The contest marks the second friendly of the 2017 campaign for the Rave Green, as Seattle drew Mexico s Club Necaxa 1-1 in March at CenturyLink Field. Dating back to 2009, Sounders FC holds a record of in friendly competition. Under Head Coach Niko Kovač, Frankfurt finished 11th in the Bundesliga during the campaign with a record of In May, the club reached the final of the domestic cup (DFB-Pokal), but fell to Borussia Dortmund 2-1. Eintracht is the first Bundesliga club to face Sounders FC in a friendly. Unbeaten in three straight MLS matches, Sounders FC defeated the Colorado Rapids by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Forward Clint Dempsey recorded a brace and now leads the team with seven goals. 3 SOUNDERS FC WEEKLY NOTES LAST MATCH REWIND: VS. COL QUICK HITS: VS. EINTRACHT Sounders FC is this season and sits in a tie for sixth place in the Western Conference. The victory moved Seattle to three consecutive matches with a result in league play following draws with Portland on June 25 and Orlando on June 21. Sounders FC improved to against the Colorado Rapids in league play. The Rave Green s 14 wins against Colorado are the most of any opponent in MLS. Forward Clint Dempsey scored his sixth goal of the season in the first half, then added his seventh tally in the 85th minute. His 41 goals in league play with Sounders FC pass Obafemi Martins 40 goals for the second most in club history. Dempsey now just trails Fredy Montero s record of 47 goals. Forward Will Bruin also recorded his sixth goal of the 2017 campaign in the first half. Midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro provided his sixth assist of the season on the goal, which ties Joevin Jones for the team lead. Eintracht Frankfurt is the second friendly of the 2017 campaign for Sounders FC. In March, Sounders FC played to a 1-1 draw against Mexico s Club Necaxa at CenturyLink Field. Sounders FC holds a record of in friendly competition since 2009 and currently rides a four-match unbeaten streak. Eintracht Frankfurt is the first German club to play Sounders FC in an international friendly. Assistant Coach Gonzalo Pineda is set to fill-in for Head Coach Brian Schmetzer on Saturday, as Schmetzer finishes a U.S. Soccer coaching education course in Nashville. With the 3-1 result, Seattle registered its first multi-goal win since April 23 (3-0 at LA Galaxy) and the third of the season. Midfielder Ozzie Alonso (knee) and defender Chad Marshall (foot) each left the match in the first half due to injury. SOUNDERS FC SIGNS LEERDAM Seattle Sounders FC announced the signing of fullback Kelvin Leerdam. The 27-year-old Dutch international comes to Seattle after nine professional seasons in the Eredivisie, and is being added to Sounders FC s roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate. Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) was used to acquire Leerdam, and per MLS and club policy, additional terms of the deal are not being disclosed. Leerdam joins the Rave Green following nine professional seasons with Feyenoord and SBV Vitesse in the Eredivisie, the Netherlands top division. The Utrecht native has amassed 186 career league appearances, with 16 goals and 8 assists in the Eredivisie dating back to After starring for Feyenoord s youth club from , Leerdam signed a professional contract with the First Team and went on to become a regular for five seasons, accumulating over 100 appearances across all competitions for the Rotterdam side. He moved to Vitesse in 2013, where he scored a career-high eight goals in the campaign, leading the Arnhem-based club to a fourth-place finish in the table. He went on to make over 100 all-competition appearances across four campaigns for Vitesse. In total, Leerdam s clubs have a record of when the fullback registers a goal or an assist. FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan have been named to U.S. Men s National Team Head Coach Bruce Arena s 23-player roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morris, who has six international caps so far in 2017, is joined by teammate Roldan in the latter s first call-up to the senior USMNT. The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the region s official national team tournament, plays this month throughout the United States. Morris, 22, has 16 caps for the U.S. Men s National Team, including six appearances so far in The Mercer Island native scored his second international goal in a 1-0 friendly win over Jamaica in February, following his first USMNT strike against Mexico on April 15, The Sounders FC Homegrown Player has two goals in 15 appearances so far in 2017 MLS regular season action after recording 14 goals in his first professional campaign last year (including postseason), earning 2016 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year