1 Western Fraser Valley Dart League Rules League Rules Season The registration fees: Registration: Players Fees: $ per team $ per player All team registration and players fees to be paid prior to first night of play. Any new players must pay players fees within 24 Hrs. (prior to the next league game of play), All fees to be paid to the Treasurer before commencement of play. Captains will be notified of date and time to pay the banquet fees. 1) Starting date will be the 2nd Thursday after Labour Day. All teams must register on or before September 1 st with team roster, addresses/ and phone numbers of all players. 2) All Captains will have the names and telephone numbers of all other Captains. Captains will be notified of any meeting at least one week in advance. 3) The league is to consist of One Division: Teams will play a round robin Playing all other teams once. Then the League will split into 3 Divisions, Teams will then play all teams in their Division twice. a. The goal of this executive is to encourage more teams to join our league 4) Last Date, for adding new players is 6 weeks before the last scheduled league game, unless it can be proven the team is in jeopardy. Final decision to be determined by the Executive. a. What determines a team in jeopardy: i. Unforeseeable health, accidents, deaths, which leaves the team short players. b. When a team is in jeopardy the executive will decide the best course of action how the team can continue. c. Not to eliminate the team from the eligibility of playoffs or voting for most congenial team at the playoffs. 1

2 d. Under these special circumstances a team may restructure there team count to meet the number required for playoffs with no penalties. i. I.e., eligible for playoffs and voting for most congenial team. ii. May bring in new players without the requirements of 6 games to continue. 5) A player may only be registered with one team. Any player who wishes to transfer to another team may do so without paying a second fee but must be transferred and register with the new team by the Secretary. All games played by a player will be counted toward qualifying them for playoffs. 6) Once the original roster has been registered, all members in the regular season must play a minimum of six weeks in order to play in the playoffs. a. Unless a team is in jeopardy or under extraordinary circumstances. 7) Teams to consist of not more than 12 players and not less than 6 players. If your team shows with only 5 players the teams will do the following: the team with five players will play with a GHOST. Example: Names will be listed as follows: Player # 1, Player # 2 Ghost. Player s will shoot alternately until team doubles in, after team doubles in the ghost will receive 35 points until a player brings the score down below 100 points, then the player s will shoot alternately until team doubles out. The same format must be used for doubles games. The team playing with the ghost will lose one game in the singles. A TEAM MAY ONLY PLAY WITH A GHOST ON 5 OCCASIONS DURING THE DART SESASON; THE SIXTH TIME AND EACH TIME THERE AFTER THAT A TEAM SHOWS SHORT A PLAYER THEY WILL LOSE 2 POINT PER SECTION OF PLAY FOR THE TOTAL 8 POINTS. WHEN A TEAM PLAYS WITH A GHOST IN ANY EVENT OF THE NIGHT IT MUST BE RECORDED AND COUNTED TOWARDS THE 5 OCCASIONS ALLOWED FOR THE SEASON. All games may be played for fun at the discretion of the captains. 8) Player are allowed to practice on spare boards while a game is in progress, as long as it not on an adjacent board to a game in progress. 2

3 9) All games will be double in double out. It is the duty of the home team to put their names up first. First game, home team diddles, second game, loser of the first game starts, third game away team diddles. SIX PERSON FORMAT Two Trio Games 501 Best of 3 Winning Team 2 points / Losing Team 0 or 1 point Four doubles 401 Best of 3 Winning Team 2 points / Losing Team 0 or 1 point 4 th doubles is Captains choice Six singles 301 Best of 3 Winning player 2 points / Losing player 0 or 1 point Two Trio Games 501 Best of 3 Winning Team 2 points / Losing Team 0 or 1 point NEW POINT TOTALS: MINIMUM POINTS 28 MAXIMUM POINTS 42 Assuming you have 6 or more players, it is understood that a player can only play once in each set. Exception: the 4 th Doubles is Captains choice, and when it is necessary to play with a ghost. Singles games only: Six names from each team will be placed in a blind draw, Captains to draw names. A player drawn against the ghost will receive 2 points for a win; the ghost will receive 0 points. 10) Any team unable to field a team on a regular night must notify opposing team captain and the Executive before 6:00 PM on the night of play. The match is to be played if the Captains can agree on a mutual time & date. If the match is defaulted the defaulting team to receive 0 points and the opposing team to receive the win of 16 points. No singles games will count. The Executive will have the final decision in any dispute between teams. 3

