They arrived at Alleyns only to be told by the Ref the game was off. Either the Ref was being picky or early local pitch assessments were optimistic. The Ref apparently implied the latter. It s hard enough to get a team together to cross London without finding out you ve got to do it all again later in the season! The 2 nds had a shorter journey to fellow strugglers Winchmore Hill but also left empty handed. It was a tight game and could have gone either way. Captain Nick Page could do no more than score himself but this loss means that their climb out of trouble is even steeper rds player, Harry Gair plants a dangerous corner on the near post but Garchonians scramble it away The 3 rds played very well in difficult conditions where it rained the entire match. There was no lying water, which presumably was the problem at Alleyns, but the pitches were cut-up badly and we have no machine at present to improve them. The chief problem was a fairly inaccurate weather forecast. It rained a good deal harder and longer than predicted and was still raining at dusk (and all Sunday!!). The 3 rds are unbeaten in 2018! It s only 2 matches but it represents their total points for the season. They need another win to catch Norsemen who they thrashed last week. I doubt Dave will catch Valentin though who was playing for the 4 ths and grabbed another 4 goals including a great hanging header to add to his repertoire.

It is only remotely challenged by Old Salesians in the Division 4 South. I don t think it is a coincidence that both teams are Reserve sides seeded in a low division.

They slightly reduced the goal difference but a much changed team never looked like beating a strong Winchmore side.

The last team sheet showed 91unavailable whilst 56 were listed as playing. We re fast approaching the situation where we will need 3 people for every one playing. How times have changed! 2

One Container, two Container. In December we explained the plan to replace the garages with stronger and fully secure containers.

We are very grateful for the Under 11 Youth section taking on this task which requires a lot of manpower and some critical timing of delivery and demolition so that none of our sports equipment was

All this has also cost a lot of money, but we hope once we have secure storage that we can acquire a decent sit-on adaptable mower which will be smaller and useful in the mid-winter.

Sounded simple but it required money and a lot of work to clear the accumulated rubbish of the last 50 odd years. We are very grateful for the Under 11 Youth section taking on this task which requires a lot of manpower and some critical timing of delivery and demolition so that none of our sports equipment was exposed to the elements or potential vandalism. Under the careful guidance of Paul Freeman and a lot of sweat from the Under 11 Dads everything went extremely smoothly as you can see above. All this has also cost a lot of money, but we hope once we have secure storage that we can acquire a decent sit-on adaptable mower which will be smaller and useful in the mid-winter. The old tractor (which Julian has successfully sold with accessories for a good sum of money!) used to be useless in mid-winter because it was too heavy and sank into the pitch causing damage. The pitches, whilst draining well, are cutting up especially after Saturday, and very bobbly and we don t currently have a machine to deal with it. Money generated by the Bar refurb has helped pay for the containers but we don t have any more. If people paid their fines & match fees promptly, & joined the 100 Club, we might be able to consider buying a machine that will bring a better playing surface for everyone. Every penny we get is ploughed back. 4