honors. Roldan, 22, earns his first senior team USMNT call-up amidst his third professional season with Sounders FC. The versatile midfielder has played every minute so far this season, recording two goals and two assists, after making 55 appearances across his first two MLS seasons. Prior to the pro ranks, the Pico Rivero native spent two standout seasons at the University of Washington after a decorated high school career in which he was named the 2013 Gatorade National Player of the Year with 54 goals and 31 assists in his senior season. Two additional Sounders FC players have been called into international duty for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, with Oniel Fisher and Jordy Delem joining Jamaica and Martinique, respectively. Both Fisher and Delem recently completed participation the 2017 Caribbean Cup in Martinique. Fisher, 25, has six career caps for the Jamaican National Team, including five so far in The University of Mexico product recently played in both the semifinal and final rounds of the 2017 Caribbean Cup, with Reggae Boyz finishing second to Curaçao. The Portmore native has started six of his eight appearances this season and 17 of his 26 career MLS games played since Seattle selected him in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Delem, 24, has 34 appearances for Martinique and also appeared in both matches - the semifinal and third-place playoff - in the 2017 Caribbean Cup, which Martinique hosted. The Fort-de-France native has 10 appearances and one assist for Sounders FC this season, following a standout season for Sounders FC 2 in The U.S. Men s National Team has won the CONCACAF Gold Cup on five total occasions, coming away with the confederation title in 1991, 2002, 2005, 2007 and Having led the USMNT to the 2002 and 2005 championships, Arena is one of only two managers to win the tournament twice. In 13 previous editions, the USA is all-time, advancing to the final nine times and the semifinals on 12 occasions. In all, there are 10 players who will be working with Arena at the National Team level for the first time, and 13 with less than 10 caps. Four players - including Roldan - are making their first appearance in a senior team camp.

4 SOUNDERS FC WEEKLY NOTES MARSHALL JOINS 400 CLUB DEMPSEY VOTED PLAYER OF THE WEEK Sounders FC defender Chad Marshall hit a career milestone last month when he made his 400th career apearance across all competitions since joining MLS in The league s only three-time MLS Defender of the Year is the 13th player to hit the 400 mark in MLS regular season, postseason, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League play. Seattle Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey has been voted the Alcatel MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 19 of the 2017 MLS season. Alonso joins Zach Scott as the only players in the 43-year history of the club to join the 300 club, after Scott made his 300th appearance back in Scott accumulated his totals with both the USL and MLS Sounders, while Alonso has made all of his appearances since the club joined MLS in Alonso also joins elite company in league history by becoming just the 10th MLS player to make 300 appearances across all competitions with a single team. SHORT-TERM AGREEMENTS Sounders FC announced on Friday the signing of seven Sounders FC 2 players to short-term agreements ahead of Saturday s international friendly against German side Eintracht Frankfurt on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field (12:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, ROOT SPORTS, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM). S2 players Rodrigue Ele, Shandon Hopeau, Ray Saari, Francisco Narbon, Brian Nana-Sinkam, Sam Rogers and Irvin Parra are all eligible for selection on Saturday. Assistant Coach Gonzalo Pineda is handling head coaching duty for Brian Schmetzer, as the Seattle skipper is away taking part of his continuing U.S. Soccer pro coaching course, which is being held this week in conjunction with the United States Men s National Team match versus Panama on Saturday in Nashville. MLS clubs may sign players from their USL affiliate to short-term agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, AMWAY Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches. An MLS club may sign a player to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season (maximum of 16 days). Sounders FC utilized this mechanism to add players to the roster for each of the club s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches earlier this season. S2 UPDATE Seattle Sounders FC 2 (7-7-2, 23 points) secured three points on the road against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (4-8-3, 15 points) on Saturday afternoon at McLeod Athletic Park.
