2 BEYBLADE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OFFICIAL RULES OF PLAY ( OFFICIAL RULES ) TOURNAMENT DETAILS Each participating country will send a representative from their country or area to compete in the BEYBLADE World Championship. ELIGIBILITY The BEYBLADE World Championship is open to kids at least eight (8) years old and no older than fourteen (14) on the day of the BEYBLADE World Championship. Children of employees of Hasbro, Inc., Nelvana Limited, Corus Entertainment Inc. and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, promotion and advertising agencies, licensees, and persons, whether or not related, living in the same household as such employees are not eligible to enter. By competing in the BEYBLADE World Championships, Competitor agrees to complete and execute a Competitor Waiver and Release and an Affidavit of Eligibility. GENERAL GUIDELINES 1. The country Tournament Producer is the final authority regarding these Official Rules. The Tournament Producer will designate Referees to enforce these Official Rules during tournament play. Decisions by Referees are final and unarguable. 2. Modifications to these rules may be required in particular situations, including but not limited to insurance requirements, laws, or regulations; in such instances, the Tournament Producer may modify these Official Rules as necessary. Questions regarding modifications should be directed to the Tournament Producer or the Tournament Producer s designated representative before the tournament begins. 3. If there is a conflict between these Official Rules and other BEYBLADE game play rules, these Official Rules shall govern. Official Rules may vary in online battles, in each country or area, and at each level of competition, including the World BEYBLADE Battle Series or the national championships for the world championship. Some countries or areas may offer the opportunity to obtain certain advantages through participation in promotions, contests, or otherwise. EQUIPMENT Competitors are responsible for providing their own Official Gear (as defined below). Competitors must use the following equipment during Battle: 1. BEYBLADE Metal Fusion Battle Tops, BEYBLADE Metal Master Battle Tops, string launchers and other items noted in the Attachment (collectively, Official Gear ). 2. Each BEYBLADE top must contain the following five (5) parts: Face Bolt, Energy Ring, Fusion Wheel, Spin Track and Performance Tip. Each BEYBLADE top used in a Match must utilize a different Fusion Wheel. 3. BEYBLADE tops that do not disassemble are not allowed. 4. The use of modified or broken BEYBLADE parts or accessories is prohibited. If parts or accessories are found to be broken, worn out, painted or purposely modified to change its original function or if the referee judges that it is dangerous to use in battles, they must be replaced by the Competitor immediately. Replacement parts are the sole responsibility of the Competitor.

3 5. String launcher for right-spinning top is not allowed to be used with left-spinning top. And the one for left-spinning top is not allowed to be used with right-spinning top. 6. Tournament Producers will provide the Official BEYSTADIUM. 7. A Competitor must select three pre-assembled (see a) BEYBLADE tops, and decide the order to use them before each Match (without disclosing this to their Opponent). A Competitor may only change their BEYBLADE tops when they or their opponents are instructed to do so by the Referee, or when they go against a different opponent. a. All BEYBLADE tops to be used in the World Championship must be fully assembled prior to the start of the tournament. Unless instructed by a referee, Competitors will not be allowed to disassemble and or customize their tops once the tournament begins. INSPECTION OF EQUIPMENT 1. The Referee will inspect all BEYBLADE tops before each Match. 2. The Referee may inspect any BEYBLADE top at any time. Upon request the Competitor must disassemble the BEYBLADE top and allow immediate inspection by the Referee. 3. During a Match if a Competitor suspects an Opponent is using non-official Gear the Competitor must communicate this to the Referee before the Battle begins. 4. If a Competitor is found to be using non-official Gear the Competitor must immediately cease any use of non-official Gear or be disqualified from the tournament. The Competitor may be allowed to continue in the tournament using Official Gear. TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN 1. REGISTRATION. Upon arriving at the tournament location, each Competitor must register with the Tournament Producer and will be given instructions for Battle. All Competitors must be accompanied, at all times, by their parent or legal guardian. 2. WAIVERS. Each Competitor s parent or legal guardian must complete a Competitor Waiver and Release for themselves and their child or ward. 3. OFFICIAL RULES. Every Competitor must have, and is assumed to have, full knowledge of these Official Rules. The Tournament Producers will have copies of these Official Rules available to Competitors during registration. GAME PLAY START OF BATTLE 1. A Battle will consist of at least two (2) Competitors launching their BEYBLADE tops into a BEYSTADIUM upon the Referee s signal of 3, 2, 1, LET IT RIP! 2. If a Competitor is not present at the beginning of the Battle their Opponent will automatically win by default. If a starting time has been assigned, it is the Competitor s responsibility to be at their assigned BEYSTADIUM at the assigned time with working Official Gear. 3. If a Competitor is not prepared or their BEYBLADE top is not properly assembled when the Battle begins, they will forfeit the Battle and their Opponent will win by default.

