The opportunity to compete for a Provincial Banner and the right to wear the Ontario back crest at a Canadian Championship is a feat and dream for many an athlete in our sport. We want to congratulate each of you on your dedication to the sport of curling. 5 Welcome Message from President On behalf of the Board of the Hamilton Victoria Curling Club, it is my pleasure to welcome you to The Vic for the 2017 U18 Provincial Curling Championships. The Vic has had a long and proud history of curling in the Hamilton area. Along with Canada, The Vic celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2017 making us one of the oldest continually operating curling clubs in Canada this is a tradition that we hope to carry on for many more years to come. Hosting this event epitomizes what our club practices which is to support and invest in our future curlers. And because our club believes in creating opportunities for the youth, this is one of the reasons why our club has lasted for so long. What a great way to celebrate 150 years by hosting this event at a club that invests in our youth for a sustainable future. This event is just the beginning to a year-long full of festivities we have planned celebrating our club s rich history. Many thanks to Carmelinda Del Conte and her hosting committee for organizing this bonspiel. Again, welcome and good curling to all participants. Mary Aduckiewicz President, The Hamilton Victoria Curling Club Banquet Guest Speaker - Adrian Tracy Adrian Tracy is in his third full season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he plays defensive end. The native of Fairfax, Virginia was signed as a free agent by Hamilton in October after playing with the NFL s New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. Prior to turning pro, Tracy studied Kinesiology at the College of William & Mary in Williamsbrug, Virginia. He currently holds the school record for career sacks (31) and career starts (47). Adrian will speak to the athletes about their obligations to media requests and how an athletes conduct will not only help protect their image but could be the key to recruitment success. This is timely with the winning teams advancing to the new U18 National Championships in April. 4
