K-State Cheer Tryout Information and Packet Cheer Tryouts ~2015~ All information is subject for change at any time! Purpose: The K-State Cheer team is a group of selected individuals whose purposes are to represent Kansas State University in a positive light and to perform and entertain audiences. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of this organization. The K-State Cheer program is looking for well-rounded athletes with cheerleading skills and cheerleading ability. The K-State Cheer program realizes that not all potential cheer participants have advanced tumbling or advanced stunting skills. Be prepared to take direction and coaching during the tryout process. Do not assume that weakness or lack of skill in any one area will automatically disqualify you as a potential team member. A positive attitude and hard work ethic must be displayed at all times in order to be considered for this privilege. Attitude Attitudes and /or egos shall be left at the door. Any past accomplishments in cheer/dance/ stunting or otherwise, carry little weight in the selection process. The K-State Cheer coaching staff has the right to remove any participant at any time for bad attitude, harassment (which also includes any and all forms of social media harassment,) or failure to follow safety guidelines and regulations for stunting or general safety of the program. Scores The cheer coaching staff and administration of K-State Cheer will make all final decisions on team member selection. Threats, outbursts, rude behavior from participants, former or current coaches, parents or any other supporting unit, will not be accepted or tolerated at any time. All results are final!!!!! Tryout Visitors Visitors are welcome, however, all visitors will remain in the lobby/door area of the indoor football facility during the entire tryout process and this includes the final selection announcement. (This includes but is not limited to, all family, friends, former or current coaches, boyfriends, girlfriends, significant others, etc.) In the event there are any problems with outside visitors or participants, campus security may be involved. Tryout visitors will not discuss any results of the tryout process with ANY of the judges or coaching staff at any time. Tryout Results: Participants who made the final selection will be informed at the end of the tryout process on May 3 rd, 2015. Participants who made the final selection will then be expected to attend a mandatory team meeting after the tryout process and after the final results are announced. (This meeting will be a half hour in length.) All results are final!!!!! Facility and Tryout Surface: All tryout open gyms and the actual live tryout process are held at the Indoor Football facility on campus. This is an artificial turf surface. Also offered is a five panel cheer mat (dead mat,) that individuals may use. Ceilings are high for safe and proper stunting.
