WWW.CEDARRIVERBOWMEN.ORG CEDAR RIVER BOWMEN NEWSLETTER MAY 2015 BOWNANZA We need your help to make Bownanza a success! It is that time of the year again we are rapidly approaching BOWNANZA. That wonderful time of the year when the grounds at your archery club turn into a playground for archers. There will be lots of opportunities for all club members to help out, such as shirt sales, cook shack, novelty shoots, set up and take down. However, right now, we are focused on obtaining prize donations to ensure that our 2015 BOWNANZA lives up to its reputation. Your help in soliciting would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that the items do not need to be archery related. Gift certificates to local restaurants, tickets to sporting events, or movie tickets are all acceptable. Maybe you are a small business owner or have contacts, friends or family that you can reach out to. Think outside the box and be creative. For example one of the items we raffled last year was a lace leaf maple tree. If you need a copy of our Bownanza Donation request letter please contact Diane Daniels at enumclawdi@msn.com or myself Tom Daniels at roscoedaniels@msn.com If you are interested in volunteering please contact us as well. Thank you in advance for your help! Tom Daniels 253 334 5571 SUMMER LEAGUE Here s an opportunity to meet, socialize and shoot with fellow CRB members! The Cedar River Bowmen outdoor Summer League is underway! Meet each Tuesday at 6:00pm at the flat range. Each week we will shoot a different course alternating between marked and unmarked yardages. To keep things simple we ll do an alphabetical rotation A B C D. Rule of thumb: if it is a cloudy day try to start before 6:00pm as it gets dark quicker under the tree canopy. League shooting will be every Tue evening until August 11, 2015. There are score cards and a Summer League course schedule posted at the flat range. BOARD MEETING REMINDER Thursday, June 11 6:30pm In the Clubhouse All CRB members are welcome! Come see how you can contribute to your club! Guest comments and feedback are welcome. TOURNAMENT RESULTS Interested in where you finished in a tournament we have had? You can view the results of each shoot by going to the tournament page. MEETING MINUTES - APRIL 2015 CRB BOARD MEETING APRIL 9, 2015 AT THE KRAIN INN Attendance: Richard Lemon Mike Garrett BJ Brewster Dave Garrison Tom Daniels Diane Daniels Derrell Keegan Jamey Holmes Jim Walker Mike Stefanick Chris Ray Sarah St George Joe St George Meeting called to order at 6:09 pm Quorum is present. Secretary s report - Diane Distributed to the board 3/13/15 - Motion made to accept as distributed. Seconded and passed. Treasurer s report Travis Absent - Distributed to board 4/8/15 Mike G made comments that he liked the way things looked. Motion made to accept as distributed. Seconded and passed. Mike S asked if we wanted to continue to add money to the generator fund. Mike G recommended that we move the generator money to the land acquisition fund and do not add anything more to the generator fund. BJ suggested we move the money to the Bownanza prize fund. Diane stated she would rather see the money in the land acquisition fund so that people do not slack on getting prizes. Mike G made a motion to move the money to the land acquisition fund and discontinue adding to it. Seconded and passed. Range Master report Chris Haven t been up there much. Changed a few targets out on the flat range. After May, we are done with Safari and will move to field. Has not walked any courses lately. Chris is going to try to come out on the Friday before the Redding Warm Up to inspect the courses. Asked whoever shoots it, to keep an eye on the targets to identify which ones are less than perfect. Saturday night someone will need to walk the courses to see if any of them need the orange dots touched up with paint. Will need to order some targets for the American Heroes shoot. Assistant Field Zach Absent Assistant Animal Al Absent Bow hunter report Dave Turkey season starts next Wednesday. Multi season tag results are posted. Membership Mike S Where are we on burlap targets for the Summer league? We have lots. Mike has a friend that is a stamp collector. She offered to sell Mike forever stamps at a reduced cost. He purchased and will give some to Sarah for the Puffs as well. Membership is at 170 total members. Mike will get to the list of emails that have been acquired at shoots that indicated that they want to be aware of upcoming shoots. He will send the first email out with a list of all upcoming shoots. Tournament report Mike G Redding Warm Up coming. Mike is going to try to camp through the weekend. Flighting on Sunday only. Extreme, Mike will not be in town. Will need someone to run the registration. Has a possible in mind. Considering using Sunday flighted scores only for the American Heroes shoot awards. Chris has some concerns with that. Thought that most coming out to shoot both days would want both days scores to count. Mike was ok with that. Possible flight both Saturday and Sunday to keep scores honest.

Diane to follow up with Pat Moore regarding the preregistration for the American Heroes shoot. Puffs Sarah Any articles need to get to her by Monday. She has lots of pictures. Tom will put something together regarding the banquet and awards. Bownanza Donations Tom will take the lead and set something up. Needs everyone to get going. Tom stated that the course captains need to get out the movers and see what is needed. Old Business Board Liability Insurance Tom He is working with the insurance company to get a quote. Tom is going to get additional quotes. IBO is paid. Shirt order is close to being completely delivered. Do to delays in delivery, they have promised us 96 free shirts that we can use however we choose. Possibly sell and use money elsewhere or use as prizes. New Business Jim is petitioning the board. He has been asked several times to hold Elk calling Seminars. Elk Collage is a two day event. Jim and?(the person that runs these) would put it on. Possibly July 18 & 19. Covers about everything to include, but not limited to Moon cycles, barometric pressures, rut cycles. $125 for two days. Includes bugles, calls and DVD. Also includes lunch. Not sure if he will do it at the club but would like it as an option. Needs a minimum of 40, max 65. What is in it for the club? Members can participate. Promote Bownanza. May end up with new members. Jim suggested a burger, chips and soda for lunch and would pay $7.50 each. Lots of discussion around use fee. Do we need one? How do we determine the amount? How do we administer it fairly? Chris made motion to charge Jim $100 to use the club that weekend. Seconded and passed. In addition, Jim will provide a number of attendees in advance, for the cook shack lunches. They will be $7.50 per person for a burger, chips and soda each day.
