IT S TIME TO BUILD YOUR STORY The journey begins when you open the box. Find everything you need to build your story, and get ready to start building! Pull the tab to take your American Girl mini figure out of the window. Let s get organized! Take all the pieces out of the bags and lay them out where you can see them. Be careful not to lose any. Take all the bags of pieces out of the box you re almost ready to start building. Make sure you have your instructions handy! 3
Meet Lea! Girl of the Year Lea Clark dives into every new adventure! When her family travels to Brazil, she can t wait to see the beautiful beaches and the Amazon rainforest. She explores what s in her heart. Lea loves taking photographs, and animals are her favorite subject. At her hut on the beach she can find all kinds of creatures furry, feathered, and even slimy to photograph. She s a little nervous about swimming in the ocean, until she digs deep and realizes she has the courage it takes to try new things. Even snorkeling and surfing! Lea keeps a blog so she can share her adventures with her friends back home. Today I was hanging out in the hammock when I spotted a toucan perched on a tree branch, Lea writes, sitting in the cool shade of the hut. Tomorrow we re going into the rainforest. I hope we see a sloth, but who knows what we ll find? 4

1 START BUILDING Building TIP Turn the brick plate upside down to connect the two rectangular bricks underneath it. Be sure to use the green rectangular pieces that have four circles each. It s simple! 7

19 3x Building TIP Do you see the sharp-angled piece in this photo? It can come loose if you bump it, so be careful when you attach the red piece on top. Easy does it! 20

22 Building TIP When you attach the loft bed to the ceiling, press on the red side bricks not the purple middle pieces to make sure it s snapped firmly onto the prongs. Lea will love this bed! 23

27 4x Building TIP When you build the support beams, remember to push each piece down as far as it can go all the way to the bottom of the rod. Perfect! 27

5 6 7 8 Building TIP Here s the secret to building the hammock: hold the fabric piece in one hand and the rod piece in the other. Start on the inside of the hammock, and push the rod through to the outside of the hole. Once the rod has poked through, place the cap on that end to hold it. Repeat on the other side with the second rod and the other cap pieces. Now your hammock is ready to be hung! 39
