1 NOTICE OF RACE Dutch & German Championship In the INTERNATIONAL 5.5 METRE CLASS Organised by STICHTING WESTEINDER ZEILWEDSTRIJDEN (WZW) in conjunction with the Royal Dutch Watersport Association (RNWA) from July 21 till July 23, 2016 at the Westeinderplas near Aalsmeer, the Netherlands 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 The Rules for Championships Sailing, Windsurfing and Kiteboarding will apply. 1.3 The Sailing Instructions may change some rules. 1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 1.5 Every competitor who has his domicile in the Netherlands shall have the appropriate license. 2 ADVERTISING 2.1 Advertising in accordance with ISAF Advertising Code Regulation 20 and restricted as amended in the class rules. 2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the class: International 5.5 metre class Eligible boats may register online via manage2sail.com or request for an entry form by sending an to kim@theagouverneur.com. 3.2 The closing date for entries and payment will be July 14, Entry fee payment instructions can be found on event page on manage2sail.com (see link above). 3.3 After the closing date permission from WZW is required to participate and an extra fee of EUR 100 will apply on top of the entry fee. 4 FEES 4.1 Required fees are: Class Fee International 5.5 metre EUR Other fees to be paid are: 5 SPARE 6 SCHEDULE Extra for late entry EUR Registration: Day and date: July 21 from 09:00 till 13:00 hours. 2 6.2 Measurement and inspection: Day and date: July 21 van 09:00 tot 13: Dates of racing: Date July 21 till July 23 Class International 5.5 metre 6.4 Number of races: Class International 5.5 metre 8 to 9 Number of races 6.5 The scheduled time of the first warning signal is: Date Class Race 1 Number of races per day July 21 International :00 2 to 3 July 22 International :00 3 to 4 July 23 International :00 3 to On the last day of racing there will be no signal after 15:00 hours local time. 7 MEASUREMENTS 7.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate according to 5.5 metre class rules. 7.2 Yachts shall be available for measurements on the days listed above. 7.3 Yachts to be measured will be selected by the Event Measurer. 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 The sailing instructions will be available one month prior to the event at and at site of the class association(s). 9 VENUE 9.1 Aalsmeer Yacht Club, Uiterweg 155, 1431 AD Aalsmeer. Information: secretaris@westeinderzeilwedstrijden.nl. 9.2 Attachment A shows the location of the regatta harbour and the location of the racing area. 10 THE COURSES 10.1 The diagrams in Attachment B show the courses, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left. 11 PENALTY SYSTEM 11.1 For the International 5.5 metre class rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty. 12 SCORING races are required to be completed to constitute a series Series scores: Number of races Score 1 till and including 4 All races 5 or more All races excluding the worst score NOR page 2 of 6

3 13 SPARE 14 BERTHING 14.1 Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are at the hard standing and/or harbour. 15 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS 15.1 All yachts shall be afloat before 12:00 on the first scheduled race day and shall not be hauled out during the series except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 16 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS 16.1 Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta. 17 RADIO COMMUNICATION 17.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones The Race Committee will make broadcasts to the fleet via VHF. The channel will be indicated in the Sailing Instructions. Failure to make these broadcasts, to time or failure to receive these broadcasts shall not constitute grounds for redress. This changes RRS 62.1(a) VHF channel 71 will be used in case of an emergency. 18 PRIZES 18.1 Helmsman and crew of the winning boat acquire the title "Dutch Champion" and the medal of the RNWA The responsible person of the winning boat of the championship acquires the Blue Pennant of the RNWA For the second and third place there will be silver and bronze medals Additional prizes will be available provided by the German and Dutch Class associations. Ranking prizes for Modern, Evolution and Classic boats will be provided. Boat categories: 5.5m Classic boats (designs ) 5.5m Evolution boats (designs ) 5.5m Modern boats (designs as from 1994). 19 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 19.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 20 INSURANCE 20.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of EUR 1,500,000 per incident or the equivalent. Harbourmaster Aalsmeer Yacht Club can be reached on or via havenmeester@wvaalsmeer.nl. Cars will be parked outside the club premises, please heed the instructions of the beach masters. Parking at the Uiterweg is not allowed and tickets are given. Space for campers and tents is limited. Prior notice is required. Use of designated areas for campers and tents is free of charge. Aalsmeer Yacht Club is mostly run by volunteers and opening hours of the club house, bar and kitchen are therefore limited. -o0o- NOR page 4 of 6
