20 Sportsmanship Madison AL AYSO 498 has implemented a sportsmanship program that utilizes a rating system to reward and reinforce positive behavior during games. Points are awarded by the game officials and turned in with their game cards or on the notes section of sportac.us. Sportsmanship point apply to players, coaches and spectators. Points Per Game: Exceptional = 3 Average = 2 Below Average = 1 Unacceptable = 0 Sportsmanship points will be used as qualification criteria for Area/State/National tournament play For each Fall and Spring seasons the top 10 teams will be given Sportsmanship Awards with a gift card, gift certificate, pizza party for the team. Examples value of the award are 1 x $100.00, 5 x $50.00 and 4 x $ Full Sportsmanship program document is located at: 18%20sportsmanship%20program.pdf

21 Examples of Good Sportsmanship For moments of EXCEPTIONAL Sportsmanship, the referee will be able to give the game coin(s) used for the initial toss to the player (or adult) that exhibited this behavior. Players, parents and coaches from team cheers when opponent scores1 Complimenting the opposing team on good plays Team recognizes the efforts of the other team with a tunnel or other positive gestures Injured player, opponent deliberately and proactively kicks the ball out of play rather than continue on goal: EXCEPTIONAL Sportsmanship (to be recognized and rewarded by the Referee). Injured player, opponent deliberately and proactively kicks the ball out of play rather than continue on goal: EXCEPTIONAL Sportsmanship (to be recognized and rewarded by the Referee).

22 Examples of Pour Sportsmanship For players, any incidences of sportsmanship-oriented cautions (i.e. would warrant a Yellow Card regardless of age) that are recorded as Unsporting Behavior, Persistent Infringement or Dissent For players, any sending-off offenses. This includes swearing, spitting at a person, or fighting, before, during, or after the game. For adults, any incidences that could be classified as "unsporting behavior", or "persistent infringement", or dissent. If that adult had been a player, would they have been cautioned? For coaches, in addition to the above, any incidences that fail to respect the AYSO philosophies (Good Sportsmanship, Everyone Plays, Player Development, and Positive Coaching) For coaches, a final score with a goal difference of 6 or greater. After quarter substitutions, team is unusually slow (2 minutes or longer) to take the field as coach considers this a time-out Parent or spectator dissent from sidelines No handshakes with referees or players from the other team post-game (even if most do it... if not all it is still NOT good sportsmanship). Coach dissent (by words OR actions, before, during or after the game)

44 Other Programs AYSO UNITED Our pathway begins with our AYSO Playground Soccer program designed to introduce families and children to the physical literacy requirements to play soccer. This program is for our entry level players in the 3-5 Year age range, who will then progress into our AYSO Core program. Our AYSO Core program is designed around fun and learning and ran by a tremendous volunteer base who allow our players to play in a lowpressure environment. (Find your local program) The next step in our Pathway is Extra which is a tryout-based program designed for players looking for a more challenging learning and playing environment. In this program the players will play at a higher level in a developmentally appropriate AYSO playing circuit, coached by the top AYSO Coaches with a focus on technical and tactical development. The final phase in the youth system is the AYSO United (Club) program. In United, our top players are exposed to the challenges and competition of club soccer. In this environment the players work with high level coaches and play in USYS (US Club) leagues and compete against other youth club organizations. The United program builds on the foundations of all our AYSO Programs ensuring that the players selected are in the appropriate environment to enhance their skill level and competence in the game of soccer.
