From The October Meeting It seems that I either did not take, or have filed the pics of the meeting I did take, where I could not find them, sorry... So, to take advantage of the white space, I will post some additional pics from the Speed 400/ 1/2 A event and the Collecto... Notes From The Right Seat Greetings: Another late issue. Oh when will it stop? The good news is that the final SAM event of 2015 is coming up on Saturday, November 21st at the Livermore Flying Electrons field in Livermore. (see updated flyer on page 9) I hope we have benign weather and a record number of Boxcars on hand to demonstrate what fun is all about. On a similar note, this issue kicks off the continuation of the One Design/Build Fly project by including two, three views of nominated designs, a seldom seen design, the San Jose (a fitting name), and a long time SAM favorite, the Sniffer. (see pgs. 6 and 7) A third design, the low wing Peerless Panther had been explored but is not being promoted at this time We will wait until December 15th to allow any further nominees before a voting poll will be initiated to determine the consensus choice. Remember that designs should be eligible or convertible, for at least one SAM class, would be a good to excellent performer, be somewhat more challenging to build than previous One design examples and be available in the appropriate size for use with the 480 motors as used in the previous One Design projects. For All SAM 21 members: Don t forget that the annual Pirates White Elephant event is scheduled for our meeting on December, 17th. Finally: 2015 has been an altogether good year for SAM activities. Participation in most events was the same or slightly less than 2014.The One Design events seemed to attract the largest number of participants, so this may be the time to recommend that we think about scheduling at least one additional One Design event in the September/ October time frame? Be Prepared: It s Happening again at the DECEMBER 17th meeting... The SAM 21 PIRATES WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE It s always a hoot! WHITE Here are the details: Everyone Brings a hobby related, wrapped gift with a value of at least $20 Used items are welcome, as well as new ones but, This is not a clean out your junk drawer event Playing order is drawn from a hat and #1 selects a gift and unwraps it. #2 has the option of grabbing a new gift or pirating #1 s selection. Ditto for # 3 who either selects a new gift or robs a gift from #1 or #2. The trick is to then select another gift which has a good chance of being pirated. That way you can get your original gift back. This goes on until all gifts are opened. Once a player has possession of a particular gift 3 times, it belongs to them and is out of play (and so are they). Bring a pen to mark your gift selection with your initials in case it is pirated from you. As you might imagine, the action gets WILD for certain items. Remember, you can not take a pirated gift directly back, It must first pass through a second party s hands. Sound complex? ` Naaa!. it s a bunch of fun!
