The meet is set to get underway at 6 p.m. inside St. John Arena and will be streamed on BTN Plus. Last Time Out The Buckeyes showed hardly any rust after a month in the gym, notching a season-high score and defeating Penn State, on Saturday at the Arnold Challenge. Ohio State took first place on the pommel as Alec Yoder scored a in his specialty. Jesse Tyndall used the Arnold Challenge as his playground, taking first place on the parallel bars with a and tallying a on the high bar. Angel Leon continues to shine for the Bucks, scoring a on the floor, on the rings and the parallel bars, and a on the high bar. Max Andryushchenko tied the highest score of the day on the rings with a , while Alex Wilson took first place on the vault with a Yoder Named Nissen Emery Finalist Senior is among the finalists for the prestigious Nissen Emery Award, given annually to that year s outstanding senior collegiate gymnast. Yoder looks to become the bring back-to-back Nissen Emery wins to Columbus following Sean Melton s win in National Scores Ohio State enters the meet with the seventh-best scoring average ( ) in the nation, while holding down the fifth-highest average on the pommel (68.817), the seventh-highest average on the parallel bars (68.083) and the eight-best average on the rings (67.250). Minnesota comes to Columbus with the seventhhighest average ( ), and the Gophers shine with the third-highest average on the pommel (69.667), while holding down the fourth-best average on both the floor (69.650) and the vault (71.800). Nebraska slots in behind the Buckeyes with the eight-best average in the nation ( ). The Huskers excel on parallel bars with the fifth-best average (68.517), and hold the sixth-highest average scores on both the vault (71.400) and the high bar (66.467) Scouting the Gophers The Gophers come into the weekend just ahead of the Buckeyes in the polls, holding down the No. 6 spot. Vitali Kan was also named a Nissen Emery finalist earlier this week, he s one of the captains of the team along with fellow senior Shaun Herzog and junior Timmy Kutyla. 2 Digging Deeper on Nebraska The Huskers enter the weekend just behind the Buckeyes in the polls, slotting in at No. 8 in the nation. Nebraska is led by Anton Stephenson, another finalist for the Nissen Emery award and two-time All-American. The Huskers claimed three event titles (floor, vault and high bar) last weekend at Iowa in a narrow defeat to the Hawkeyes. Yoder and Melton Earn Spots on U.S. Senior National Team of the Ohio State University Men s Gymnastics team has been named to the United States Senior Men s National Team through the 2019 U.S. Championships, USA Gym officials announced last month. Yoder joins Sean Melton, who secured his spot with a strong performance in the all-around competition at the Winter Cup on Feb. 15. Melton took sixth place with an score on the evening. His strongest performance came on the rings where he tallied a , good for fourth place. The 2018 Nissen Emery Award winner tied for fifth place on the pommel horse with a score. Both Yoder and Melton have their spots on U.S. Senior Men s National Team through the 2019 U.S. Championships in Kansas City, Missouri in August.
