If the valve stem is extended, the ontrol passage of the valve is losed. The valves must be used only as a 'ontrol valve'. The diretion of flow marked on the valve must be observed. Usage as a diverting valve is not permissible with pneumati drives, sine it would ause pressure surges. The fluidi parameters omply with EN Used as a ontrol valve B B B01134a Desription The key features of these ontrol valves are their high reliability and preision, and they make a major ontribution towards environment-friendly ontrol. They meet demanding requirements inluding emergeny positioning funtions, oping with differential pressures, ontrolling the medium temperature and providing a shut-off funtion; all this is ahieved with a low noise level. n automati and fixed onnetion is made between the valve stem and the drive shaft. The plug (whih is made of brass) ontrols an equal-perentage flow in the ontrol passage. To ompensate for the omplementary harateristi of the onsumer and to guarantee an idential quantity of medium regardless of the valve position, the mixing passage ats with a linear harateristi. The tightness of this valve is guaranteed by the seat whih is mahined in the body. The stuffing box is maintenane-free; it onsists of a brass body, 2 O-rings and a grease reserve. This is free of silione grease and no silione oil must be used for the stem. The grease reserve prevents partiles that might be present in the medium from reahing the upper O-ring.

4 76.111/4 BUD Engineering and fitting notes The drive is plaed diretly on top of the valve and is fixed with srews. The onnetion between the drive and the valve stem is made automatially. The losing point must be set as desribed in the installation instrutions (MV VP 242 or MV VP 243/244). Installation position The final ontrol element an be installed in any position, exept faing downwards. Condensate and water drips et. must be prevented from penetrating into the drive. With a horizontal installed position and in relation to the valve stem, the permitted maximum drive (or other) weight is 25 kg unless a support is provided by the ustomer or others. When fitting the drive onto the valve, you must make sure that the plug is not rotated on the seat (this would damage the sealing surfae). If the valve is insulated, the insulation must only extend as far as the onneting lip of the drive. ppliations with steam The valves must not be used for appliations involving steam. ppliations with water To ensure that impurities in the water (suh as welding beads or partiles of rust, et.) are retained and the stem seal is not damaged, it is advisable to install olletive filters, e.g. for eah storey or pipe run. Water quality requirements onform to VDI If an additional medium is used, the ompatibility of the materials must be larified with the manufaturer of the medium. The Material Table shown below an be used for this purpose. If glyol is used, we reommend that a onentration of between 20% and 55% should be seleted. The valves are not suitable for drinking water or in zones where there is a risk of explosions. Other notes onerning hydraulis and noises in systems The valves an be used in a low-noise environment. To avoid noises, the pressure differenes pmax listed below should not be exeeded. The lose/off pressure values whih are also listed represent the maximum pressures at whih the drive an still use its own fore to move the valve. It should be pointed out here that if these pressures are used and the pressure differene pmax is exeeded, the valve may sustain damage due to avitation and erosion. In ase of a spring return funtion, the stated ps values also represent the permitted differential pressure up to whih the drive guarantees losure of the valve in ase of an inident. s this is a safety funtion with 'fast' passage through the stroke (by means of the spring), this value may exeed pmax.

The valve as a traversed element is defined by this parameter speifially in its hydrauli behaviour. By monitoring avitation, erosion and the noise thus produed, improvements an be ahieved in both life expetany and durability. p max : Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve at whih the drive an firmly open and lose the valve. Stati pressure and fluidi influenes are taken into aount. This value helps to maintain smooth stroke ation and valve sealing. In doing so, the valve's p v value is not exeeded. p s : Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve in the event of a malfuntion (e.g. power failure) at whih the drive an firmly lose the valve and, if neessary, hold the full operating pressure against atmospheri pressure. Sine this is a safety funtion with fast' stroke, p s an be larger than p max or, respetively, p v. The resultant fluidi disturbanes are soon overome and play a minor role here. On the three-way valves, the values apply only for the ontrol passage. p stat : Line pressure aross the valve. This orresponds largely to the dead pressure when the pump is swithed off, e.g. due to the level of liquid in the plant, an inrease in pressure via the pressure store, steam pressure et. On valves that lose with the pressure, the stati pressure plus the pump pressure should be used.
