Kuredu offers six different restaurants, seven bars, three large swimming pools with sundeck, library, air conditioned gym and aerobics. It also offers opportunity to do various sport activities such as tennis, badminton, football, golf, beach volleyball and water sports like skiing, sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding and stand-up paddling. There are a lot of activities offered as you can see, which can also be great if you bring your partner or family with you to stay on Kuredu during your IDC. Kuredu Prodivers is one of the best known 5 Star IDC centres in the Maldives. A staff team of over twenty including instructors and dive masters are working here and will do their utmost to give you your best diving experience ever. Prodivers offer over 60 different dive sites that are located all over the atoll and will offer you superb diving conditions. The dive centre buildings were completely renewed at the beginning of 2011 and now offer more convenience and better service than ever. The Prodivers Shop is stocked with diving equipment and accessories as well as clothing from IQ, Fourth Element and their own Prodivers collection. The dive centre is equipped with five electrical compressors and a workshop with necessary spare parts and tools. Prodivers have got a large equipment room with three water basins and hangers for equipment and wet suits. They have more than 300 air and Nitrox tanks and over one hundred regulators and BCDs to rent to our guests. Nitrox diving is offered with no additional cost for all Nitrox certified divers! Prodivers do regular dive trips with scooters and offer CCR training on the Evolution Rebreathe all year. Being located far from civilization and the fact that tourism is new in the area compared to the rest of the Maldives makes this a diver s paradise and a great place to concentrate and complete you instructor course. 2 Course Director: Miha Frlec PADI CD With over 15 years teaching experience Miha is an experienced IT teaching Rec, Tec and Sidemount and he is the CD that will be conducting the Instructor Development Course. Miha offers Instructor Courses to IDC Staff Instructor Level, all PADI Specialties and instructor training for these Specialties, distinctive specialties such as Underwater Communication and Recompression Chamber as well as all PADI technical diving courses and Razor sidemount. He has certified more than a thousand instructor level candidates and has been a member of the PADI Elite Instructor programme since it was introduced. PADI has awarded him Frequent Trainer Silver already in the first year as a CD and he has achieved Platinum status three times. Educated in natural sciences and physics and with experience from software development and sales Miha has a broad diving experience from altitude lakes in the Alps to tropical lagoons, from technical deep diving in the Mediterranean and Egypt to demanding cave dives in Europe. You will be trained by a Course Director who is also an active instructor of student level courses, which we believe is very important for instructor development. Miha has been coming to Maldives since 1999 and has been conducting IDCs here since He has been conducting instructor development programs on Kuredu with Prodivers twice each year. He tries to make sure that the courses are interesting and exciting for every candidate. His broad knowledge, a good sense of humour and easy going personality (some might argue) will put you at ease in no time making your PADI IDC with Prodivers a memorable experience. Page 2

3 Accommodation on Kuredu You can choose what kind of accommodation you would like to have during your stay on Kuredu. The most affordable are the Garden Bungalows which are 54 m2 in size and offer a furnished veranda, sunbeds, beach towels, Queen-size bed, air conditioning, telephone, Nespresso machine with tea/coffee facilities, minibar, CD player, safety deposit box and hair dryer. All accommodation is air conditioned and is offered on a full board basis. If you wish you can also go for a Beach Villa with a sun covered terrace. These are located along the North West side of the island and have their own Restaurant and Bar nearby. Or you could choose the modern Sangu Water Villas. You can find more detailed information on accommodation options on Kuredu on the website. A sea plane will take you from Male to Kuredu and back with a special price for our IDC candidates. The breath taking flight takes approximately 40 min. All bookings for accommodation and sea plane transfer from on to Male can be made directly via Prodivers. They can also make a reservation for garden bungalows during the IDC. Please check with us for the actual prices for your accommodation as they change quite frequently. Kuredu Island Resort offers a special deal for the IDC candidates. Prices include full board accommodation and of course depend on the bungalow occupancy (single or shared) and category. If you want you could also bring along friends or family to stay with you on Kuredu during your course. Page 3

Or you can jump in the lagoon with a buddy and practice skills demonstrations that you learned during your Divemaster Course. Remember that your demo should be slow, exaggerating and easy looking. We included five free house reef dives in our IDC course package to give you the possibility to get used to the conditions and practice a bit before the course starts. Or join our IDC preparation program, starting one day before the IDC. Here we are going through rescue skills, dive master theory and the skill demonstrations. This is a good fresh up and creates a more relaxed atmosphere. And you will get to know the staff and other participants already as well. 5 Instructor Development Course The goal of our IDC program is simple. We will ensure that you, the future PADI professional diving instructor, will be well prepared to work in the recreational diving industry. Almost anyone can train you to pass the Instructor Examination, but we want to train you to know how to efficiently teach diving and enjoy it. The IDC includes many useful workshops that will make candidates better prepared for the real world application after successfully passing the IE. During the IDC we will provide you all the knowledge you need to feel safe and comfortable while conducting presentations in the classroom, confined water or open water. Practical workshops, hints and suggestions as well as the correct use of the PADI Instructor Manual will make you more familiar with the PADI system, standards and procedures for different PADI courses. It is also okay to make mistakes, no problem. We are there to encourage you and to provide help wherever needed. Our frequent counselling during the course will make it easy for you to improve your skills and knowledge, your approach to teaching and to feel more self-confident as a future instructor. PADI s Instructor Development Course is split into two parts, the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor. Instructors who are already certified on instructor leadership level with another recreational dive training organization just need to join our OWSI program. The goal of the OWSI program is to let participants get to know PADI as a diving organization, PADI s philosophy, student level courses and the teaching materials better. The OWSI program is focused on preparing candidates to teach PADI courses and give them essential background information to participate successfully in the instructor examination. Page 5

6 Prerequisites The following are the prerequisites for participation in the IDC. If you are not sure regarding one of the conditions listed below, please ask us and we will try to clarify and find a solution. 1. Be at least 18 years old, 2. Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization, 3. Submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months (you can also renew you CPR and first aid training during the IDC), 4. Certified diver for at least 6 months. 60 logged open water dives to start the programme, 100 to be able to participate in the IE. Have documentation of deep, night and navigation diving. 5. Be fit for diving and submit a medical statement not older than one year including the date of the IE. A licensed physician must sign and stamp the form and state that you are fit for diving. 6. Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level issued by another recreational diver training organization, 7. If you are not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI DM rescue skill assessment. Paperwork 1. Medical statement that you are fit for diving, no older than one year incl. the date of the IE. 2. Logbook with at least 60 open water dives logged (100 for the IE). 3. All PADI certificates or equivalent in original. 4. At least two photos, passport size. 5. Prove of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months. 6.
