3 TRAINING CENTRE INTRODUCTION The Stork Training Centre, located at the company s campus in Pitmedden Road, Dyce, specialises in delivering training to the onshore/offshore energies industries and is strategically positioned in close proximity to rail links, heliports and Aberdeen International Airport. 5 Computer Based Training Courses Company Inductions STORK Training Centre provides its facilities as a conduit through which numerous company inductions can be completed. Many of these are computer based applications and the facility has a suite of PC s on which to deliver these to individuals in a relaxed and controlled environment. In addition to STORK s own interactive Induction and offshore induction pack, the facility provides the means through which candidates can undertake: Shell Golden & Life Saving Rules Apache Induction includes H²S & Donut Conoco Phillips Permit to Work OPITO MIST Refresher/Reassessment (Minimum Industry Safety Training) - in association with Atlas Interactive Varies according to respective company requirements but generally involves imparting respective company safety attitudes, expectations and safe working methods of approach. 7 IRATA Rope Access Level 1 Level 1 5 day course incorporating independent assessment on final day by registered IRATA Assessor. A Level 1 rope access technician shall be capable of performing a limited range of rope access tasks required by their employers under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 rope access technician. Course Content Theoretical knowledge Equipment & Rigging Manoeuvres Climbing Rescue/Hauling Assessment practical & written Minimum age - 18 years Candidates shall be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely. They shall ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness, are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and coordination and are able to withstand the stresses of the working environment, such as heat cold and other inclement weather Ideally, all candidates will be in possession of an appropriate full industrial medical certificate in the absence of this, candidates will be asked to sign the IRATA Statement of medical condition RATA Approved Level 1 IRATA Rope Access Level 2 Level 2 5 day course incorporating independent assessment on final day by registered IRATA Assessor. A Level 2 rope access technician shall be capable of rigging working ropes, undertaking rescues and performing rope access tasks under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 rope access technician. They should have some knowledge of legislation, safety requirements and quality assurance procedures relating to rope access. Theoretical knowledge Equipment & Rigging Manoeuvres Climbing Rescue/Hauling Assessment practical & written Note: Additional elements of training are addressed that reflect the level of qualification undertaken in accordance with published IRATA General Requirements Candidates will be a qualified IRATA Level 1 rope access technician with a minimum of 12 months and 1000 hours of work experience (Verified by IRATA Logbook) Candidates shall be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely. They shall ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness, are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and coordination and are able to withstand the stresses of the working environment, such as heat cold and other inclement weather Ideally, all candidates will be in possession of an appropriate full industrial medical certificate in the absence of this, candidates will be asked to sign the IRATA Statement of medical condition IRATA Approved Level 2 6
8 IRATA Rope Access Level 3 Level 3 5 day course incorporating independent assessment on final day by registered IRATA Assessor. A Level 3 rope access technician shall: be capable of site supervision for rope access work projects be conversant with relevant work techniques & legislation be able to demonstrate all the skills & knowledge required of levels 1 & 2 have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques hold an appropriate current first aid certificate to show that suitable emergency first aid has been undertaken have knowledge of the IRATA certification scheme have knowledge of the IRATA General Requirements be familiar with the contents of the IRATA Guidelines absence of this, candidates will be asked to sign the IRATA Statement of medical condition Theoretical knowledge Equipment & Rigging Manoeuvres Climbing Rescue/Hauling Assessment practical & written Note: Additional elements of training are addressed beyond all theoretical & practical skills at level 1 & 2 to achieve a greater depth of understanding that reflects the level of qualification undertaken in accordance with published IRATA General Requirements Prior to training the Application for level 3 assessment form shall be completed by the candidate and training company. This is a written recommendation from the IRATA member training company as to the candidate s suitability for assessment at level 3. Candidates shall have a minimum of one year and 1000 hours of work experience as a level 2 rope access technician (Verified by IRATA Logbook) Candidates will hold an appropriate current first aid certificate Candidates shall be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely. 9 IRATA Rope Access Renewal & Revalidation