Natatorium, on the campus of IUPUI, 901West New York Street, Indianapolis, IN Facility: Competition Pool: Two eight-lane 25 yard competition pools. Diving Well: Four one-meter springboards, two three meter springboards and one set of towers. Seating gallery: Both the east and west side seating galleries will be open. Concessions: will be available on both days. Parking: Spectators: will park in the garage that is adjacent to the IU Natatorium. Spectators will pay with a credit card only upon entering the garage. IUPUI Parking Services dictates parking prices for this event. Buses: Long busses will need to park at the North Street Circle and Blake Street. Short busses can park in the surface lot next to the parking garage. Both lots are marked on the campus map that is included in this entry letter. **One Bus parking pass for Friday & Saturday will be available upon team check-in. Additional passes may be purchased for $6/short bus and $12/long bus per day. In entry please indicate which bus pass you will need. Format: The format of the meet is a prelim/final format. This tournament will be conducted according to the rules of the National Federation and IHSAA. Prelims will be held Friday night with boys swimming in the north pool and girls swimming in the south pool. All Saturday afternoon final events will be held in the south pool. Saturday afternoon the north pool will be used for warm up and cool down. Diving prelims will be held on Friday night for both the boys and girls. Semis and Finals will be held on Saturday afternoon. Swimming & Diving Entries: Deadline: NOON, Monday, December 12 th Entries Only: We will use entries created from Hy-Tek Team Manager, Team Unify or TM Lite to enter contestants into the swim/diving meet. Instructions for TM Lite are on page three of the entry letter. Electronic Diving Score sheet: Diving entries will only be accepted via the attached Electronic Diving Score sheet. Please the completed form to Ed Merkling at merkling@aol.com by no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, December 12 th Incomplete diving sheets will not be accepted. All schools using a Hy-Tek or Team Unify should Commlink file(cl2) entries to merkling@aol.com Some school internet servers will not allow zipped files to be sent. If this is your situation, please send the file from another server. Attention Dive Coaches: Please review pages five and six. Psych sheets will be posted on the Roncalli web site Tuesday, December 13 th after 12:00 pm. Swimming & Diving Seeding: Will be completed according to the swimmers times listed on the official entry list. Diving order will be done by blind draw. Report any swimming or diving entry errors or changes to Ed Merkling before 8:00 am, Wednesday, December 14 th. Meet Check-In: All teams are required to check in on deck level before entering the pool deck. Only meet participants listed on your teams entry form, one student manager, one trainer and three coaches will be permitted on the deck area. Due to limited deck space, ALL JV SWIMMERS MUST REMAIN IN THE SPECTATOR AREA! If a participant leaves the deck area, he/she must obtain a pass-out in order to return. Saturday Morning: The Natatorium will be hosting a swimming and diving event on Saturday morning. The meet will conclude around 11:00 am. Marion County teams will NOT have access to the deck until the deck has been cleared from the morning meet. The seating galleries will be cleared before selling tickets for Saturday finals. 2

3 Marion County Swimming and Diving Championships December 16 & 17, 2016 IU Natatorium IUPUI INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE TEAM MANAGER LITE COMPUTER PROGRAM FROM HY TEK SOFTWARE ELECTRONIC SWIM ENTRIES ARE DUE BY NOON, Monday, December 12 th We will use the Hy-Tek Team Manager Lite program for entering contestants into the swim/diving meet. The following are directions for entering swimmers into the meet. If you have any questions contact Ed Merkling You may download Team Manager Lite from: This is a free download. 1. After you have installed the Team Manager Lite program go to File, then ENTER a file name (School name) Select Male/Female gender designations, Select Last Name, Check Relay Lead off Splits, In Meet Age-up, click not applicable, Default Team registration choose Other, Default Team Type choose HS. 2. SETUP YOUR TEAM - Select TEAM, Add, Use Team Code, Team Name and Short Name. Fill in any additional information you want to add. Team Codes: Beech Grove, BGHS; Ben Davis, BDHS; Brebeuf Jesuit, BJHS; Decatur Central, DCHS; Franklin Central, FCHS; Lawrence Central, LCHS; Lawrence North, LNHS; North Central, NCHS; Park Tudor, PTHS; Perry Meridian, PMHS; Pike, PHS; Roncalli, RHS; Southport, SOHS; Speedway, SHS, Warren Central, WCHS. 3. DOWNLOAD MEET EVENTS You can download the meet events from the RHS website: 4. IMPORT MEET EVENTS - Select FILE, IMPORT and choose MEET EVENTS. You want to import the file from the MCC Events. Highlight the Marion County Swim Meet. HYV and tell it OK. It will then prompt you and tell you it has opened X amount of events. 5. ADDING ATHLETES - Select ATHLETES on the menu bar and choose your team in the highlighted box. Go to ADD and enter your athletes, last name, first name, birth date, sex and choose team in the middle of the screen and click OK- continue to add your team members. 6. ENTER ATHLETES INTO EVENTS - Select MEETS and the 2012 Marion County Swimming & Diving Championship should be highlighted, select ENTRIES and decide if you want to enter by EVENT (for relays) or NAME (for individual). Choose which swimmers for the event from the list of swimmers available to swim the event. Check Enter by swimmer s name. Double click on Custom Time to enter swimmer s best time (no need to add decimal point). 7. PRINT ENTRY REPORT - check your meet entry by clicking on PRINT and choose ENTRY REPORT. 8. Make any changes necessary spelling, times, alternates. Go to the MAIN menu and click on REPORTS, PERFORMANCE, And MEET ENTRIES. This will give an additional chance to check your entry. This MEET ENTRY copy can then be ed. GO to the MAIN MENU, FILE then EXPORT then MEET ENTRIES. Specify any directory on your hard drive as the EXPORT DRIVE/DIRECTORY. Now select the meet for which you want to export entries. REMEMBER RELAYS. After EXPORTING your file select REPORTS and EXPORT/IMPORT FILE REPORT and follow menu prompts to review exactly what information you exported to the file. This report should match the standard MEET ENTRY REPORT that you built. 9. your entry to merkling@aol.com your standard software and attach the ZIP FILE. 3

