The Studio will follow South Lyon Schools closures for Snow Days. Cancellations will be announced on our website at www.thestudiosouthlyon.com, on our Facebook and our Instagram page. (We hope we have you as our friend!!) If class is canceled, students may make up the lesson in another class of their choice. For instance, if a student s hip hop class is canceled, she may join another hip-hop class at any day and time for the make-up. Or, a student may use the make-up as a one-time trial in a class of a different interest such as ballet, technique or acting. In this way, the make-up of a class is convenient for everyone and allows the student to explore new territories. Happy snowman building!!! Let the excitement begin! Plans for The Studio s 2018 Production/Recital are in the make!! Our shows will take place on Saturday, May 19th and Sunday, May 20th at the Jane Tesh Theatre in the Pinkney, MI. Students who take one class will participate in just one of the shows. Company Dancers will perform in all shows. Dolls and Sweet Petites will perform in two shows. A detailed breakdown of show times, along with which show(s) your child will perform in,will be distributed in the near future. If your child participates in more than one class, or you have two daughters in different classes, please stop by the front desk to fill out a form that will help us try to place their classes in the same show. It is not necessary for competitive dancers to fill out this form. Please note our FIRST priority is placing siblings in the same show. Recreational dancers will begin working on their Production/Recital routine(s) in late January, early February. We greatly encourage parents videotaping your child s routines at the end of class as they learn it. Our staff will allow parents to enter class to videotape the last 5 minutes of class each week. Studying the footage is a wonderful way for a student to practice at home. Towards the end of February your instructor will present a picture of your child's costume that will be worn in the Production. Costumes will begin arriving in April. Individual and group photos will be taken in late April, early May. Should you have questions regarding any of this information please direct them to your instructor. It s time for us to choose the cast of The Studio s 2018 Production/Recital Will you be part of this year s magic?? Audition information will be available at the front desk beginning Tuesday, January 16th. Auditions are open to anyone and everyone ages 5 to 85 years of age. Tryouts will be held at The Studio on Friday, January 26th from 4:00-5:30 PM. You may sign up for a time slot of your choice at the front desk on or after January 16th. On the day of auditions, bring a picture of yourself along with your shoe and clothing sizes to tryouts. The list of the final cast will be posted on the front door by Monday, January 29th. Practices will be held on alternating Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays throughout the months of February through May. A full schedule of this information will be handed out at the first practice/meeting on Friday, February 9th at 5:00PM. We need all chosen cast members to attend this practice along with one parent.