IRATA certificates shall be renewed within 3 years of the date of assessment. Revalidation consists of a full assessment at the level required following the appropriate training. If re-training and successful assessment are completed in the six month period prior to the expiry of a current certificate, a new certificate will be issued with an expiry date 3 years from the date of expiry on the previous certificate. Candidates with expired certificates should undertake the 5 day course incorporating assessment. Employers should maintain their employee s levels of ability in rope access. Refresher training is appropriate for rope access technicians who are not regularly engaged in rope access work, with specific requirements for those who have not been engaged in rope access for 6 months or more. Refresher training may be conducted as either a refresher course or a full course at the appropriate level. Level 1, 2 & 3 Refresher/Revalidation Available as a 3 or 5 day course (gauged on candidates experience and currency of skill application) incorporating independent assessment on final day by registered IRATA Assessor. Work at Height Module 1 Work at Height Module 1 - Awareness ½ day course providing a basic knowledge of Work at Height legislation and how it relates to the workplace together with a basic knowledge of the work and rescue equipment used or available if required. 10 Work at Height Module 2 Work at Height Module 2 - User 1 day course providing theoretical and practical instruction in respect of the safe selection of equipment and procedures associated with working at height, whilst ensuring that individuals understand the importance of pre-use checks and the hierarchy of risk. (Work at Height Regulations amended) On completion of the course candidates will be familiar with the following: Relevant Work at Height legislation Selection of equipment and work methods Hierarchy of Risk Risk Assessment Rescue plan Pre-use checks on equipment and harnesses Correct application of equipment Self-rescue with retrievable inertia reel Safe climbing techniques Theoretical knowledge Climbing manoeuvres Pre-use inspections Assessment practical & written Minimum age - 18 years Candidates must have an aptitude for heights. Stork of Completion Work at Height Module 3 Work at Height - Module 3 Rescue 1 day course providing theoretical and practical instruction in respect of planning and preparing for rescue of persons working at height and the suitability, installation and efficient use of a range of both self-rescue and 3rd Party rescue systems. 11 Work at Height Module 4 Work at Height - Module 4 Management & Control 1 day course providing an in-depth knowledge of the supervisory responsibilities associated with Work at Height inclusive of the hierarchy of risk and selection of work methods appropriate in accordance with the circumstances presented. Understanding the processes associated with the control, periodic inspection and maintenance of Work at Height equipment. 13 Mechanical MJI Awareness Introduction to MJI and the Route to Competency A ½ day course aimed at individuals that require knowledge of the MJI training modules and the Route to Competency. Ideally for Project Coordinators, Training Administrators, Project Administrators, Human Resources and anyone that is involved with MJI projects or personnel that are not hands on. An introductory appetiser on how MJI was born, the various training modules and the 4 Stage Competency Model that is required within the industry. What is Mechanical Joint Integrity? Why was MJI introduced? The MJI Training Modules & Associated Technical Tests The 4 Stage Competency Model A brief on the 3 main components of a mechanical joint What happens to bolts when they are tightened (Hooke s Law) Various methods of tightening the bolts (hand, hydraulic & bolt tension) Practical hands on of tightening bolted connections using the various methods. Candidates shall be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely. : Stork of Completion Mechanical MJI 10 Hand Torque Bolted Connections An industry recognised 1 day course, audited by the ECITB providing training in the use of hand torque equipment on bolted pipework connections. The primary objective is for safe use with a build-up of related basic skills and knowledge for operation and maintenance in the field. The course covers both the theory and the operation of torque tightening methods. Stork, as an ECITB accredited training provider offers a method of training and validating skills in the specialist critical bolting area. Training courses, Work Based Task Assignments (WBTA) and Technical Tests cover isolations, dismantling techniques, inspection of components, alignment techniques and clamp connectors as well as assembly and tightening techniques in specialist critical bolting. These short courses teach discrete, critical skills through approved training providers based on the ECITB Technical Training Standards.:- MJI01 Prepare the work area, materials and equipment in accordance with recognised HSEQ. MJI02 Reinstate the working area upon completion of mechanical jointing operations. MJI10 Hand torque bolted connections. Note: TMJI 10 & TMJI 11 Technical Tests associated with MJI 10 can be completed to prove competency after a consolidation period of 3-12 months. The behaviour of nuts and bolts when