3 PILOT OPERATED REGULATION SYSTEM Product descripion UBP-B and BPM-P series are pressure reducing self-actuated valve, pilot operated, to be used for low pressure applicaions (e.g. blankeing). These series of regulators are derived from UB and BPM series, and feature a pilot control line which is used to sense and amplify the regulated pressure through the loading pressure. The main goal is to increase regulator sensiivity, i.e. to regulate with lower offset (droop) or to deliver higher capaciies with acceptable accuracy. Moreover this soluion permits to make shutoff forces adjustable to meet leakage class. The basic elements of a pilot operated regulator are [refer to Fig.2 for visual reference]: 1. Pilot valve (UBB model): it determines both set pressure and the behaviour of the system as a whole (i.e. backpressure regulator or pressure reducer). The major funcion of the pilot is to give an amplified signal to the main valve, hence to increase regulator sensiivity. 2. Main valve (UBS, shown, or BPM series): it defines the flow cofficient (CV), size, pressure raing, face-to-face dimensions, leakage class of the system as a whole. 3. Supply pressure regulator: it supplies a constant pressure to the pilot valve 4. Fixed restricion: it determines the amount of pressure gain for the main valve. 5.