4 In the event of games being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, terrorist s attacks, natural disasters, or a pandemic, each team will receive 8 points providing it affects more than 60% of the WFVDL. No singles will count. 11) All master trophies are to be returned to the Executive on or before the playoffs, so that the next names may be engraved in time for the presentations at the banquet. CONDITIONS OF PLAY 12) It is the home team Captains responsibility to see this rule is adhered to. Games are to commence at 7:30 PM teams must field a team of a minimum of 5 players at 7:30pm NO GRACE PERIOD after which the offending team will forfeit the night. a) The board must be 5 8 high from the floor to the center of the bullseye. The dart 20 segment will be in black. b) The toe line must be well marked and be exactly 9 7 3/8 from the bull to the toe line diagonally.. c) To ensure adequately lighting on dartboards d) Home team Captain to ensure there is enough seating for the visiting team. e) All team Captains are responsible for their players advancing to the toe line of throw. No player is allowed over the toe line to throw his/her darts. Any player, who does not adhere to this rule, after being warned, will have his/her score declared null and void. The chalker only is allowed over the toe-line during play. f) The dress code will be adhered to as stipulated by the home team premise 13) During Play any questions concerning a score must be addressed before the darts leave the dartboard. Objections will not be entertained after this time. 14) The chalker can tell the player number scored and what they have left, i.e.: The chalkier can say 32 left, but can t say Double 16. The Captain or Co Captain should assist players when necessary, not the chalker. All players need to leave room behind the shooter for a captain to assist when necessary. The Captain and 4

5 chalker will settle any disputes. The chalker is to stand as close to the chalk board as space allows, the chalker is to chalk from left to right. 15) Singles stats will be compiled over the course of the season to determine the league singles winners. There will be two winners, one from A and B divisions. 16) Both Captains are to ensure that score sheets are received by the statistician within 4 days of play, after which the offending teams will be subject to a 5 point penalty, no singles games will count. Should a team exceed this time frame there will be a 5 points penalty for each continuing week and no singles games will count, until all score sheets are brought up to date. a) NEW FOR SEASON REPORTING SCORES TEAMS MUST REPORT THEIR SCORES BY 6PM ON THE SUNDAY FOLLOWING THE MATCH. THIS IS TO HELP THE LEAGUE STATISTITION KEEP THE STATS UPDATED IN A TIMELY MANNER. TEAMS WILL BE GIVEN 1 REMINDER ABOUT REPORTING THE SCORES AFTER THAT THE LEAGUE STATISTION CAN & WILL DEDUCT 5 POINTS FROM THE TEAM NOT REPORTING. ON THE 2 ND TIME SINGLES POINTS WILL NOT COUNT FOR THAT MATCH. 17) Should a tie occur at seasons end one complete match will be played at a neutral location prior to playoffs, witnessed by an Executive member. 18). The WFVDL expects its members to maintain the highest ethics of the game of darts, with particular emphasis on their personal conduct, which should always reflect good sportsmanship. The Executive has been authorized by its members to suspend any person or persons for poor conduct. a) Players are subject to suspension when; i.e., throwing darts, punching walls and causing damages to venues. b) Time penalty will be determined by the Executive. c) Players involved must see to the repairs of venue immediately d) Captains must report incidents to an Executive member so that apologies can be made on behalf of the League and the league can keep in good standings with venues. 5

6 League play-offs rules 19) The membership has voted that each team must have a minimum of six players registered and ready to play on site by 11:30 AM. Players arriving after 11:30 AM will be allowed to play, provided that the six player rule has been adhered to. Format Games will be 601 double in, double out, for A Division & open start, double out for B & C Divisions. Based on a 6 person format, each team must play every team in your division 6 games, all games count as follows. 1 st game is 3 players 2 nd game is 3 different players GAMES 1 & 2 PLAYED AT THE SAME TIME ON 2 BOARDS 3 rd game is 3 players 4 th game is 3 different players GAMES 3 & 4 PLAYED AT THE SAME TIME ON 2 BOARDS 5 th game is 3 players 6 th game is 3 different players GAMES 5 & 6 PLAYED AT THE SAME TIME ON 2 BOARDS As all games count for 1 point, you must flip a coin at the start of the match. The loser of the flip must put their names up first. For games 1 & 2 once both teams are listed on the board, the team that put their names up first diddles first to see who throws for the score first. 6

7 For games 3 & 4 the winner of the coin flip at the start of the match puts their names up first & diddles first. For games 5 & 6 teams will flip a coin again, with the loser of the flip must put their names up first & diddles first. After each match, report your score to the person who has volunteered to be your Division Leader. After each round, the Division Leader will update the Master Board. Players please check your standing by looking at the Master Board as it is there for your convenience. The division sheet is needed by the Division Leader to the next round. Please report promptly to the board where your next match is to be played. A Reminder! Playoffs are the Last opportunity to return Master Trophies. All Banquet funds must be collected and submitted to the Treasurer one week before the playoffs. Captains are to supply a list of members and guests with the appropriate funds in order to receive banquet tickets.
