Lovejoy High School 2018-2019 Homecoming Student Government Association Application Guidelines Please read all instructions carefully before completing the application package. 1. Application must be typed or completed in blue or black ink. 2. All applicants must submit a picture, via email to kari.callier@clayton.k12.ga.us. 3. All applications MUST be turned in to Ms. Callier in Room 1107 or her front office mailbox on or before Thursday, September 6, 2018 during your lunch period or after school. 4. Applications submitted after September 6, 2018 WILL NOT be accepted. 5. There is a $50 fee to be paid after you have been notified of your eligibility to run. This fee will be due Monday, September 10, 2018. This fee is used to purchase flowers, sashes, lunch, entry to game, Homecoming parade, Homecoming refreshments and other Homecoming items for our Coronation and Field events. You cannot campaign until this fee is paid. 6. Three (3) teacher recommendations (2 Core classes and 1 Elective) 7. A one page essay stating why you should represent your class as King /Queen. 8. Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified. 9. Do not fold, bend, or mutilate the application. Please feel free to contact kari.callier@clayton.k12.ga.us if you have any questions. Election: Elections will be held, Thursday, September 13, 2018. We will be voting via student s G-Suites accounts. Voting will be all day, in the Media Center and during Language Arts classes. Qualifying Criteria: The young man and young lady must: 1. Be enrolled as a student at Lovejoy High School. 2. Must have an accumulated unweighted grade point average of 2.0 or above OR 3.0 or above for Mr. and Miss LHS, which is included in this packet. 3. Maintain good attendance in all classes with no ISS or OSS and no referrals. 4. No applicant will be accepted if he or she has accumulated more than 10 absences (excused or unexcused) or more than 4 tardies this school year in each class. 5. Attend all rehearsals and meetings. 1

All posters, flyers, and any other materials pertaining to your campaign must be removed on or before 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. All Homecoming Court candidates MUST be present in school during ALL homecoming activities. If any candidate is absent you will not be allowed to participate during half time of the football game Voting will take place Thursday, September 13, 2018, using G-Suites accounts in the Media Center and in your Language Arts classes. However family and friends MUST purchase a ticket. Homecoming Court will be presented during halftime of the football game. Location: 12 Oaks Stadium Friday, September 21, 2018, 7:30 p.m. Lovejoy vs. Drew CAMPAIGN RULES Any candidate who removes, causes to be removed or relocates another candidate material is subject to being removed from the ballot. The sponsor reserves the right to make judgment about any complaint brought to the attention of the Student Government Association. The candidate will automatically be terminated if any of the rules stated are violated. All campaign items (flyers, posters, and banners) must be not be offensive in content/pictures or language. No posters are allowed in the Main Office windows. NO Food (of any type) can be used for campaigning. Please refrain from using slang on flyers and signs, if used materials will be rejected. PROPER GRAMMAR MUST BE USED Posting of any flyers must be done before and after school. Only one large post/banner can displayed in the school cafeteria Flyers can be posted in classrooms at the teachers discretion Stickers cannot be posted on the walls of the school Disrespectful/Negative campaigning or personal attacks will not be allowed.
