1 How to Use TDM for a 10 and Under Tournament 1. Once you have filled out the online sanction form for your tournament and the registration deadline has passed, you will need to download Tournament Data Manager (TDM) in order to run your tournament. Visit and download TDM. 1

2 2. Now that you have downloaded TDM, go ahead and open the program. Upon opening TDM, you will first need to click the File menu and select Download New Tournament. 2

3 3. Next you will need to enter your Tournament ID number (this can be found on your TennisLink sanction form) and click Ok. Your tournament information (including players that have registered for your tournament) will be downloaded into TDM for you to setup the remainder of your tournament. 3

4 4. Once you have downloaded your tournament, you will see the screen below. You can see it shows the tournament ID (in the case below the Tournament ID is not real, so it shows -4 ), the Tournament Name (in the case below Everytown 10 and Under Showdown ), and other information about the organization running the event. 4

Now you will want to sort players into your different events, based on how many you had sign up in which age groups, etc. Remember, it is okay to play co-ed and to split the group into as many different round robins as you d like. Click on the Events button at the top of the screen. There you will see the events you had predetermined when going through the sanctioning process. From there, you can create and edit events. 5

6 6. When creating/editing an event, you will see the following screen. You will want to assign the level as QuickStart, choose the division (which will then auto-name the event), and choose the draw type. In this case, I have chosen the level as QuickStart, the division as Co-ed 8 Singles (which then autonamed my event), and chose Round Robin as my draw type. 7. For the sake of this demonstration, I have created three events; Co-ed 8 Singles, Boys 10 Singles, and Girls 10 Singles. At the bottom of the page, you can see the players who are registered to play in the above highlighted event. You can move players from event to event by dragging their name to a different event. Once you have all of the players in the events in which you want, click on the Edit Event button for each event and where it says Round Limit, you will need to click the Default button to the right. This will set the event up each event as a single round robin. 6

7 8. Once you have all of your players sorted out into the different groups, you are ready to create draws. Click on the Draws button. On the draws tab, you will want to click the Draws menu: Make/Unmake Options : Make All Singles Draws. This will auto-create your draws for you based on the events you created and number of players in each event from the last step. 7

8 9. Once your draws are created, you will be able to toggle between each draw and round robin by using the two tabs at the top. 8

9 10. With your draws created, you are ready to schedule the tournament. Remember, these 10 and Under Tournaments should last no longer than 3-4 hours. Once you determine how many courts you have available, you can start to schedule. For the sake of this demonstration, we are going to say that I have eight courts available and our tournament will be played from 4:00-7:30pm. Once you have figured out all of the match times, you can enter the match times directly into the draws, click the Match Schedule button on the side, and input a time, as shown below. 9

10 11. You should schedule all first round matches. You can schedule this based on how many courts you have available. In our example, we have enough courts for everyone to play their first match at 4pm, so I have scheduled them all to do so. Additionally, I have scheduled the rest of the tournament s matches based on the fact that the 8 and Under division will be playing 2 out of 3 tie-breaks (which take about 25 minutes each match), and the 10 and Under divisions will be playing one 4-game short set (which take about 25 minutes each match). So if they played their first match at 4pm, I will schedule their second match for 4:45, and so on. 10

Now that you have your players entered in the correct events, your draws and schedule are made; it is time to publish your draws and schedule to Tennislink so players will know the times for their first matches. In order to do that, you will need to click on the File menu, and select, Upload to Tennislink Whenever you make changes on TDM, you want to be sure to upload to TennisLink in order to publish those changes. Now your draws and schedule will be posted online on TennisLink. 11

12 13. During your tournament, you will also use TDM to input scores. It is also nice to have some printed draws, so players can see the results of the tournament. There are many different ways you can enter a score, but the easiest is to click the Draws button. Then to input a score in a particular draw in a particular match, you will make sure you have the draw you want selected, and the round you want selected. Then you can double click between the match for which you want to enter a score. You will then select the winner, and input the score. When you are finished, click Ok. 14. Once your tournament has been completed, and your scores have all been entered, you will need to upload the tournament to TennisLink again.