4 Meet Reminders 1. Each school is responsible for its own valuables. We suggest these be placed in the custody of a parent or other responsible person. There are locker rooms available, but not necessarily lockers for individual use. You may bring locks and use lockers if available. 2. Each coach is responsible for the conduct of his/her team. 3. Only swimmers, coaches and managers are permitted on the deck and in the locker rooms. 4. It is the responsibility of the coach to keep their swimmers informed as to upcoming events. 5. NO glass containers are allowed on the pool deck. No radios or tape decks will be allowed unless earphones are attached and in use. 6. NO air or helium filled balloons are allowed in the facility. 7. NO banners or posters will be allowed. NO tape of any sort is to be applied to any painted surface. 8. Please have finalists ready to receive awards when announced on Saturday. 9. Two coaches will be selected by the participating coaches at the Friday evening scratch meeting to serve on the meet committee. 10. IHSAA videotaping policy will be observed. 11. A Hospitality Room with snacks and drinks will be available for coaches and event workers only. 12. A concession stand will be available on the main concourse. 13. The meet sponsor, St. Vincent Sports Medicine, will have athletic trainers on site for any medical needs of participants. 5 Marion County Championship Diving Competition 1. Diving entries will only be accepted via the attached IHSAA Electronic Diving Score Sheet. Please the completed form to Ed Merkling (meet director) at no later than Noon on Monday, Dec 12 th (four days prior to the meet). 2. Incomplete diving sheets will not be accepted. 3. Championship 11 dive format will be used. 4. The dive sheet must have all 11 dives listed, in order to be complete (i.e. Dive number, position, dive order) along with divers name and school affiliation. 5. All dive sheets must be signed by both the diver and the coach asserting that the diver is capable of the dives listed and confirms the accuracy of the dive sheet. Dive sheets may be signed at the competition at IUPUI natatorium scoring table by the dive well, starting at 4:00 pm Friday. 6. All Signed dive sheets must be turned into the Dive Referee for review by 5:00 pm Friday. Please turn them in as early as 4:00 pm Friday for review. 7. No changes to dive sheets allowed after 5:00 pm Friday. 8. Corrections of errors noted by the Dive Referee shall be permitted until the start of the diving competition. 9. By rule, it is the diver s responsibility for the completed dive sheet & its accuracy. 10. Coach should review dive sheets with Dive Referee regarding any corrections or changes. 11. Incorrect dive sheets if caught after the competition begins will result in disqualification of the diver. 12. It is a courtesy by the Dive Referee to review the dive sheets for accuracy, and Referee will attempt to do so. If Referee does not catch an error prior to the meet competition, it does not alleviate the diver from disqualification if error is caught during the competition. 13. Watch for errors printed out on the electronic dive sheet and correct or bring to the attention of the Dive Referee as soon as 4:00 pm Friday. The rule violation may be printed on the page to help the diver, coach and Referee catch the errors rounds of dives will be Friday evening with all entered divers participating. 15. Maximum of 20 boys and 20 girls allowed to dive in rounds 6-8 beginning at 1:30 pm Saturday at the start of the meet. Alternates will be allowed up to 30 minutes prior to the session. 16. Maximum of 16 boys and 16 girls allowed to dive in rounds 9-11 starting after the 50 freestyle events on Saturday. Alternates will be allowed up to 30 minutes prior to the session. 17. Diving order will be by blind draw and will be posted on the wall behind the scoring table. 18. Number of divers per team shall be limited to no more than what is allowed in individual swimming events per team Dive Judges will be used from coaches selected before or during the Diving meeting. Please be ready to judge the whole event Friday & Saturday. 20. All coaches and divers are required to attend Dive meeting held at 5:45 pm Friday top scores & 2 bottom scores will be eliminated and 3 middle scores will be added then multiplied by the Degree of Difficulty giving the score for each dive. 5

6 22. Only a change of position will be allowed by the diver if diver informs the Dive Referee prior to beginning his/her dive, once the final/signed dive sheet is turned in at 5:00 pm Friday. Lower DD will be used of new or listed position for scoring. 23. Dive Referee will sign the dive sheets only at the completion of all the dives certifying that the scores are correct and the competition is finished. Choice of Dives 24. The Dives to be performed during rounds 1-5 must have 2 voluntary and 3 optional dives with the voluntary dives circled and may be performed in any order. 25. The Dives to be performed during rounds 6-8 must have 2 voluntary and 1 optional dive with the voluntary dives circled and may be performed in any order. 26. The Dives to be performed during rounds 9-11 must have 1 voluntary and 2 optional dives with the voluntary dive circled and may be performed in any order. 27. All dives of the same number, whether tuck, pike, straight or free position are considered the same dive. No two dives may be repeated during the 11 dives. 28. The five voluntary dives shall come from each of the five groups, with their assigned dd having a sum total of 9.0 or less. 29. The six optional dives shall include at least one chosen from each of the five groups. No more than one optional dive from the same group is permitted through semifinals. 30. Cannot repeat a dive group in the Optional dives in the first 8 rounds. 31. All five groups must be represented through the semifinals (the first eight rounds). 32. There will be a 3 rd dive from one group performed as an optional in the total of 11 dives, what some may call a Triple group. 6
