Friday evening s showdown with the Power is the second in a four game weekend series for the second straight weekend - Delmarva is in the middle of a stretch where they play the Power 12 times in 18 games. The Shorebirds have had a frustrating second half with two losing streaks of at least five games. Further, after going 22-11 at home before the All-Star break, Delmarva is 4-11 in their last 15 home games. West Virginia is coming off a three game series loss (2-1) against first half champion Hagerstown. The Power beat the Shorebirds 12 of 15 times last year, but Delmarva has the upper hand in the 2016 season series, 7-4. Since the Birds opened the season with a 4-6 mark and lost two of the first three series, they have a series record of 15-9-4 over their last 28 sets, going 54-45 over that stretch. TONIGHT S OPPONENTS: Right-hander Gage Hinsz gets the ball from Brian Esposito in the series finale. Hinsz has won two of his last three outings, when he fired six-plus innings of shutout baseball in both cases. He is from Bozeman, Montana and was an 11th round pick in 2014 out of Bozeman West High School. Today marks his 25th professional appearance and his 23rd career start. LAST GAME QUICK HITS: The Shorebirds struggled to get the offense going on Thursday night. Seven of the nine offensive frames featured 1-2-3 innings for West Virginia starter Bret Helton, who earned his seventh win. Brian Gonzalez pitched very well for the second straight outing, throwing six more scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Cedric Mullins, Randolph Gassaway and Austin Anderson all extended their respective hitting streaks, while Ryan Mountcastle s was snapped at seven games. PLAYER TO WATCH WHO S HOT/WHO ELSE RANDOLPH GASSAWAY OF Randolph Gassaway has burst on to the scene in his first opportunity with Delmarva. The 2013 draft pick has hit safely in 21 of his first 26 games and brings an 12-game hitting streak into tonight s contest. He finished the recent road trip 11-for-22 with four doubles and a game-tying 9th inning HR. WHO S HOT AUSTIN ANDERSON Anderson recently took over the third spot in the order after Yermin Mercedes promotion and he s taken over nicely. Anderson hit three homers on the week-long road trip, going 9-for-23 with five RBI and five runs scored. WHO ELSE OFELKY PERALTA Peralta was just named the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July, 2016. He finished the month 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA and threw his first career no-hitter.

He went 3-4 with a 4.81 ERA in 2015 between his two stops. Love has pitched twice in 2016, working as a tandem with Ofelky Peralta. Love was thrust into the starting rotation after Lucas Long and Cory Jones were promoted to the Frederick Keys in mid-april. Game #111 Delmarva Shorebirds vs. West Virginia Power (Pirates) Arthur W. Perdue Stadium MANAGER RYAN MINOR Minor, 42, returns for his eighth season on the Shorebirds coaching staff, and his sixth as the team s manager. In 2015, he led the Shorebirds to 71 wins, the most victories for the franchise since 2009. This is Minor s second stint in Salisbury, having previously managed the Shorebirds for three seasons (2010-12) and spent two seasons (2008-09) as the hitting coach for the Shorebirds. In between, he managed the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A) in 2013. During his tenure as manager of the Shorebirds, the team compiled 302 wins, the most of any Delmarva manager. Minor aided the development of current Orioles, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop, who played for the Shorebirds in 2011. Minor, a longtime resident of Salisbury with his wife Allyson and two children Reagan and Finley, enjoyed a four-year run in the major leagues from 1998 through 2001. He spent his first three years with the Orioles and his final season with the Montreal Expos. Minor s playing career is best remembered for replacing Cal Ripken, Jr. at third base on September 20, 1998 when the consecutive games streak of 2,632 came to a close. The Orioles drafted Minor in the 33rd round of the 1996 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In 1997, he played for Shorebirds and was an SAL All-Star third baseman. He batted.307 with 24 home runs and 97 RBIs. Minor still owns the franchise single season records for doubles (42). Minor also owns a decorated college basketball career. He is seventh all-time in scoring at Oklahoma with 1,946 points. He was selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 1996 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