tightened. Health & Safety The behaviour of nuts and bolts when tightened and the importance of the correct residual bolt load. Gaskets and surface finish. Correct assembly of the flange components. Correct & safe uses of Subsea torque & tension equipment to implement a tightening procedure (Practical). Safe use of Nut Splitting techniques (Practical) Prepare equipment for the assembly and tightening of bolted connections using Subsea hydraulic torque equipment (Practical) Prepare materials for the assembly and tightening of bolted connections using Subsea hydraulic tensioning equipment (Practical) Check integrity of assembled bolted connection (Practical) Reinstate the work area after the assembly and tightening of bolted connections using hydraulic tensioning equipment (Practical) Candidates must have basic mechanical knowledge or working where their task requires them to work on bolted connections. 16 Mechanical MJI 21 Hydraulically Tensioned Subsea Bolted Connections An industry recognised 1 day course, audited by the ECITB providing training in the use of hydraulic tensioning equipment for subsea bolted pipework connections. This course is aimed at Divers & Deck Crew and any other personnel that are involved in critical subsea bolted connections. Stork, as an ECITB accredited training provider offers a method of training and validating skills in the specialist critical bolting area. Training courses, Work Based Task Assignments (WBTA) and Technical Tests cover isolations, dismantling techniques, inspection of components, alignment techniques and clamp connectors as well as assembly and tightening techniques in specialist critical bolting. 17 Mechanical - HBC 4 Bolt Flange Live Change Out 2 day course providing training in Stork s innovative equipment used in the process of Live Bolt Change Out on 4 bolt flanges. The course covers the principals of Live Bolt change out, and safe methods to carry out the scope of work using Stork s innovative HBC system. The Principals of Bolt loading (Pre-Loads & Bolt Scatter). The safe use and handling of the Bolt Change-out equipment. The use of Hand Torque equipment. The use of the Ultrasonic Measuring Device to assist in replacing to original bolt loads to the new bolts. Candidates must be competent in hand torque and hold a valid TMJI 10 certificate. Stork of Completion Mechanical OSM 01 Pipe Cutting & Pipe End Weld Preparation Pipe Cutting & Pipe End Weld Preparation 2 day course providing training in the use of Clamshell machines. Stork, as an ECITB accredited training provider offers a method of training and validating skills in the on-site machining area of pipe cutting and weld preparation. Training courses, Work Based Task Assignments (WBTA) and Technical Tests cover pipe cutting and weld preparation using externally mounted clamshell machines along with basic machine inspection, set up and maintenance. These short courses teach discrete, critical skills through approved training providers based on the ECITB Technical Training Standards. Note: TOSM 01 Technical Test associated with OSM 01 can be completed to prove competency after a consolidation period of 3-12 months. 18 Mechanical Machining Flange Facing Basic In-Situ Flange Face Machining Part 1 2 day course providing training in the use of Flange Facing machines! The objective of this course is to provide training in the use of ID & OD mounted Flange Facing Machines. The primary objective is for the safe use with a build-up of related basic skills and knowledge for operation and maintenance in the field. The course covers both operation of the Machines and techniques to cover the machining repairs of standard ANSI Flanges, incorporating Raised Face & Full Face, plus. Candidates must have basic mechanical knowledge Ear Plugs Stork of Completion Mechanical Machining Flange Facing Advanced In-Situ Flange Face Machining Part 2 2 day course providing training to use Flange Facing machines. The objective of this course is to provide further training in the use of the Flange Facing Machines. The primary objective is for safe use with a build-up of related basic skills and knowledge for operation and maintenance in the field. The course covers both operation of the Machines and techniques to cover the machining repairs of standard API Flanges, incorporating RTJ, HUB Type, plus Minimum PPE Required. 21 RPE Face Fit Testing Face Fit Testing Facility to provide Fit Testing of Respiratory Protective Equipment Face pieces Qualitative and Quantitative. Method used to check that face pieces match a person s facial features and seals adequately to the wearers face. Also ensures that incorrectly fitting face pieces are not selected for use Content Dependant on level of test and quantity of masks evaluated Candidates should be clean shaven and not eat, smoke, chew gum or drink anything other than plain water before a test as it can have an influence on the results. 23 Coatings & Applications - WDOS Use and operation of WDOS (Wet /Dry Offshore) blasting system 1 Day course providing training and guidance in the application, set-up, usage and maintenance of the WDOS Blast Unit The objectives of this course include: Introducing Supervisors/Painters to the wet and dry Blasting system Familiarisation of equipment Procedures and Completion of relevant documents. Ensuring blasting techniques meets industry standards.
