Diving and surface support personnel will learn to apply the latest techniques in underwater rescue and recovery to prepare them to respond effectively and safely to water incidents. Get started on your way to our more advanced and trainer level programs with Dive Rescue I. This program is presented in the classroom, pool and openwater to allow students to become familiar with the techniques prior to field scenarios. Prerequisites: All students must be a current member of a public safety agency, at least 18 years of age. Students must read and complete a RSTC medical statement prior to attending class. Any diver answering yes to a contraindication must have a physician s signature to participate in the diving portions of the program. Diving personnel must also have open water certification. Please make sure to present your RSTC Medical Statement to your instructor at the beginning of class. Surface Supplied Air - October 19-21, 2013 In-water program Participants will learn the basics of tethered umbilical diving for public safety dive applications and emergency procedures. Med Dive - October 19-20, 2013 Classroom only This is an in-depth study of preventative and on-site emergency care for injured divers. This program is a must for any team interested in optimizing member safety. Skills learned can be used by non-medical personnel as well as the most experienced responder. The program is recommended for all emergency medical professionals, rescue and dive team members. Course topics include: Medical evaluations of divers, Decompression physiology and bubble formation, Signs and symptoms of decompression sickness, Pulmonary barotrauma, Rapid field neurological exam, Field treatment of compressed gas injuries, Oxygen administration, Post-diving considerations, Integration of Med Dive Specialists into dive operations, Advanced treatment principles, and Monitoring of divers. *Entire program will be held in the classroom Prerequisites: All students must be a member of a public safety agency or health care field, and be at least 18 years old. Students must bring verification of current First Aid and CPR. Marine Sonic Sonar - October 19-20, 2013 Marine Sonic will provide two days of training in both classroom and on the water for SONAR operators who want to improve their skills or increase their knowledge. For teams who are considering the purchase of a side scan SONAR this hands on training will familiarize the operator with SONAR search theory, how to deploy towfish SONAR systems, how to image submerged targets, how to interpret the SONAR images for target identification and other skills helpful in making the SONAR a cost effective tool for increasing team safety and effectiveness. Because this program includes boat based operations, class size is limited so enroll early. Interspiro Technician - October 21, 2013 Classroom only The technicians who complete this training program will be certified by Interspiro to perform annual service and field maintenance on their Divator MK II full face masks. Certification is good for 5 years. Be sure to bring: A used Interspiro Divator MKII mask, hose, regulator and Mini Test Kit (one/dept.) Mini Test kits are available for advance purchase.*an Annual Service Kit is strongly recommended. Kirby Morgan Operator User Training w/ Certification - October 21, 2013 Be Sure to bring: All diving students must bring: US Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle, adequate clothing and protection from the environment and pen and paper for note-taking and sketching. Diving students must provide their own equipment: Scuba regulator: recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus, Air II, etc.) timing device, depth and submersible pressure gauges, BC with oral/power inflator, two tanks with current Hydro & VIP, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt and two cutting tools (knife, wire cutters, or trauma shears.)
9 Post Conference Classes Hosted by Dive Rescue International Panama City Beach, FL HazMat Diving - October 25-27, 2013 In-water program Contaminated water causes additional hazards and could possibly even stop your rescue/recovery operations. Almost all water is contaminated. Your team needs to be able to recognize, identify and operate in polluted water. During this program your team members will learn to operate in a cost-effective and proactive manner. All of Dive Rescue International's diving courses are taught in a classroom, a pool and an open-water site allowing students to practice their skills in a safe environment prior to the mandatory field scenario work. Kirby Morgan Maintenance & Repair Technician - October 25-27, 2013 TBD Water Operations Officer Development - October 25-26, 2013 Classroom only The scope of this course is to prepare emergency managers and leaders to operate within the National Incident Management System (NIMS) at a water operation event. This course takes incident command principles and applies them to large and small scale water rescue scenes. Students participate in incident command scenarios and make risk management decisions. Through scenario execution and discussion, students prepare for incidents of various magnitudes where the local NIMS-based ICS may transition to Unified Command. This course is ideal for Dive and Non-Dive Officers and Managers responsible for all types of water operations. Prerequisites: All students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 18 years of age. Kongsberg Sonar - October 25-26, 2013 Your team has made the considerable financial plunge and bought a sonar; however, are you using it to its full potential, and more importantly, what can it really resolve at any given range? This one day program will dispel the myths and mysteries of how sonar systems work, what they can detect, and how to best deploy and apply the system for SAR operations. This is not a "sales" pitch for any particular system, manufacturer, or technology. What you take away from this course can be applied to side-scan, scanning sonar and echo sounders. When a sonar is used correctly it is an incredible asset to your team; the trick is knowing what your system can and cannot do. OTS Guardian Repair - October 25, 2013 Classroom only The Ocean Technology Systems Guardian Full Face Mask Service Technician course is designed to provide the attendee with the knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain the Guardian Full Face mask. The course will cover the use and application of the OTS Guardian Full Face Mask, as well as fitting, cleaning, repairing and performance testing. Please bring a mask to the class or contact us to make arrangements if you don t have a mask. Tuition includes specialized tool kit and one night of hotel accommodations. Certification is valid for three (3) years.
