1 Skills Badge Booklet

2 We believe that players develop to their full potential only by many hours of training. In Brazil and Argentina it is not unusual for young players to receive up to 20 hours a week of training, on top on practising in their own time and with their friends. We have developed our skills badge scheme in order to encourage all our players to practise at home on a regular basis. Even minutes a day of practising our core ball skills, juggling or passing will make a huge difference to your technical ability. We hope you use this booklet to help you practice regularly at home. We will do some skills badge work during training but the main focus of the scheme is on players practicing in their own time. Once you feel you are ready to be assessed on any of the areas within the scheme this can be done by an adult at home or ask us at training and we will assess you. At the back of this booklet is a table to record your assessments. On completion of a level players will receive a small trophy/medal and a badge which can be ironed onto your training shirt.

3 Core Ball Skills Players have 30 seconds to achieve as many repetitions as they can. The correct technique must be used for each repetition. Players have a maximum of 3 attempts at any assessment session to achieve the required number. Sole taps Red Level Blue Level Black Level Yellow Level (every touch counts as Inside taps (every touch counts as Pull Push (every touch with lace counts as one, must be alternate Scissors (both legs around the ball = 1) Slides (every touch counts as Outside Taps (every touch counts as Inside - Outside with right foot (inside and outside = 1) Inside - Outside with left foot (inside and outside = 1) Step Overs (every step counts as

4 Passing Passing the ball against the wall or a bench. A target should be made using cones, jumpers etc that should be 1 metre wide. Players must be 3 metres from the target, they can pass one touch or take a controlling touch then pass. Players have 1 minute to make as many successful passes as they can, pass must hit the wall along the floor and between the two markers. Red Level Blue Level Black Level Yellow Level Inside of the foot (must be alternate Laces of the foot (must be alternate Outside of the foot (must be alternate Volleying The ball needs to be fed with a throw from a partner. The ball is passed back one touch. Only passes under control and back to partner without bouncing count. 5 Change of Direction Moves Players must demonstrate that they can perform each required move both with their right and left foot. 6 Moves to Beat Players Players must demonstrate they can perform each required move both with their right and left foot. Skill Red Blue Black Yellow Scissors and take the ball away with the outside of the foot. Triangle Ronaldo Ronaldinho Ronaldinho Sombero Flick Neymar Ramona Exit Whip Reverse Whip In Air Whip At yellow level the move must be demonstrated in a pressured situation i.e. during a game, 1 v 1 against a defender

7 Juggling Red level 1. Hold the ball in your hands, drop the ball and kick it back up to your hands with your laces. Complete 6 times with any foot. 2. As above but ball must be kicked up above head height before being caught. 3. Hold the ball in your hands, drop the ball and kick it back up to your hands with your laces. Complete 6 times with alternate feet. 4. Hold the ball in your hands, drop the ball and perform two touches with any part of the body then catch. Repeat 6 times. 5. Hold ball in hands, throw up, head and catch, repeat 10 times. Blue Level 1. Perform 10 consecutive juggles using any part of the body. 2. Hold ball in hands, drop ball and perform 2 touches both bringing the ball to head height, then catch. Repeat 10 times without dropping the ball. 3. Perform 10 consecutive headers. 4. Hold ball in hands, drop ball and perform lace - thigh with right leg, catch ball and repeat using left leg. Perform 6 with each leg without dropping the ball. 5. Perform 10 juggles with alternate laces. Black Level 1. Perform 30 consecutive juggles using any part of the body. 2. Perform 20 consecutive headers. 3. Perform 10 head high touches using any part of the body (except head). 4. Perform 20 consecutive touches using alternate insides of the feet. 5. Perform 10 sets of lace - inside touches. Yellow Level 1. Perform 100 touches with right lace. 2. Perform 100 touches with left lace. 3. Perform 100 alternate touches with laces.

8 4. Perform 100 alternate thighs. 5. Perform 100 alternate inside touches. 6. Perform 50 inside / outside touches. 7. Perform 250 consecutive juggles using any part of the body.
