The schedule and tournament draw are enclosed for your information. Tournament Notes Seeding for Provincials will use the sum total of the results from SUBWAY Sask Cup #1 & 2. Just Volleyball will be setting up a merchandise booth where select volleyball equipment and clothing will be available for purchase. PROOF OF AGE Coaches will need to show one government issued document for each athlete (original or photocopy health card, birth certificate or passport accepted) at the Henk Ruys Technical Office (Officials room) PRIOR TO THEIR FIRST MATCH. The Technical office will be open Friday, April 22-4:30 8:00 p.m. If documentation isn t produced, athletes will not be allowed to play. CHECK-IN IS AVAILABLE: HENK RUYS SOCCER CENTRE - FRIDAY, APRIL 22 4:30 8:00 P.M. *NOTE: Team are strongly urged to check-in on Friday evening. This helps them avoid line-ups and delays at check-in on Saturday morning. A Friday check-in also enables any roster issues to be resolved, well in advance of the start of match play on Saturday morning. Coaches will also pick up their Coach s package during check-in. The coach s package includes: Coaching cards and Authorization wristbands. All Head and Assistant Coaches MUST wear their wristband and also have completed the requirements for Respect in Sport (refer to Sask Volleyball Program Guide, p. 25) before they will be permitted (Authorized) to be on the bench.

2 Head Coaches must present their Coaching Certification Cards prior to EACH match and the NCCP number is to be recorded on the score sheet each match. Head Coaches must present their verified Team Roster sheet prior to start of EACH match. Each team will be provided with a Spirit of the Game award at check-in, courtesy of Just Volleyball. Each team is responsible for selecting one athlete from their team (once during the tournament) to receive this award, present the award to the athlete, and communicate back to tom@saskvolleyball.ca with team, age group, and athlete name of the award winner. TeamWorks Photo will be taking a Team Photo of every team at the event for the Sask Volleyball archives. You will receive an early next week indicating a timeslot that has been reserved for your team, which will be either immediately before or after one of your matches early in the tournament. If that timeslot doesn t work for you, you can just drop in to the booth and TeamWorks Photo will fit you in. Courts 12 and 13 will be webcast live, and archives of the matches will be available to the public on the Sask Volleyball YouTube channel. Each team participating in a webcast match will be asked to select a Player of the Game from the opposing team. Each Player of the Game will receive an award courtesy of Booster Juice. Parking is limited at Henk Ruys Soccer Center, so teams are encouraged to car-pool. Parking is not permitted beside and in front of the Saskatoon Civic Centre. Violators may be ticketed by that facility. Overflow parking is available across Primrose Dr. in the Mall of Lawson Heights, East lot. Tournament Rules/Format All Volleyball Canada Rules will be in effect for this tournament. The Mikasa MVA 200 will be the official competition ball for this age category. NOTE: Serve/Receive Rule o Receiving a serve overhand with the fingers (like a set or a volley), is ILLEGAL for categories 16U and younger. o Any such attempt will be called by the official, regardless of the quality of the conduct. 12 limited substitution rule in effect; NO libero. ALL players MUST start within a match. Volleyball Canada Fair Play rules apply.... all players listed on the score sheet must start the first or second set. In the first two sets no substitutions may take place before one team has scored 15 points. An athlete may be substituted in and out due to injury. If a third set is necessary, any line-up can be used. (Reference: Sect p. 33. Volleyball Canada Official Rules) NOTE: Volleyball Canada Fair play rule addendum (2016): If a player becomes injured/ill before one team has scored 15 points, an Exceptional Substitution may be made. The injured/ill player may not return to the same set, but may return to play in subsequent sets in the match. If the player becomes ill/injured in the 1 st set, the ill/injured player may not start the 2 nd set, but may enter as a substitute after 15 points have been scored.

3 Coaches must initial the opposing team s starting line-up for the second set prior to the start of the second set. If all players have not started a set, the penalty is a point being awarded for an illegal substitution and the team must correct the line-up. 5-1 tactical system is NOT allowed. All games will be played Rally Point to 25 (no cap) - you must win by 2 points. The third game of the Best of Three Matches will be played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points (no cap). Head Coaches must be certified Level 1 in Volleyball at the time of registration. First time coaches will be given a one year grace period to complete their Level 1. Officiating All teams will provide Minor Officials for each game in which you are scheduled to play. You must provide 1 Scorekeeper and 1 Linesman per match. These players are still eligible to play and may be substituted in to play. You may wish to have a few parent volunteers take care of this duty for your team. Tie-Breakers Based on Volleyball Canada Rules, if two or more teams are tied at the end of round robin play, the following criteria will be applied in order: a) The team having the best ratio of won/lost matches, considering matches between tied teams, will be ranked higher; b) The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering matches played between the tied teams, will be ranked higher; c) The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering all matches of the round, will be ranked higher; d) The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering games played between tied teams, will be ranked higher; e) The team having the best ratio of point for/against, considering all games played during the round, will be ranked higher; f) As determined by the Organizing Committee (e.g. extra game, toss of coin, etc.) Match Preparation Please have your team ready to play on time. Once all teams have played one match, you will have only a five-minute ball warm up on court before the start of your next match. Your co-operation would be appreciated in moving our tournament ahead of schedule if the opportunity presents itself. All games shall start on time as scheduled. Failure of a team to be ready to play at the scheduled time will be penalized by the loss of the first set by forfeit. A further 15 minutes will be allowed before the forfeiture of the second set. Teams must supply their own warm up balls. Coaches please fill in your rosters and sign the score sheet prior to each match.
