked lowest. Playoff Games. 1. Each group game will be played over 2 chukkas of 8 minutes Stop/Start. 2. Each playoff game will be played over 2 chukkas of 8 minutes. Stop/Start 3. Semi-Finals, 3 rd /4 th playoff and the Final will be played over 4 chukkas of 5 minutes. Stop/Start 4. The top school in each pool will automatically advance to the quarter finals. The no 2 and no 3 in each pool will play in a playoff game to determine the other quarter finalists minute rest period between chukkas for all 2 chukkas of 8 minutes matches. 6. Rest periods for the 4 chukkas of 5 minutes will be 1/2/1 minutes. 7. In the event of a draw in any playoff/finals matches we will go straight to penalties. 8. FINA Rules for penalties. 9. There will be 1 time-out per team allowed for the playoff games. 10. There will be 2 time-outs per team allowed for the Semi-Finals, 3 rd /4 th playoff and the Final.
4 General 1. All teams must be ready to play their games at the stipulated times. If you do not meet this requirement, the game and points shall be forfeited. 2. In the event of a team not arriving, the program will continue as normal. There will be no reshuffling of the program. 3. The tournament director/referee s decision is final. 4. The FINA water polo rules will apply during the course of the tournament. 5. Players excluded for brutality- a penalty is given and the team will play 2min30sec man down. The player shall serve a one game suspension. This will be the next game after the incident. 6. Each team must supply a referee for the match directly after their own. 7. Games will be stopped if lightning is present. In the event of bad weather, games may have to be shortened this will be done by the tournament referee in consultation with all coaches. Reshuffling of the game schedules might also occur in the event of load shedding or bad weather. 8. Only 13 players may play in a specific game. If you play more than 13 players you will forfeit the game! 9. White caps will start at the starting-block-end of the pool. Coaches and Managers 1. Please help to ensure that your teams are ready on time for all of their matches. Also please ensure that you report directly to your referee duty and save any team talks until you are done. This is essential for the tournament to run smoothly and efficiently. 2. Please remember that this is a school tournament. No foul language from players or coaches. Not even at your own players. 3. No parents are allowed to make a complaint to the tournament director. Only official complaints from team manager or coach will be handled. Tournament Director Mike Brady
