USS Constellation Cup Regatta & Deck Party ABOUT HISTORIC SHIPS IN BALTIMORE Historic Ships in Baltimore is the steward of one of America s premier maritime collections. The fleet includes the 1854 US Sloop-of-War Constellation, the USCGC Taney built in 1936, the US Submarine Torsk launched in 1944 and the Lightship Chesapeake which entered service in 1930 as well as the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse which marked the entrance to the Patapsco River and Baltimore Harbor starting in 1856. Each of these very special artifacts is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has its own unique story to tell. Historic Ships also participates in community activities such as Pre-K at Play, a citywide initiative designed to introduce young children and their families to the many learning activities that the area has to offer. Historic Ships provides discounted or free admission to many groups, including Baltimore City school children and those with special needs, and supports deserving non-profits by donating hundreds of free tickets to for use in fundraising activities. Historic Ships offers youth internships and volunteer opportunities.
