5 OXFORDSHIRE & NORTH BUCKIINGHAMSHIRE July 2012 Regional update Competition Update Regional Winter Championships 2012 Aldershot booked 1 st / 2 nd December 2012 and the competition will be swum short course There will be no parking outside the pool but ample opposite (not at the hockey or tennis venues) There will be permission to unload at the pool. Talk of resurrecting the sh Short Course Championships, continues, possibly in 2013, more likely sh Championships in 2013 are likely to be the last weekend in March (Easter) tbc Facilities Overview Aylesbury Vale Working with Aylesbury Vale to ensure that certain elements have been highlighted in the tender document for the new contract at the Aylesbury Pools Wycombe (I know it is outside of the area) Supporting Wycombe with the design on the new pool to ensure that it meets the competition standards that we require. Milton Keynes Supporting the club and the Council to provide advice and guidance over the Stantonbury Pool. South Oxfordshire Council Supporting the Council on the redevelopment of pools in the Didcot area Vale of White Horse Supporting the Council over possibility of increasing water space in the Wantage Area. Banbury Warriner School Supporting the school into the feasibility of covering their 4 25 meter pool and opening to clubs and the public. 6 Buckinghamshire Pool/contract Milton Keynes Aylesbury Vale Work area Get safe 4 summer programme, school swimming, facilities, water polo, Swim MK, apprentices, CPD s/ukcc UKCC courses, funded 50+ adult lessons to launch in sept Course Bursaries Both Oxfordshire Sports Partnership and Bucks Sport have new coaching bursaries information available, all the information is on their websites: Olympic Torch/community games The Olympic torch is coming through Ox and Bucks at the beginning of July, there are events going on as the torch passes and both Counties are keen to hear from clubs who would like to be part of that day, and the days surrounding it, to raise the profile of local sport and as an opportunity to attract new members. 7 Swim 21 Abingdon Vale SC, Banbury SC & Bicester Blue Fins SC, revalidation submissions were recommended for approval by the Regional Panel. The National Panel meeting has been moved to 11 th July. Official confirmation of revalidation will be received following the National Panel. City of Oxford SC is submitting for accreditation at the August Regional Panel meeting. Wantage White Horses SC is due to submit for reaccreditation at the August Regional Panel / September National Panel. The submission deadline is Friday 27 th July. Maxwell SC is due to revalidate at the August Regional Panel meeting, submission deadline 27 th July. If clubs would like to submit for accreditation/reaccreditation or revalidation online, please note you can now obtain your club password from Helen Mack on Helen.mack@freedom-leisure.co.uk 2012 Swim 21 Dates Deadline for File Regional Panel National Panel Submission Friday 27 July Thursday 16 August Wednesday 26 September Friday 26 October Thursday 15 November Wednesday 12 December selected by the South East Region to progress to the National Panel meeting on 11 th July. The next deadline for sh Gas Applications is 4 th November. Courses and CPD s sh Gas Funding. Thame SC sh Gas Funding Application was We still need more swimmer in the water for the Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses, If you do have any swimmers that could attend on the dates below, please let me know or contact Rachelle Reeves directly, using the details below. For the level 2 course we really need County, Regional and National swimmers. The dates that we need swimmers are: Sat 7th July - 4-5pm Sun 8th July - 3-5pm For the level 1 course we need top end of learn to swim and club swimmers, the dates are below: Sat 14th July 1-3pm Sun 15th July 1-3pm Sat 21st July 1-3pm Please do encourage any swimmers who are able to make these dates to get in touch with Rachelle Reeves at Abingdon School who will register them: Rachelle.reeves@abingdon.org.uk; Your support on this is much appreciated.

The Club Leaders project aims to train and support leaders of sports clubs just like you, in the business of running a club. This national project is part of the Sport England s Places People Play Olympic legacy programme and is completely free of charge. The overall aim is to help sports leaders become more successful and sustainable. Business and Financial Planning Seminar on Monday 9 th July 1800 to 2000 at Savannah House, 3 Ocean Way, Ocean Village Southampton. Please register on the website This is an exciting project that can benefit your club and help you make sense of sport administration. When will the Learning Bus be visiting? The Learning Bus will be touring the country so the programme can focus on real people, in their own environment, addressing their specific needs. Anyone can just pop in and find out more; Find out more! By speaking to our Club Leaders trainers about the project including how they can get involved in seminars and apply for our mentoring scheme. Have a go! Club leaders are welcome to come on board and make use of the 14 computers (2 on lower deck for ease of access) to see what is on offer or take one of the e-learning modules there and then.
