5 Scheduling of Games As we again have an odd number of teams, the same format as last year will apply. Four preliminary matches will be played by each team. At the completion of these matches, the top four teams will compete in the Semi Finals. The team that finishes on top will play the 1 st Semi Final against the 4 th placed team. The team that finished 2 nd will play in the 2 nd Semi Final against the 3 rd placed team. The winners of the Semi Finals will then compete in the Grand Final.. Teams will be ranked by points and percentage. Overtime will be played in both the Semi Finals and Grand Final should the scores be tied at the end of normal time. No overtime will be played in the preliminary games. Duration of Games Preliminary Matches: 2 x 10 minute halves, with a 5 minute half time break (change of ends) Semi Finals: 2 x 15 minute halves, with a 10 minute half time break Grand Final: 2 x 20 minute halves, with a 10 minute half time break Break Between Games Teams will need to leave the field immediately after the final siren, as only 5 minutes will be available between the preliminary games. Teams will need to be ready to take the field immediately after the preceding game has finished. Number of Players per Team 16 players on the field and a maximum of 10 interchange players. A maximum of 26 players per game. Qualification for Finals A player must have played in at least 2 preliminary games to be eligible to play in the Semi Finals. A player must have played in at least 3 games (preliminary and/or the Semi Final) to be eligible to play in the Grand Final. 5

6 Coin Toss and Team Lists The Captain (or representative) of each team must attend the Marshall s Tent at half-time of the game preceding theirs. Team sheets are to be submitted, and the coin toss will take place. Important Game Rules There will not be an interchange zone area. There will not be a substitute player on the interchange. 25 metre penalties will apply, not 50 metres. Maximum of four players in the centre square for a bounce. Send off rule. Applies for what would be a reportable offence. This includes abusive language and time wasting. 10 minutes in the sin-bin. The player cannot be replaced during the 10 minutes. In the case of a particularly serious offence, the Marshalls will have the right to ban a player for the remainder of the competition. In this instance, the player can be replaced for the next game. Each team is permitted one team runner. Ring-Ins We do not want to see players brought into a team from outside of the club, purely to help a team s chances in the Asian Champs. The responsibility is on each team, and the following is a guideline: Acceptable A former player of the club who has relocated to another country and is touring with the team. Unacceptable A player who has not played with the team before and is brought in for the Asian Champs specifically because of his playing ability. If any team does overstep the mark in terms of ring-ins, then it s the other 12 clubs they ll have to answer to. Common sense and fair play is expected. 6

9 Preliminary Rounds Competing In Thailand HK Bali Jakarta Laos Malaysia Singapore Vietnam Philippines Cambodia China Japan Macau The following awards will be presented: Awards Asian Championship Cup to the winning team Player of the Championships Leading Goal Scorer Player of the Grand Final Awards to the All Asian Team All Asian Team An All-Asian team will be presented with awards at the presentation ceremony after the Grand Final. As is the practice each year, teams will be asked to nominate players from their own team. The number of players each team may nominate will depend on their finishing position in the tournament. Teams will be provided with details on the day. Expat Property Planners Asian Champs Sprint The Expat Property Planners Asian Champs Sprint will take place between the final Preliminary Round and the Semi Finals. Each team is expected to nominate one of their players to participate and find out who the fastest man in Asian footy is. Boat Races Boat Races will take place between the Semi Finals and the Grand Final. Five members from each team are required. 9

10 Boundary Umpires Teams are to provide 1 boundary umpire for the game which immediately follows the game your team just participated in, and on the same ground. Please note the teams who are to provide boundary umpires for Round 1. Limited first aid service will be available. Medical Insurance It is the responsibility of each team/player to ensure they have adequate coverage. Currency Thai Baht will be the only currency accepted at the ground. Food & Beverage Services F&B services will be provided at the ground. Friday/Saturday Nights There are no official Asian Champs functions; however the nominated venue to meet is Shenanigans in Jomtien Beach. On Saturday night a Beer Garden with Marquees, BBQ, AFL Footy, Beer Promotions etc will be available. Shenanigans is located in the Jomtien Complex Condo on Thap Praya Rd, Jomtien Beach. 11
