The Bear Bulletin 10-21-16 Clover Garden School I enjoyed the opportunity to see so many of you at our recent Art Show and Band Compe on last weekend. I know your students work hard and were proud at both events; I know I was! This week we also enjoyed the Career Expo. Our students got to experience and interact with over 40 different business professionals from around Alamance county and the surrounding areas. Report cards for the first nine weeks have been sent home. If you have concerns about your student s grades, please do not hesitate to contact his or her individual teacher. Remember, you are also welcome to include me or Mrs. Vereyken in on any types of communica on as well. We will be happy to talk with you on the phone or schedule a mee ng to talk together regarding ideas to help make your student successful. Please don t ever hesitate to contact us we want to help. In light of unfortunate recent events that have occurred within the community, we want to make sure that you know that CGS is taking every precau on necessary in order to protect your students. Please be sure to speak with your child about Stranger Danger and how to be alert and aware of their surroundings at all mes. This is for all ages, not just our younger students. You will no ce Officer Villanova outside around the perimeter and monitoring students playing on the playground as well as students leaving campus early each day. With the increase in abduc ons that have been happening in Alamance County, we want to make sure that we are being as pro-ac ve as possible and are prepared for worst-case scenarios. Breast Cancer Awareness Month For the last five years, our 4-H club has been doing their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser. Just like previous years, we will be selling t-shirts, bows, and ribbons. The ribbons, if purchased, will be used to decorate our cafeteria. There will also be a penny war between Mrs. Melton, Mr. Bos c, and Mrs. Clark. Bring in your spare change to see who is going pink on November 4 th. When: October 10 th through November 3 rd You may wonder, where is this money going to? All of the money that we raise is going to the Norville Breast Center at Alamance Regional Medical Center. All money raised will be used for mammograms for pa ents that cannot afford it. Thank you for all of your support. The 4-H Club 5
Costume Guidelines For School Events The guidelines are as follows: * Students must pre-pay before the deadline October 26th (students will not be allowed to pay on the costume wearing day) * Students must pre-register what costume they plan to wear and get approved * The costume you wish to wear must be in compliance with the school dress code (dress code s ll applies for costume) * Hats can be considered if hat is a part of an approved costume * Costumes must avoid portraying religious figures, poli cal views, gender bending and/or race * Students can wear face paint however it must not be full face or bloody/gory * School consequences will result for students if costume guidelines are not followed correctly If you would like to par cipate on costume day please have parents fill out the informa on below. Please enclose $2 dollars with the permission slip and return to homeroom teachers or to Mrs. Strickland. Athle cs Middle School Soccer, Middle School Volleyball, and High School Soccer all played tough games in their first round of the State Playoffs. However, a er a hard fought game they all lost their game ending their seasons. HS volleyball has won their first two games in the playoffs and will play in the semifinals Friday at New Garden Friends at 5:30pm. If they win, their championship will be Saturday at New Garden Friends.
