1 Welcome It is with great pleasure that I welcome competitors, families, supporters, past sailors and sponsors to Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club for the 2 nd round of the NSW State Titles for 2016/17. The F11 has a rich history of sailing in this district and we look forward to an exciting and challenging series on the waters of North Harbour and the Port Jackson Sound. We are sure the Race Committee will provide exacting courses that will ensure fair and quality racing for the competitors. The, the Sailing Committee and a large team of volunteers have been working hard to ensure that this will be a successful and enjoyable event, both on and off the water. As a last reminder, please pay attention to the Manly ferries, which from time to time will pass through our course. They have right of way, so avoid them please. The Ferry Masters are generally very courteous on the water, but I recommend a sharp lookout and planning your course appropriately. We wish good luck, good sportsmanship and good sailing to all competitors. 2 Event Schedule Date Event Time (EDST) Registration 0800 to 1000 hrs Saturday 18 February 2017 Sunday 19 February 2017 Compulsory Competitor Briefing First Warning Signal Warning Signals for subsequent races will be hoisted ASAP after the completion of the previous race First Warning Signal Championship Presentation 1000 hrs 1115 hrs 1025 hrs ASAP after racing Boat Unloading and Rigging Area for All Visiting Boats Boats can be unloaded in East Esplanade Reserve immediately opposite Ashburner Street. We ask that once you have unloaded your boat that you clear the unloading area as space is limited. There will be Area Marshalls assisting with unloading and directions. Please follow their directions as we will have approx. 50 boats unloading and rigging in this area. Our agreement with Council does not allow the parking of trailers or cars in this area so once your boats have been unloaded we ask that you park your car and trailer (see separate section on parking). Boats can be left in the East Esplanade Reserve area overnight on Saturday. We will have a security guard stationed overnight in this area but suggest that no valuables are left with or in the boats. Could all paths be kept clear as this is a very busy area in Manly and we need to ensure that the public can still move around. If you are wanting to leave your boat on Friday night you may do so at the Skiff Club next to the boat shed. Please be aware that there will be no security on Friday night and the boats will need to be moved to East Esplanade Reserve on Saturday morning. 8/02/2017 Page 2

Car Parking Unfortunately, car parking is limited in Manly and council rangers regularly patrol and issue parking fines. Most streets around the club are restricted to a maximum of 2 hours.

Manly Council car park is in Whistler Street (adjacent to Manly Library). It also provides 2 hours free parking while all day parking is approx. $33.

There are several public car parks in Manly. The Coles car park can be accessed from Wentworth Street and provides 2-hour free parking. All day parking costs approx. $33. Manly Council car park is in Whistler Street (adjacent to Manly Library). It also provides 2 hours free parking while all day parking is approx. $33. The best location for free all day parking is around the areas of Manly West School, Boy Charlton Swim Centre and Kierle Park areas. These locations are approx. 30 mins walk back to East Esplanade reserve. We have also arranged for a shuttle bus from 8am to 10am and after racing on both Saturday and Sunday to transport sailors and families to these areas. 5 Racing Areas & Manly Ferries When sailing to & from race areas 1 or 2 competitors will need to cross the Manly Ferry lane. Please follow instructions from the Race Safety officials. Please note that it is extremely likely that we will be sailing in Race Area 2 or The Sound. The best location to view the racing will be at Tania Park which takes approx. 15 minutes to drive to. 6 Facilities All registration, briefings, competitor presentations and event BBQ s over the weekend will be held on the grass area between Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club and Manly Yacht Club and there will be a tent or marque erected. Please Note: this includes competitor Sign On and Sign Off. This is a 2-minute walk from East Esplanade Reserve. During the weekend, Manly 16ft Skiff Club will be open for competitors, families and supporters from 8am. On Saturday and Sunday morning the club will be serving bacon and egg rolls and coffee. The Club Bistro will also be open over the weekend and in addition to the standard lunch and dinner menu there will be a selection of filled rolls to purchase. Male and female toilets, changing facilities and showers are available at Manly 16ft Skiff Club. Due to the high number of competitors and supporters it is likely to be very busy in the Club during this period. Care should be taken when using the showers and change rooms to avoid any slips or falls, etc. There are also male and female toilets located in East Esplanade Reserve. Power Boats The closest boat ramps to the Club are located at Little Manly Beach (very limited parking), Roseville and Tunks Park (Cammeray). Due to the limited space to tie up power boats, including RIBs, at the Club only official support boats can be accommodated. Please follow the instructions of the designated Deck Captain.
