The Fisher Cats dropped their fourth straight game despite excellent pitching performances, with a critical error in the seventh inning allowing the go-ahead run to score. New Hampshire stranded 12 runners on base in the game. Austin Bibens-Dirkx took the loss despite a quality start, allowing two runs (one earned) in 6.2 innings on five hits and three walks. He struck out four for New Hampshire and induced 10 ground-ball outs. Blake McFarland was superb in his first relief effort since being returned from Triple-A Buffalo, striking out two and retiring all four batters he faced. TODAY S STARTER: Casey Lawrence is back on the hill on Sunday afternoon, looking to continue his recent success. The righty earned his tenth victory on Tuesday night, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings while fanning three against the Harrisburg. He has taken 18 decisions in 18 NH starts, plus a loss in his lone appearance in Buffalo. He s now 10-8, and he s won five consecutive starts. FEELING IT SLIP AWAY: The comeback for the Sea Dogs on Thursday night was a stunner for the Fisher Cats. Prior to Thursday night, New Hampshire had been 38-0 in games where they led after seven innings, and 41-0 when they held the lead going into the ninth inning. The four runs allowed in the bottom of the ninth raised the bullpen s July ERA nearly a run and a half, from 1.79 to 3.11. A STRONG CASE-Y: After an uncharacteristic run in May, where he pitched beyond the sixth just once, Lawrence appears to be back to his old ways. He s gone at least six innings in eight straight, the last seven of which have been quality starts. He s allowed just one home run in his last 64.1 innings after giving up four in his first 46.1 frames. He is 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA (10 ER/48.0 IP) in his last seven starts. LAWRENCE OF LEGEND: Lawrence is etching his name in the Fisher Cats record books. His win yesterday gave him 10 on the season, making him the sixth New Hampshire pitcher to reach that single-season plateau and the first since Ryan Tepera in 2013. He now has 19 wins in a Fisher Cats uniform, matching Deck McGuire for the franchise record for most career victories. McGuire compiled his wins from 2011-14, while Lawrence did all of it from 2014-15. July by the Numbers Record 14-8 Home 8-2 Away 6-6 Team ERA 2.96 Starters ERA 3.03 Bullpen ERA 2.83 Team AVG.265 Runs/Game 4.09 Home Runs 11 SETTING THE WRONG KIND OF RECOREDS: The Fisher Cats would like to forget Tuesday s series finale against the Harrisburg Senators. They surrendered a season-most 13 runs, and mustered only six hits over the course of the game. Taylor Cole was knocked out of the game after only three innings of work, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk. The bullpen didn t fare much better, giving up seven runs over their remaining five innings of work. Things didn t go much better for New Hampshire on Friday, as they gave up 21 hits to the Portland Sea Dogs, a new high for Fisher Cats opponents on the road. FANTASTIC 42 AND ON HOLD: Dalton Pompey picked up a third-inning RBI single and tripled to extend his team-record on-base streak to 42 games on 7/16. With his promotion to Buffalo on 7/17, the streak will halt there for now. During the streak, which dates back to 2014, Pompey is hitting.371 with a.428 on-base percentage. He posted eye-popping numbers in June, batting.372 with an OPS of 1.066, five homers and 15 RBI. FAMILIAR FACES, FAMILIAR PLACES: This series is the fourth between the Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs this season, and the fourth since the middle of June. New Hampshire sees Portland more than any other opponent in 2015, with a total of 23 games scheduled between the two clubs. New Hampshire owns a 9-6 edge in the season series, but they re just 3-4 here at Hadlock Field. FISHER CATS ALUMNI REPORT Devon Travis singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in one more in Toronto s 8-6 win over the Seattle Mariners. Aaron Sanchez got the win for the Jays with a scoreless inning of relief, and Brett Cecil preceded him with a scoreless frame of his own. Drew Hutchison gave up six runs (five earned) in four innings as the starter. Dalton Pompey had an outstanding game for the Buffalo Bisons, going 5-6 with a double and a triple and just missing a cycle by a homer. He also had 2 RBI. Jon Berti singled, scored a run and drove one in. Andy Burns went 2-5 with a single, a double and a run scored. Upcoming Games Probables Time Monday, July 27 Harrisburg RHP John Simms (0-0, 0.00) v.
