Governance: Who is Redwood League? Redwood League (RWL) is comprised of clubs from Burlingame to Palo Alto Clubs must meet specific criteria to join Redwood League The Club Presidents (or DOC or other Club Board Member) meet monthly to discuss areas of concern Each club has one vote for each currently-registered CYSA team The Executive Committee is elected by the Club Presidents and has fiduciary responsibility for the League
Redwood League Executive Committee
Redwood League Programs Fall Class 3 Fall League (Sept-Nov) Area: Burlingame to Palo Alto (occasionally SF) May borrow players Cost for fall 2010 TBD Registration league for all CYSA teams Spring Class 3 Spring League (late-march to late-may) Area: Burlingame to Palo Alto (occasionally SF) Flexible Rosters (26/18 and 18/13) May borrow players from the club $50/team; players new to CYSA: $10 Half price entry into Spring District Cup, if paid at time of spring league registration Host of Spring District Cup divisions
Redwood League and District 2 Programs Officials Ongoing referee courses free of charge Single point of referee assignment as well as evaluation ( Monitored and transparent incident reporting and red card monitoring and compliance Coaches CYSA offers free coaching education courses (most coaches have been licensed through this USYS licensing program) RWL and CYSA have minimum licensing requirements for head coaches
CYSA Programs ODP Open to all players regardless of club affiliation Players may advance to State, Regional and National Teams Major factor for college coaches Direct cost (uniforms) paid by player All 100 National Pool U14 players came from ODP TOPS Program State, Association and Founders Cup Open to all teams that play in any CYSA league State Cup winners advance to USYS Regional Championships Regional winners advance to National Championships CYSA plans to revamp the State Cup format to improve competition and bracketing Soccer for disabled players

CYSA Programs Registration CYSA plans to introduce online registration in 2010 Transfer waiting time has been changed from 7 to 1 day Scholarship and Field Development In the last three years, Redwood League has donated or pledged $100,000 to local turf fields and an additional $50K to the CYSA Soccer Complex in the South Bay Scholarships for all the needy kids within RWL and D2 Financial support for State Champions from RWL to participate in the Regional Championships.
Other Points to Consider Redwood League is a community that works respectfully together in a democratic structure (representing clubs, coaches and officials) to solve problems with the needs of players at the forefront of its decisions Redwood League fees stay local and RWL clubs have a vote on all issues, including how funds are allocated NorCal League does not currently have a democratic structure clubs, coaches and officials do not have a vote in decisions about finances, calendar, or governance NorCal allows any new club to join, and they often compete with established clubs for players and field space RWL/CYSA have rules against poaching, rules that are not existent in NorCal NorCal and NJ are the only two states that offer State Cup under USCS