4 LAUNCH 1. Only one launch is allowed per Battle. 2. Competitors must launch their BEYBLADE top from within the designated area. 3. Competitors cannot launch their BEYBLADE top from a standing, jumping or running position. 4. BEYBLADE tops must be launched immediately following the signal 3, 2, 1, LET IT RIP! Competitors who launch their tops before the signal is given or who delay the launch of their tops until after the signal is given will receive a warning for that violation, and if the violation is repeated a second time the Competitor will automatically lose that Battle. END OF BATTLE The Battle ends when one top stops spinning or if a top is knocked into a pocket or out of the stadium. If the Referee determines that both of the BEYBLADE tops stopped spinning at the same time the Referee will declare the Battle a tie. If a Battle ends with tie, additional Battles will be played until a Battle is won. WINNING 1. If a Competitor touches his or her Opponent, spinning BEYBLADE tops, or the BEYSTADIUM before the Referee calls the winner of each Battle, they will automatically lose that Battle. 2. If at any time during the Battle a BEYBLADE top launches outside of the BEYSTADIUM the Competitor automatically loses that Battle. 3. If a Competitor s BEYBLADE top enters a side pocket of the BEYSTADIUM without immediate escape (bounce back into Battle) they will automatically lose the Battle. 4. The winner of a Match will be the Competitor that wins the majority of the 3 Battles (3 Deck System) by winning 2 of the 3 Battles. ROUNDS There will be two distinct Rounds in this tournament: A Pool Play Round and a Bracket Play Round. The Pool Play Round will narrow the Competitors from 25, to 16 in a round robin style format. And the 2 nd Pool Play round will narrow the Competitors from 16 to 8 in a round robin style format. The Bracket Play Round will narrow the remaining 8 Competitors down to one final winner, one runner-up and one second runner up. POOL PLAY: The 25 total participants will be broken up into (3) pools of six participants and (1) pool of seven participants randomly. Each Pool Play Round will consist of up to six (6) Matches. The winner of the Match will be the Competitor who wins the majority of the 3 Battles by winning 2 of the 3 Battles. If a Battle ends with tie, additional Battles will be played until a Battle is won. Competitors will use the same tops in any additional battles resulting from a tie. Each Competitor will be guaranteed five Matches, and the Competitors holding the top four records for total Matches won in each pool will advance to the Elite 16 (the 2 nd Pool Play Round).

5 If there are two or more Competitors who have the same record, the Competitor with the most cumulative Total Battles won (Total Battles Won= Total Battles Won- Total Battles Lost) will advance to the Elite 16. If there are two Competitors with the same cumulative Total Battles won they will battle head-to-head in a single elimination Battle. The winner of the Battle will advance to the Elite 16. If there are three or more Competitors with the same cumulative Total Battles won, they will battle each other in a single Battle Round Robin style format. The winner of the Round Robin Battles will advance to the Elite 16. Before the bracket play starts, the Elite 8 draw to confirm the participants. The Elite 16 Competitors will be randomly broken up into (4) pools of four participants. Each Pool Play Round in the Elite 16 will consist of up to three (3) Matches. The winner of the Match will be the Competitor who wins the majority of the 3 Battles by winning 2 of the 3 Battles. If a Battle ends with tie, additional Battles will be played until a Battle is won. Competitors will use the same tops in any additional battles resulting from a tie. Each Competitor will be guaranteed (3) three Matches, and the Competitors holding the top two records in each pool will advance to the Elite 8. If there are two or more Competitors who have the same record, the Competitor with the most cumulative Total Battles won (Total Battles Won= Total Battles Won- Total Battles Lost) will advance to the Elite 8. If there are two Competitors with the same cumulative Total Battles won they will battle head-to-head in a single elimination Battle. The winner of the Battle will advance to the Elite 8. If there are three or more Competitors with the same cumulative Total Battles won, they will battle each other in a single Battle Round Robin style format. The winner of the Round Robin Battles will advance to the Elite 8. A master schedule will be posted and the officials will announce times and schedules periodically; however it is the responsibility of each Competitor to be aware of the time and schedules. BRACKET PLAY: Before the bracket play starts, the Elite 8 draw to confirm the Competitor. The Elite 8 (Quarterfinalists) will participate in a three battle Match, best of three by winning 2 of the 3 Battles, single elimination tournament. If a Battle ends with tie, additional Battles will be played until a Battle is won. Competitors will use the same tops in any additional battles resulting from a tie. Competitors that win their Quarterfinal Match will advance to the Semifinals Match. Competitors that lose in the Quarterfinal Match will be eliminated from the tournament. The top two Competitors from the Semifinals will advance to the Final. The winner in the Final will be the BEYBLADE World Champion.

6 DISQUALIFICATION 1. The Referee or Tournament Producer may eject a Competitor from the tournament if the Competitor violates these Official Rules or if, in the judgment of the Referee or Tournament Producer, the Competitor acts in an unsportsmanlike manner (see Code of Conduct below). 2. If a Competitor purposely launches a BEYBLADE top at a person at any time the Competitor will be disqualified. CODE OF CONDUCT Good sportsmanship and knowing and following these Official Rules are required at all times. If a Competitor decides to participate in a tournament, it is the responsibility of that Competitor to know not only how to play but how to play according to these Official Rules. These Official Rules allow competitive battles to be played in an orderly fashion. Some of the things to keep in mind are: 1. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. Refrain from unsportsmanlike-like gestures or language. Encourage, don t criticize. Respect your Opponent s effort. Show a positive attitude toward all participants. 2. RESPECT GAME OFFICIALS. Show respect for the Referee, and the Referee s decisions, at all times. Accept the Referee s decisions without being impolite or engaging in other inappropriate behavior and follow the direction of the Referees. Accept the Referee s judgment calls. 3. FAIR PLAY. Be honest and play fair. Cooperate with both your fellow Competitor and Referee. Have fun! SPECTATORS 1. Work cooperatively with Referees who are there to officiate the tournament and keep order. 2. Encourage good sportsmanship and positive behavior. 3. Respect the rules of the game. Have fun!
