2 Endless Mountain Pool League FAQ Website: Facebook: Who is Endless Mt. Pool League? We are a not for profit pool league loosely based in the Carbondale area. How many players does a team need? Each team should have a minimum of 10 regular players. Subs are permitted as needed. How is the game played? We play partners 8-ball. Two players from each team play 3 games each, this constitutes a set. Each team will play 5 sets per night utilizing each of their 10 players for one set. A total of 15 games are played by each team per night. How long is the season? Season generally last 20 weeks from Mid-October to Mid-March but season length adjusts each year to ensure all teams play each other twice. How late does league play last? Play varies depending on the focus and skill level of each team. Assuming an 8 pm start play could be complete as early as 10 pm. What do I get for my dues? All dues are returned to the league players in prizes and banquet tickets Does my team have to travel? Teams will generally be home half of the weeks and be at an opposing bar for the rest. The goal is to have you alternate home and away each week.

5 Team Rules 1. Dues will be $50.00 per week. The money will be mailed in, with that night s dues submission slip, to the treasure post marked no later than the Tuesday following the match. 2. Home Team/bar is responsible for the quarters to pay for the games. 3. If dues are not paid 3 weeks in a row, it will go to a captains vote on how to deal with the issue. Possible results could include docked games, forfeited matches, or suspension for the remainder of that year. 4. No Betting or fighting allowed. Violations of this rule should be brought up to a committee member as soon as possible, and a captains vote may be called on the issue. 5. All Scores will be called in to the Vice President within 24 hours of the end of match. Texts, private messages on Facebook, s and actual calls are all acceptable. 6. All rules inquiries can be answered by any member of the committee. 7. All players and subs must be at least 21 years of age. 8. A player cannot shoot for two teams in one season. This applies to regular players as well as subs. a. A player whose team disbands with in the first half of the season and the stats for that team has been removed may join another team. b. NOTE: Only the weeks played on the active team count toward that player s eligibility for playoffs. 9. Players must play in at least ½ of the weeks minus 3 to qualify for the playoffs. In the event that a player not qualified for the playoffs shoots in the playoffs, once questioned by the opposing team, any games that player has played will be forfeited to the opposing team. a. If a team has less than 10 qualified players available the night of playoffs the team cannot use a player a second time, short team will forfeit remaining games where missing players would have shot. (see also game rule 3) b. Player Eligibility is via the honor system; however, if you a Captain is concerned a player does not qualify they are to text VP their concerns and shoot the night as scheduled! VP, or other committee member, will verify player eligibility in the first few days AFTER match is played. If a player is found no have fewer then the required games in prior to playoff wins for that players set will be forfeit. In extreme circumstances Captains may ask for consideration from opposing captains when a sub is needed. If extreme need to play a non-qualified sub is present and opposing captain will not make any consideration the matter can go to a captain s vote so the need can be demonstrated to and evaluated by the league as a whole. 10. Captains requesting a reschedule for a week s match should do so as early as possible. a. Rescheduled games must be shot in the ½ they were originally scheduled in b. In the case of a complete game forfeit, the score will be posted as 12-3 in favor of the team that did not forfeit, both teams are still required to submit dues. c. Must be called in directly to the opposing captain. d. Forfeits and re-schedule requests can only be called in by the Captains. 11. Any disputes will be handled by the actively shooting team members and the captains. If anyone who is not actively engaged in a match notices a potential violation they should approach their own captain who will in turn take the issue to the opposing captain. 6 12. Teams Disband In the event a team disbands stats will be handled as follows: a. Team has not played all other teams at least once All stats for the quitting team and the teams that did play them will be removed. b. Team has played all other teams at least once - Stats will remain in place to the mid-season mark. Any additional weeks played will be removed from both teams. c. If a team forfeits the last few games AND pays dues All stats are kept for all teams. All dues retained by the league. Tickets are given to all teams. 13. In the event a disagreement escalates past verbal arguments and ANY physical contact is made: 1. All play will stop for that evening. 2. Both team captains will contact the committee. And very briefly detail the nature of the incident. 3. Committee will schedule a time to meet with both teams at a neutral location. Purpose of this meeting will be to research the incident and compile a report of events. 4. Committee will then present report of events to a league wide captains meeting. Captains will accept Committee finding as fact and will then vote on punishment based solely on the facts found in the Committee report. 14. Playoff scheduling If a Home bar is closed during playoffs the Home team has the right to choose a neutral location to shoot. Home team is encouraged to choose from League bars. In the event all league bars are occupied or closed Home team may choose a bar in the Carbondale area that does not currently sponsor a team. Page 3 of 5 v. June 2018

