1 DERBYSHIRE AMATEUR SWIMMING ASSOCIATION (Affiliated to the A.S.A. East Midland Region) 2017 COUNTY, YOUTH AND AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS (Under A.S.A. Laws and ASA Technical Rules of swimming) CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF ENTRIES FOR ALL EVENTS 16 th January 2017 ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION All entrants in individual events must be eligible competitors as defined by ASA Law and must be registered with the ASA on the closing date in the name of the club under which they wish to enter. That club must be directly affiliated to Derbyshire ASA. No competitor shall have swum in any other County s championships / competitions in There will be registration checks. Members of relay teams must be members of the club which is entering the team and if a swimmer is a member of more than one club and has entered one or more individual events they can only swim for the club they entered as individuals. AGES FOR INDIVIDUAL EVENTS All ages are as at 31 st December Juniors are defined 16 or under years on 31 st December There is a one age group for 10/11 years and single year age groups for ages 12-16, a combined age group and a 20 & over age group. Awards will be given to the first six in each stroke and age group provided there are seven or more swimmers otherwise on the basis of number of swimmers minus one. Awards for the and 20 & over age groups will be decided from the individual heat events and where finals are involved the time achieved in the final will take precedence. ENTRY FOR AGE GROUP EVENTS. All events will be swum with seeded heats. Entry times, converted if necessary to a 25m pool, must have been achieved after 1st January All entry times to be taken from the British Swimming Rankings. CHAMPIONSHIPS Championship awards will be decided from the individual event heats and where finals are involved the time achieved in the final will take precedence. If less than 8 qualifying competitors are involved in the final then the remaining awards will be determined from times recorded in the heats. TROPHY WINNERS FROM 2016 EVENTS Please can all trophy winners ensure all trophies are returned to Julie Softley at the first session of the championships. Please contact Julie Softley by (juesoffo@ntlworld.com) if this cannot be arranged. HEATS AND FINALS All 50m and 100m individual events will be swum as heats and finals and other individual events swum with Declared Winners. JUNIOR / OPEN Awards will be made to the first three in each stroke providing there are 4 or more swimmers competing otherwise awards will be on the basis of number of swimmers minus one. DISABLED SWIMMERS Disabled swimmers can enter the championships and will be ranked using British Disability Points. Awards will be made to the top three in each stroke provided there are four or more swimmers otherwise on the basis of number of swimmers minus one. COMPETITOR REPORTING Competitors may withdraw from events up to 1 hour before the scheduled start of the session. Prior to on the Friday before the session withdrawals can be made by telephoning Mrs Mellor on or comp@derbyshireswimming.org.uk. After the above time withdrawals can be made by texting prior to the start time of the warm up and leaving a message stating swimmers name, gala, event number and competitor number. Withdrawals on the day of competition can also be made on a completed form which must be given to the administration desk prior to the start of the warm up to avoid a fine. FINES FOR LATE WITHDRAWAL OR NO-SHOW Late withdrawals and no-shows without an acceptable written reason being reported to the administration desk will result in a 5 fine per swim, payable by the club under whose name the swimmer has entered the competition. Non-payment of the fine will result in the swimmer being prevented from entry to any other competition promoted by Derbyshire ASA until the fine has been paid. FEES & ENTRIES All individual events per event. Relay entries 8.00 per team per event. All entries should be submitted through the swimmer s club. The method of submission of entries is by the Sportsystems Entry Manager program, which is available for all clubs. The electronic entry file should be ed to comp@derbyshireswimming.org.uk by the closing date 16 th January Please note there will be a surcharge for manual entries of per club For individual events only one set of entries will be accepted from each swimmer. Please note the single closing date above. No additional entries will be accepted after this closing date. Entry fees should be made to your club who will collate all entries. Mellor by 3 rd February 2017 ( comp@derbyshireswimming.org.uk). ASA LICENCE This competition will be licensed by the ASA for entry into National and Regional Championships.