7 Game Rules 1. The game is regular 8ball 2. All matches start at 8pm. If needed, the visiting team will be granted a fifteen minute grace period to allow players to get there. Grace period refers only to the start of the night. The 15 mins. cannot be used later in the evening between sets. 3. A team is required to have a minimum of 8 shooters to compete. In these cases the team that is short players should ask the opposing captain to choose two of their shooters to reshoot. The captain that is short players should make a good faith attempt to keep as many of his shooters there as possible. A player can shoot in no more than 2 sets per night. It is up to the opposing captain how lenient they choose to be on this rule. a. If a team has less than 10 qualified players available the night of playoffs the team cannot use a player a second time, short team will forfeit remaining games where missing players would have shot. (see also team rule 9) 4. Games must be played by two players from each team. Once you are assigned to shoot in a set (regardless if you get a shot) that is considered your set for the night. 5. Round Robins is defined as 3 players actively shooting in a set of three games. Round Robins can be submitted in any of the five sets, provided the opposing captain is notified prior to the beginning of a set. Allowable player configurations are: b. A, B - A, C B, C c. A, B A, B A, C d. A, B A, B B, C 6. Break Shot will be determined by a coin flip. Coin must be flipped on the table and both team captains must agree to the outcome or the flip is repeated. Home team flips the coin for the first game, winning team of the previous game will flip each game after. 7. In the event of a bad break, the balls will be re-racked and the opposing team will have the opportunity to break. a. A break where one or more objects balls hits any rail is considered to be good break and play will continue. b. Captains (not the players active in the set) may mutually decide to re-rack. If this occurs the opposing team gets the choice of break. 8. On a mixed break, the table remains open until a called shot is made. On an open table following the break, a high low combination shot is not allowed, but a high low high combination shot is legal. 9. Call your pocket, not your shot. 10. The 8 ball is neutral throughout the entire game ball must not touch any other ball except the cue ball on the game winning shot. Double Kiss with the cue ball is not a legal shot. The shot on the 8 ball can be an uncalled bank, as long as the eight goes into the called pocket, and does not touch any other balls. 12. Split hit is not allowed. It is the opposing set playing at that time, or the opposing captain s job to call the foul. The foul will result in loss of turn. 13. Jumping of the cue ball is not permitted and will result in a foul. A jump is defined when the cue ball jumps or tops any other ball. The foul will result in loss of shot. Page 4 of 5 v. June 2018

8 14. Once the cue ball is touched with a cue stick, and the cue ball visibly moves, it is considered a valid shot. It is up to the opposing shooters in that set, or the opposing captain to call this foul ball or any other balls do not have to be hit with the cue ball to be a legal shot. Not hitting the 8 ball on a game winning attempt is not a loss of game, and is allowed without penalty. 16. A ball will only get spotted if it is knocked off of the table. 17. Balls accidentally moved by any force other than the cue ball once the shot has been taken, will be replaced to their prior position at the opposing shooters discretion. a. In the event a ball is pocketed by the shooter prior to making a shot or as a result of body or cue stick intervention during the shot that players turn is automatically forfeit. 18. Should the 8-ball fall in by an accidental bump of the table, the game will be re-racked and shot over. In the event the 8 ball is pocketed by the shooter prior to making a shot or as a result of body or cue stick intervention during the shot the game is automatically forfeit. 19. Object ball must be completely over the line when shooting after a scratch. No part of the object ball can touch the line or extend over the line for the object ball to be shoot-able after a scratch. 20. After a scratch, the cue ball must be completely behind the break line, and the cue ball must travel completely past the break line prior to touching another ball for the shot to be legal. 21. It is up to the Captains (or a person designated by the captain) to handle any disagreements between the teams on a shot or rule. If the two captains cannot come to a reasonable agreement, a re-rack will be shot for that game. If there is still disagreement on a rule/shot, the captains should at that time call a committee member. 22. No more than 3 people from one team are allowed at the table at any time. Those three people are the two shooting in that set, and any advisor from their team. 23. An inattentive player has 3 minutes to begin their shot. Timer started when names are exchanged at start of set or at any time during set that a captain formally raises the issue with opposing captain. Timer to be monitored by both captains/designated team rep. Note: this rule is not meant to limit the amount of time player can use to ACTIVLY evaluate a shot but rather to limit time that a player may spend chatting with friends, in the restroom, smoking or etc. 24. Aftermarket balls are permitted. Teams may request to use an aftermarket ball before a match. Both captains must agree to use the new ball and players must be given the opportunity to practice with the new ball. c. Once you begin an evening with a cue ball that ball must be used for the entire evening. d. Aftermarket balls will be left in the bar at all times and will be made available to all players when they are requested. i. Calandi s aftermarket balls are on both tables at all times. Penalty: Any team that switches the cue ball without notifying the league, in the case of ball at home bar, of the opposing captain, in the case of ball being introduced for a night, forfeits that night. Team with no knowledge of the switch gets 10 wins or their actual wins for the night, whichever is higher. Opposing team gets the lower score of 5 or actual losses. Page 5 of 5 v. June 2018
